MiG E-166 Modelsvit 1:72
As a boy I was fascinated by an aircraft called the E-166 that came from the house of Mikoyan-Gurevich.The facts were usually as bad as the bad photos at the time.
But what you quickly knew and had to tell the world out of propaganda interests, it was an airplane that set three world records.
Alexander Fedotow reached a speed record on October 7, 1961 on a closed 100 km route with 2401 km / h.
Further records followed on July 7, 1962. On a straight stretch of 15/25 km, pilot Georgi Mossolow flew a speed of 2681 km / h and on September 11, 1962 Pyotr Ostapenko flew in level flight at an altitude of 22,670 m the FAI confirms this, world record at the time.
The development goes back to the year 1956 and started with the Je-150. A line of development of heavy fighter aircraft at Mikoyan-Gurevich.
The aircraft is now in the Museum of the Soviet Air Force in Monino.
For better processing, a ring at the air inlet was cut off and only glued back on later.
Technologically well made, the cockpit forms a unit with the inlet cone.
Just as the E-166 is in Monino, it had the enlarged wings.
The cockpit hood has been redrawn.
Die Arbeit wird mit einem besseren Einblick ins Cockpit belohnt.

Fantastic model and stunning photos! #2 to #5 look so realistic that at first I was convinced that you provided us the (full color) reference photos. (And I am happy I have the same kit in my stash 😉 )

Thank you Robert, thank you Mark. Yes, taking pictures of the finished models is just as much fun as building them. In this forum you can see many excellent models, but unfortunately they are often photographed unfavorably.

Große Klasse, mal wieder! Großartig dass sich ein Hersteller findet, der sich so eines Exoten annimmt und noch mal großartig, dass du diesen Meilenstein so gekonnt in Szene gesetzt hast. 🙂
