It's amazing what you dig up in Tokyo. Never seen this box before, so I just had to grab it!

Thanks guys! It looks pretty straightforward, and I've been itching to try out my blue rider decal set, so it was an easy pick up.

Interesting project! I like Tin Tin, so I'm in 👍

Interesting - looks a little bit different to the A-model kit (which I've been slowly working on). The Blue Rider decals are pretty good quality BTW, if a little bit thick.

Thanks for showing up mates. Let's hope the show is worth the admission fee.😉

I was hunting for the A-model kit too, Uwe, but this one just sort of appeared before me, so I had no choice.... not for $10 anyway.😉. I'm not a Soviet helicopter expert, but judging by the walk around pics I've seen, it looks fairly accurate. So far the only major surgery was to separate the conjoined back seats.

Got the cabin painted and assembled. Since not much will be visible of the inside, I refrained from going crazy on scratchbuilt details. It went together relatively easily, but wow, the fit is aspirational at best. Mind the gap, indeed.

Peter Hardy
Are you going to have Tin Tin looking out the hole in the stern?
5 February 2019, 22:11
Greg Baker
Urm... I think my builds are starting to blur for you, Peter. I assume you're talking about the Dhow, unless my Soviet helicopter anatomy is totally off...😉. If so, then no. I left the original rudder hole in the stern mainly because it'd take too much work to fill. If not, then no... but mainly because I have no idea what you're talking about. :.P

Peter Hardy
You are correct. I am totally confused. You build so much so quickly it is all a blurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.........!!!!!

It will need a resuscitate!
23 February 2020, 21:17
Greg Baker
Ok... so I couldn't mount a rescue operation to the shelf of doom and not bring this one back alive too... it seems a seat inside the cabin has come loose, so I had to pop off the canopy, but we'll be rolling on this one soon.

Nice project - I did a polish version of this bird once: SM-1/300 (Mil Mi-1T) | Album by jott (1:72)

Let's see how the heli interact with the Land Rover ... This will be another stunner, I'm sure!

"Greg will never be off track" Stunning work especially with this WK -"Kit" Following 🙂

Ok. So the seat inside the cabin was glued back down, and the clear part was re-seated. I masked all the multiple windows with rounded corners (!) and added some putty to fill in the gaps. I also trimmed down the massive flash on some of the parts and was able to add the wheels and struts. Of course, the struts were too short, so I added as much wire as I was comfortable with to try and extend the angle.

Just another day of adventure... 🙂

Greg, it is always amazing how turn a 'simple' kit into a tale. Nice to see you picked up again your Tintin collection

Another take on a big scale? Arriving just in time!
17 April 2020, 15:32
Greg Baker
Thanks Lode! I like models that have something to say, so I'm glad to hear you say that. The Tintin collection was never gone for good... just resting while I explored some other projects. I'm trying to decide what my next one will be though... Model-T from "Tintin in the Congo" or maybe the Lunar Tank from "Explorers on the Moon"... or... a plane? I dunno.

I have yet to see one of these limited run kits of the early Mil birds that wasnt absolute crap. The thickness on that "glass". Good Lord. Looks like a 90 year old with myopia's glasses. Best of luck!

If the man who casually builds 50-year-old-tool kits while reading his Breakfast papers has quality concerns, it must be a thing!😉
17 April 2020, 15:54
Greg Baker
I think it is a thing. I did my best, but Don is right, the clear part really is crappy. The fit of this kit is aspirational at best...
22 April 2020, 15:53
Greg Baker
And... we're done. I have to say... the Blue Rider decals really let me down. I was so excited to finally use them on a project... but then they didn't really fit where they were supposed to, and then they wouldn't lie down completely flat... Oh, well. It was fun. That's enough for me.

Łukasz Gliński
Looks good, but I was thinking of transparencies - have you tried brushing on some thicker layer of gloss polish, Future or AK Gauzy Agent?
It may not help to see what's inside, but the overall impression should improve a bit.

Thanks guys. I won't lie, this kit was a bit rough in patches. But, it's a neat little chopper, and it was fun to "negotiate" with. All in all, I think I came out on top.

You sure did 👍

Indeed, what might not be visible on the pics is its size, it's really tiny, more like 144 kit 🙂

Greg, Greg, Greg....your output in quantity and especially in quality makes it harder and harder for me to find words .... Just another wonderful piece of work you show here.
The WK are hardly Plastic Kits .. They ar that bad and the material is that poor..
You made this look like it was a full injection kit... congrats mate
