to describe what I am doing is relatively simple. The kit doesn't have clear lenses for the wing-tip formation lights. I cut out the plastic where the lights should go, then super glued some acrylic rod I had into that gap. The rod is just 1/4" round that I cut into disks that is just wider than the thickness of the wing. Then I cut those disks in half making two half circles, then into roughly quarters (to match the profile of the formation lights. Then I drilled a hole in the acrylic to appear like bulbs (red/green). As you can see in that other album, with a sanding stick and some time, I will shape that down to roughly the shape of the lights, then polish them until they are clear and smooth. They turned out great on my tempest (assuming the liquid mask will come up when I'm done with it).

clifford, this plastic in this kit ranks up with the two best kits I have ever built. The other being their 1/48 Spitfire Mk IXc. The set of main marking decals for the five options provided in the profipack are above average, but a little sticky. It only requires a little bit more patience than normal, and lots more microset, but they settle down incredibly. The stencil decals, apparently printed in 2014 from an earlier release, are the worst decals I have ever used. They were so bad, in fact, that I complained to Eduard (While also heaping praise on them for the quality of this kit and several of the others I have built from them). To make it up to me, they offered to send me a set of decals for any kit I wanted. The great news is that I have a BF-110C kit of theirs that didn't have the decals for the profipack version, so they are sending those. In sum, highly recommend their kits, especially the Spitfire and this new tool bf-109 (also their Hellcat is very good), and while the stencil decals in this were terrible, that is a relatively easy fix given the amount of solid available after market stencil decals that exist for the 109s.
