Donald Dickson IIThank you sir. This is why I was saying to do this one. The only after market you HAVE to get is seat belt. For some unknown reason, they didn't mold them into the seat, only the back rest.

Donald Dickson IIWell, I made the final improvements. I replaed the pitot gauge covers I made with much more accurate resin ones. And I got bombs! I used a great reference site to get a realistic load out on her. f-15e.info/joomla/ So no more tweaks on this baby. She is where I want her.

Donald Dickson IIThanks guys. I dont know why, but I just got it in my head on this one that I was gonna make her as accurate and nice as I could. Not that I dont put good effort into every build. This one just spurred me further. Kind of how I am feeling about the Da Nang F-4.
Might have to do with the fact I absolutely adore 4s and 15s above all other planes. LOL

I'd have to go for two seat versions of course, if only for training purposes .....
(and scaring my friends of course 😄 )
For my vintage jet collection I would also go for a Sabre too, I've always liked the Skyhawk as well
but I would like a carbon fibre replica sport version of an Me262 with modern engines and equipment but with a cockpit styled from the original design 🙂

But I think I would feel safer in a modern carbon fibre replica than the original aircraft😉
I do think the Me 262 got a few things right despite it's engine limitations though,
it did kind of set the standard for layout aside from engine positions of course,
but bubble top (near enough), tricycle under carriage, swept wing, pointy fuselage (ish) etc.
WW2 is a fascinating era in terms of tech advancements though, anyhow waffle waffle 😄

And, the 262 Jumo engines suffered badly, mainly because of the lack of understanding of metallurgy. (the branch of science and technology concerned with the properties of metals and their production and purification.) 👍

Kerry, I remember reading that the blades had to be changed out every 25 hours of engine run time,
which is a lot of heavy maintenance if you ask me .... you would not want replica engines 😄
If I could have "only" plane it would probably be this beast 😄

Dave FlittonIt was scarcity of Chromium and Nickel that made the engines fail. Germans knew that the blades needed this important element but the allies had the mines locked up in their possession. To get those engines to work with the inferior metal alloys that they had to use, is a credit to German engineering.

Donald Dickson IITo be honest, that was an accident that I liked. When I was weathering it, I managed to rub some of the paint off. I liked how it looked so I did a bit more on purpose. Gives it a bit of wear that is not over the top.

GluefingerSmart move to use bottle caps as exhaust covers!
I am going to use that on my next build, provided I find a bottle big enough for 1:32 scale items.
