Nice model of a nice car. I prefer the old Ferrari's - much more classy.

Niiiice! I have one in the stash, hope I can do mine the same justice when building!
18 September 2017, 20:08
Spanjaard
thanks a lot Oudlad 🙂 that is very kind.
if i can give you a suggestion, do not airbrush the wind-shield. that was a really stupid mistake from my side! 😄
18 September 2017, 20:11
oudlad
Oops! Wll try to give that a miss mate!
18 September 2017, 20:39
Alexander Grivonev
Why did you airbrush the windshield anyway?😄 250 GTO, what a beautiful car **
19 September 2017, 09:32
Spanjaard
The idea was to get it more integrated with the rest... stupid idea, I know.

10 May 2018, 16:05

thanks Sebastian. there is certainly room for improvement specially in the windshield... but i am still happy with the rest of it 🙂

Sweet-looking ride!
21 May 2018, 23:05
Kerry COX
Spanjaard. You always come up with great results mate. 👍
I am wondering what type of paint was used and what polish you used, as the finish is really well done. 🙂
A sweet build indeed. 🙂 👍
21 May 2018, 23:11
Spanjaard
well, this is now kind an old build... paint was Tamiya bright red. polished with Tamiya compound (quite a lot of polishing indeed). i can not remember exactly what i used on top of that. i think it was Alclad gloss varnish. one thing for sure, i also polished it. my only regret (big one) was the (stupid) idea of also spraying the wind-shield. i wanted to unify the complete thing, but it certainly did not work as expected.
Thanks for the compliments Greg and Kezza. i am honoured
22 May 2018, 00:21
Kerry COX
Spanjaard, what ever it was, it was worth what you put into it mate. Aside from a glitch or two. The overall appearance and result will always have a soft spot in your heart for it. 😉 for sure. 🙂
Well done mate. 👍
(I like it a lot.) 🙂
22 May 2018, 00:44
Spanjaard
Indeed Kerry. 🙂
Thanks a lot

We can take that for the driving lessons Spanjaard. But I'll need to test drive it first! How long ago did you do this one Mate? Not up to your current standard but still pretty nice build and detailing was damn good too. Love the five point harness! Have you any more 'golden oldies' you can show?
22 May 2018, 11:42
Spanjaard
3 years ago. Not really an oldie 🙂
I think I could certainly do it better today.
If you want oldies, go to my "hall of shame" album 😉
Early Builds or Hall of Shame - 1980's and 1990's | Album by hetspanjaard
There are some pretty old builds there 🙂
There some builds there with their own album too

Spanjaard, I have looked high and wide for this kit, but no luck, as you have really inspired me to get hold of one. 🙂 👍 Those that are around are very expensive. 🙁
6 June 2018, 21:40
Spanjaard
great compliment Kerry 🙂 thanks.
6 June 2018, 21:49
Spanjaard
i just sent you a PM that may be interesting
6 June 2018, 21:52
Kerry COX
Yup. ! 🙂 Read and replied. 👍
6 June 2018, 22:41
Kerry COX
Well Spanjaard, I really hope your pleased with yourself. :-O
Because, I am now the owner of not one Ferrari, but THREE. ! ! !
Your a bad influence mate.
After I saw your little gem, I just HAD to get one, but the more looked, the more I got hooked. !
I got the 250 GTO, the 330 p4, and the Dino 246 GT..
And being all red ones, I don't think there will be any colour miss match. hahahaha
Happy daze.

3 Ferrari's Kez? Always wanted a rich friend. Spanjaard used to be rich but, he bought a swish airbrush and now he is as poor as a church mouse!
14 June 2018, 07:37
Spanjaard
3 ferrari's ! i really want to see what you do with them 🙂
14 June 2018, 20:42
Kerry COX
Spanjaard. It will be interesting to see what I WILL do with them mate, as there are lots of macro details I can improve. Like the rivets and screws on headlight surrounds and engine compartment details. ! 👍
More fun. 🙂 🙂 🙂

I just got all my email's from Japan to say these beasts are "on their way". 👍
I'll keep you posted mate. 👍
Cheers. 🙂
14 June 2018, 21:08
Spanjaard
you make them good, than i will take the pictures of your masterpieces as documentation to make a decent one in a year or two 🙂
14 June 2018, 21:13
Kerry COX
Every model I build is different from the last. Like painting on a canvas with tubes of paint. Never the same result no matter how many times you paint the same scene. So far, I have attempted 4 of the Tommy Ivo "Showboat", and 4 times I have had a different result. A big fail with each one. So I put it down to the kits tooling. Just a terrible mould from day one, and I wish they would 'update them'. 🙁
And Spanjaard, I will always look at your build of your Ferrari and hope I can do as good a job on mine as you have achieved with your 250 mate. Truthfully, I am really impressed with how you produced such an iconic vehicle and the finish that I can find no fault with. Only you will know what your unhappy with and it's looks, as I can't. I love it. 👍
14 June 2018, 22:10
Spanjaard
thanks a lot Kezza!!

15 July 2018, 16:39

Thanks Reinhart, Zsolt and Gordon. Not my best build, but I still like it a lot.
And thanks Kezza😉

Kerry COX
Your Ferrari build has created a big buzz Spanjaard. ! 🙂 👍
It got me all fired up, but not to compete with you but to say I now have a model of my own of the most sexy model of the sexiest car from Ferrari..........ever. And seeing what a beautiful job you made of the Italeri kit, I was trapped, pleasantly so I hasten to add.
15 July 2018, 22:47
Spanjaard
There is no competition possible my dear Kezza. Yours will be much better 🙂 there is no question about that. I am happy it inspired to build one of the most beautiful cars ever made. I will follow every post of it so one day I can make one to to be proud off 🙂. I like mine, but airbrushing the windows was a big blunder 😄 😄
15 July 2018, 23:53
Kerry COX
Spanjaard, Is there any possibility of you getting the window out. ? Or, even a replacement one. ? As aside from what you are not too pleased about, it would be worth it from you perspective to see what could be done. Maybe, ??? 👍
16 July 2018, 03:39
Spanjaard
no, i will not touch this model any more. if i do, the most likely outcome is ruined paint job.... no. i rather get another 250 and start from the beginning again 🙂 all the transparent parts (front and sides) are just one piece of plastic, firmly attached to the roof....this one will remain as it is. but thanks for the suggestion 🙂
17 July 2018, 06:12
Spanjaard
maybe polishing with 12000 pads could resolve the transparency of the glass... but again. this will remain as a testament of the evolution of my skills (i hope one day i can get a better looking car for that 😄 )
17 July 2018, 06:14
Kerry COX
A fair call Spanjaard. 🙂
The same with this kit, being a one piece clear parts for wind shield and windows.
I too have some models I wished I could have done a better job with, but as you pointed out, these will remain a constant reminder of our developing skills, and the vow to never repeat it again, LOL
Cheers my friend. 😉
17 July 2018, 06:40
Spanjaard
We all do 🙂
17 July 2018, 07:58
Kerry COX
👍 🙂 True. 🙂

Fantastic work on the most beautiful car ever made
22 August 2018, 19:52
Spanjaard
thanks
22 August 2018, 19:56
Kerry COX
Yes. I whole heartedly agree. A true masterpiece. None better. 👍 🙂
22 August 2018, 20:38
Spanjaard
no Kezza, that term is not correct for my this model. it is more suitable for those that did NOT ruin the transparent pieces. like your 250 😄
22 August 2018, 21:22
Peter Hardy
Well worth resurrecting some earlier builds from time to time. Very glad Kerry put this one up again!
22 August 2018, 21:29
Spanjaard
actually this time it was not Kerry, but Mike Day😉.
happy to see this build from time to time... i love that car, although is far from what i would like it to be. far from Kerry 250s😉
thanks anyway for the good words 🙂
22 August 2018, 22:55
Peter Hardy
Thanks Mike!!!
22 August 2018, 22:57
Kerry COX
Spanjaard. I am grateful to Mike also, and, I did mention that I will always consider yours as the definitive version, as I had never seen a 250 prior to yours, and my comment still stands................master. 😉 👍
23 August 2018, 00:17
Spanjaard
As you wish my dear Kezza 🙂
23 August 2018, 05:15
Kerry COX
Cheers my dear friend. 🙂 And, I am not trying to blow smoke up your butt when I say that mate. You set the standard very high with your build, and not too many I have seen could come any where near or match your work. 👍
23 August 2018, 09:50
Spanjaard
Thanks Kezza! You are too kind 🙂
23 August 2018, 10:54
Kerry COX
I speak only the truth my friend. 🙂 👍 Cheers. 😉

Sexy car and nicely done too !! 🙂
My favorite pic just because of the cheeky sneak a peek through an open window,
something I've done a few times when a posh car is the neighborhood 😄 -

Choppa? Were you offering them directions? They were obviously lost!
10 September 2018, 23:16
Choppa Nutta

Spanjaard
thanks a lot Choppa, really appreciated 🙂

Djordje Nikolic
Nice Ferrari! Wasnt one recently sold for $50mil or something?
14 September 2018, 22:58
Spanjaard
thanks. I think i could part ways with my model for that price 🙂 😄
yes, i think i have seen something in the news about that.... it is one of the most beautiful cars ever build. i think i will need to do another one one day 🙂
14 September 2018, 23:04
Djordje Nikolic
I think the owner of the real one should buy your model for 1/10th of the price, just to keep it inside of the house!
14 September 2018, 23:05
Choppa Nutta
I think 1'24th of the price would be more appropriate😉 😄
Still though one of the best looking Ferraris around 🙂

Funny how the best things in life begin with F ....
Fun, funk, Floyd, flamenco, fudge, Ferrari, fire, among other things😉 😄
14 September 2018, 23:08
Spanjaard
friends of course😉 among other things.....
yes, 1/24th of the price of the real one would be welcome 😄 😄
