Donald Dickson IIYes, thats right. I am doing a spinny thingy from WWII. One of the FB pages I belong to i a live auction page. The owner had an idea for a group build. Throw your name in the hat, he will pick a partner for you. You each send the other a kit not over about 30.00. And no matter what it is, you HAVE to build THAT kit. So now I am building a Corsair. I sent him the Revell F-101.
So, I just started with painting the cockpit parts interior green and wheel wells with green zinc chromate. Nothing picture worthy yet. I dont know exactly which scheme I am doing yet, nor if it will be new or like the second pic. We shall see.

Donald Dickson IIOK, so got the pit, engine and wheel wells done. And on hold now. Waiting for seatbelts now. Not gonna try to do that once its together. So it sits for the next couple days.

Donald Dickson IIDecided I am going to do the Marines version from early on with the plain star no bars and top side intermediate blue.

Donald Dickson IIOK, finally got the belts in. So put it together and got paint on it. As I said, I am doing an earlier Marines version. So I did straight up intermediate blue. Followed by a couple rounds of lightened intermediate blue to fade it. I did it in as random a mottled pattern as I could manage. I think it came out fair decent. I have never done a WWII Corsair before. And certainly have never tried weathering something from the Pacific theatre.
So, I gloss coated it to put on decals and grime it up. I will let it sit until at least tomorrow night.

Donald Dickson IIJames, it is a nice little kit. Any difficulties I have had have been of my own doing. One of these days I will learn to pay closer attention to the instructions. LOL
Decaling has begun. Passenger side top completed.

Donald Dickson IILast update before I finish her up. Dirtied her up, got the flaps on, canopy painted and prop on. Landing gear, bomb, sites and antenna are about all that is left.

Donald Dickson IIAnd she is done. I dont think it turned out bad for my first Corsair and my first Pacific theatre plane.

I was totally winging it on the weathering. My best guess based on a couple black and white photos from the war. I have no clue where these things leaked oil or any of that. Glad you like it!!! 🙂
