The wheel bays and gun bays are all pe. Models in themselves. Very intimidating. Need to get some Aires resin 50 cals to put in them

UPDATE. Wimped out of the BigEd set. Going to save it for another model. Just too complicated for me. So will do it without and use it on the MkI Hellcat of the Dual Combo Hellcats in my stash.

Nice cockpit - you are not alone: I also have some Eduards PE in my stash I would not (yet?) dare to touch! The hobby should be fun and not frustrating 🙂

Look at my Sea King Project Thomas. Just picked it up from a friend. Now that has some PE, white metal and resin. That's intimidating!

what would life be without challenges? I currently take a break from fitting the SBS resin cockpit into the Kinetic Mirage IIIS 🙂

Nice work. PE can be very frustating, I almost always only use the seatbelts from a PE set. Some nice detail painting looks good too!

She looks ready for the paintjob. Excited how it will turn out. How's the build/quality of the kit?

Awesome! Made some mistakes. But still looks good. Having issues with laying down Vallejo Black Primer. Clogs my 0.4 Infinity Airbrush. Might thin it a little next time.

She does indeed look good. For me, the vallejo black primer has always worked great. On the pictures, the primer looks very smooth tough.

It's on the underside of the tail. Will pic it when I get home. Think I need to
Lower my psi and put a few drops of thinner.

Maybe sand it a bit down and redo the primer in that area.

Going to have a look when I get home. Also, deciding whether or not to use Vallejo Insignia White or XF-2. Never used the Vallejo but it is in their US Navy Air War set as the right colour. Going to use their Intermediate and NS sea blue.

I used vallejo air insignia white recently on the wheel bays of my super hornet. Works well on black primer.

Cheers mate the whole bottom of the plane and undercarriage are white. Going to black base theory it. Put some splodges and then cover with thinned overcoat. Try and get some interest in a flat finish. Also going to put some interior green down on worn areas and sponge some Maskol over it before I apply the top coulour. These Hellcats were used and abused on the Pacific. One of the big factors in the US winning the war.

Sounds good, when will we see some pictures? 😛

Sorted it thinned the Primer with a little UMP THINNER. Sanded it back and it looks fine! Painted the other odds and sods like the engine and bombs.

Looking nice to me. How is the kit? Have often thought of trying one.

Great kit. Goes together like a dream. Would recommend to anyone. Big bird though for 1:48 prop. Not quite a P-47 but a substantial size.

Thanks, and the price isn't half bad either.

Lovely James. Falls together. Undercarriage a little fiddly but beyond that brilliant kit. Watch sanding seems raised detail. Would not use sprue glue and fill with something else.

Looking great Dan. I have found that I usually need to thin my Valejo paints, but I like them very much.
