James C Thanks Michael. Looks like something out of Mad Max doesn't it?
A very disappointing kit though. Will take some outdoor shots when/if the sun comes out.

Not my best work, as I lost my rag with it towards the end unfortunately :#
Haven't been able to take any outdoor shots of the finished model as it been very wet all week. :(

Ingo F I dont know. :D But i had some problems with my Leo build as well. Almost put that one on hold but somehow managed to continue the work. :P
25. June at 08:31:05
Dan M Somehow I missed this one! Really nice build and paint job! I do envy your freehand german camo airbrush skills as I can't seem to be able to do anything other than a big mess :)
02. July at 15:40:53
James C Thanks Dan. :)

I've been trying to get tighter spray patterns and am getting a little better at it. So far I've found setting the compressor at about 10 psi and removing the needle guard from the tip of the airbrush helps a lot. But the tricky part is getting the tip of the needle close to the surface of the model and keeping it at a constant distance while spraying the pattern.
02. July at 22:06:35
Rene Scheiblich Wow. Mean machine!
The stripes turned out really well. Seems you're ready to do some awesome night fighter camo
Good tip, I tried removing the guard... But the badger 150 won't spray without it... :(
08. July at 16:49:09

Murad ÖZER love how those fruils look...
12. July at 08:24:06
James C Cheers guys. For some reason I just love assembling Friul track links!
A world of difference after wrestling with aftermarket plastic links.
Makes you appreciate both their sturdiness and simplicity even more.

@ Rene - Cheers for the link Rene. I've got the hull dry fitting quite nicely at present. Not worth the trouble of throwing everything out of alignment on the rear end for the sake of 1.5mm. I can live with that. ;)

Am hoping to finish off assembly today and look at giving it a coat of primer over the weekend.
12. July at 21:30:02
Rui S looking good . I've this kit. I'm in
12. July at 23:45:02
Rene Scheiblich Just thought I'd drop it in :)
Although it looks like you've got plenty of space left between track and fender, so yeah why bother :)
13. July at 15:15:41
Rene Scheiblich I got my ISU today... I seriously wonder what drugs they were on when creating the cast texture. There are literally mountains on the mantlet and hullfront :S
13. July at 16:43:15
James C Should be easy to take care of with a little light sanding? I don't know if it's my eyes but mine doesn't appear to be all that pronounced? What boxing do you have and are the sponsons closed off on the bottom of yours? Mine are open, so that's my only real gripe with the kit other than the horrible opaque colour of the plastic.
That reminds me. I should have painted the insides of both halves of the barrel black before gluing it together as you can see right down inside of it. Another brain fart. :#
13. July at 22:47:56
Rene Scheiblich I've got the #6047. You're right, sanding will take care of the rough texture quickly, no big deal. It just stood out when inspecting the kit, too grainy and way too pronounced for my liking :)
I have the Dragon plastic in good memory from the kingtiger, nice to work with imho. :)

The sponsons seem to be wide open in this boxing as well. I'll stuff it up with sheet, although noone will ever see it if I don't put photos up here ;)

Can you get in there with a small brush? It is a quite big gun after all :D
14. July at 10:33:54
James C Yeah, I think I can get a paint brush down inside the barrel, but I will plug it off first behind the vents with a ball of blue tack. ;)

I was considering plugging off the sponsons with some plastic sheet, but once the tracks are on, you'd be hard pressed to tell unless you removed the front guards... which I've chosen not to do. Just need to spray the inside black. I wonder if that is why it was engineered to sit a little lower than normal?

I got the hull closed up yesterday. The front end needed a little filing to get sitting flush, but I got a near perfect join in the end. I'm glad I didn't attempt to raise it 1.5mm as I think it would of caused more head aches that it was worth trying to correct.

The only filler required so far has been on the end caps of the external fuel tanks which I have plugged off with Mr Surfacer 500.

Rui S Hi Mate,
You pulled it off Greatly. Nice smooth weathered effect as you wanted.
I think for a kit that you pay more or less 20 bucks/euros, the result is Great you could build 2 or 3 Italeri kits instead 1 you know the trend brands...
I love Italeri price/quality ratios.
I'm happy I've helped in some way. Thanks for your words.
Well done
