Not much but it is a start... I had the FineMolds weapons set lying, so I started building the Sparrow and Phoenix missiles and gave the Phoenix exhausts a shot of brown red.

Album image #4
Diluted some Humbrol Maskol with water and used an injection needle to fill up the exhausts right up to the indicated rim.

Album image #5
Let’s see if this works.

Album image #6
Somehow the trick didn’t work... After spraying AK Stainless Steel and peeling out the Maskol it left some metallic patches. Having the needle around I decided to try to fill up the exhaust cups with acrylic paint and see if it works if I pull that pain

Album image #7
I stripped the exhausts and repainted them using Mr. Paint Graphite metallic. The trick with the syringe worked well with injecting diluted acrylic red paint though. When it dries it results in a nice demarcation.

Album image #8
Went ahead and started painting and decaling. Somehow the Phoenix in the picture have only some of the bands and stencils. Maybe those are just for demonstration or something.

😄 Welcome guys! The kit is still in Japan (backordered @ HLJ), so when it arrives I'll immediately post some progress pictures! 👍

Hmmmm, does that pic mean you are doing VF-1 or one of the other very early squadrons?

Patrick Hagelstein
Even squadronless! At the time of this picture it didn't have any markings except the number on it's tail. I like the clean paint job in a way though. Martin o informed me that this particular bird later showed up as one of the VX-4 Black Bunnies.

haha I think I ordered the last one they had in store so yours is backordered. It is a good choice for this specific topic.

This one is still an idea as I first have to receive the ordered kit and first have to finish my VF-21 build but you're more than welcome to join in Konrad.

I changed the kit to the Hobby Boss F-14A. The wings are going to be in inflight mode anyway and I wanted to save the 'All dangling out feature' for a future project. The Hobby Boss 'A' has the exact set up as needed in this case so again I can use the extra options in the proposed Fujimi kit for other builds.
