Great work! The Hinomaru's are painted? How did you do the weathering? I want to replicate this worn look on my Spitfire and a good tip is always welcome.

Are you going to 'bleach out' the overall finish a little more.? As this much chipping indicates it has been in service for some time and it would not look as crisp as when it first came off the assembly line.
I guess that would be up to where it was deployed, as quite a lot of them were Island based, like the yank Corsairs, and they were a pale salty looking bird after just a month.
I am not looking for faults here ok, just thinking aloud . 🙂
I do like what you have done, a lot. 🙂

Thanks Thomas ... Yes Hinomaru are painted ... I made chipping with Mig product called "Heavy Chipping Effect" ... Paint Aluminium as primary color ... Then apply the chipping product ... Let's dry ... Then apply the secondary color (acrylic only)... Let's dry again... Apply water with pencil ... Water enters the acrylic layer and once in contact with the product, it dissolves ... The acrylic layer over blow up when using a toothpick or hard brush.

I was just reading where they were operating out of the Philippines and also the "Battle for Okinawa".
I am NOT a rivet counter, and I really do like it when the overall impression looks authentic, or as close as we believe it would have looked at the time. 🙂
I am fascinated by the technique you used to get that sunburned chipped paint look.

Everything is beautiful but try to first apply the yellow and then the main .the consumption of tape and paint at times less ..but it's on the next model

@Alexander : don't worry, I know the best painting order 😉
The chipping method with MIG product has a limited action in time ... All painting must be done in less than half a day for chipping (I test it)...Otherwise the product have no longer chipping action
And make all painting with drying time in order to make a sure masking ... it almost impossible in this limited time
But I agree with you it's not the most economic method 🤔
