Thank you all for your kind words! It really is the prime piece on my airliner shelf.
> Were the gaps really that bad that it was even mentioned in the manual to use putty at certain areas?
Oh god yes. This kit is a grave for putty. I think I used almost a whole tube on it. The fuselage is split in 3 tubes, forward, mid, aft, and the mid section is a small bit too narrow, so I had to putty and sand the transitions to make it look smooth.
> I've done lots of lighting projects, so I know how much work they add to the job. Did you do it all yourself or was there some in the kit?
I did it myself. Only thing that was prefab were the thin wires on the SMD LEDs and I ordered a circuit for the flash sequence. Next time I definitely will not put the LEDs directly into the plane's hull but use some kind of fiber optics and run them through the plastic. The cables are way too brittle and cumbersome to putty in and sand without damaging.
> At least the instructions were "honest" in showing the need for putty.
True. It really lives up to its "reputation".
> I like very much models with lights and this one is a beauty. Well done.
Thank you very much!
