Jean-Michel Tilquin Excellent work again!
9. November at 07:27:53
Holger Kranich James, in this context it means: Guys engage/keep going/hold fast.
Its a famous saying from Graf (Count) Luckner and his windjammer SMS Seeadler (sea eagle).

Btw: The ensign which Luckner would raise on the Seeadler to convey hostile intent is now on display at the Auckland War Memorial Museum.

Zoltán Barna Wow, very nice! :) I like this Camo painting so much! :)
9. November at 07:58:38
James C Thanks for your feedback guys, always appreciated :)

@ Holger - Awesome, thanks for the translation. I suspected it meant something like "Hold fast" due to the similar spelling but the word "Jungs" threw me completely. ;) Also, thanks for the info re the Auckland War Memorial Museum. Will have to look into that as it's been a long time since I visited it.
9. November at 17:47:35

Treehugger Very nice. I would add a black pin wash to the chrome protective shield for the vertical exhaust tube. Presumably, this steel material is perforated in real life.
27. October at 14:07:30
Bill Newcomer James, very nice build and thanks for all the heads up notes on the build. I made a list of 13 items to watch for when I build mine.

Bob Hall Man ! That's pretty slick !
27. October at 21:49:11
James C Thanks guys

@ Treehugger. You may be right, but I was a bit dubious on adding further washes after the front grill incident. Another option would have been to drill them out. This was a VERY basic kit with which to just test the waters and do a little exploring ;)

7. November at 17:13:52
D. Meer Really need to de-chrome my parts of the old kits aswell, 40/50 yrs old kits have alot of bad chrome and fitting...de-chrome with bleach, get rid of seems, prime and re-chrome :D

10. August at 17:54:42
James C @ Stephan, Ingo, Kerry, Neuling, Roland & Jos - Thanks for your comments guys. Very much appreciated. :)

@ Kerry & Roland - I hope my comments aren't too much of a put off of this kit, but I did struggle (A LOT) with the addon parts. Most notably, the replacement electronics bay covers, the "canoe" that sits on top of its back and the tail boom. The rest of the kit was pretty good otherwise.

If you can afford them, I'd recommend getting a pair of replacement resin engines, and at least the Eduard coloured photoetch for the interior of the cockpit... but a replacement resin interior wouldn't go amiss either. I was tempted to get the replacement engines, but the cost of shipping them from overseas was just too much (more than the kit itself) and I thought that I could get away with using the kit decals for the cockpit instruments due to the canopy being tinted. Unfortunately they are more visible that what I had anticipated.

Thanks again
10. August at 18:55:27
Kerry COX That said James, I am really motivated by your results and how well you made it look so easy.
I am actively looking for all you have raised that will help improve the kit overall. :)
Thanks for the feed back.

James C The Legend accessory set finally arrived yesterday, and is loaded with very nicely detailed bits and pieces which includes ammo boxes (large and small) a replacement spot light (with canvas cover) water cans, stretcher beds, armour vest, duffle bags, numerous tarps and a couple of ammunition belts to lay over the shield on the .50 cal.

But, having already painted the lens of the kit spot light and installed the assorted ammunition boxes on the turret, I'll save the contents of this set to use on either the Vietnam era M109 or M113 (or both) instead.

22. June at 17:39:55
Robert Fuqua It has happened on one side only, in a US Air Force paint shop before lol. A couple of guys masked and painted the drop shadow the wrong way, and the entire vertical stabilizer had to be repainted and re-stenciled on the outside!

I painted aircraft for 20 years in the USAF. I've seen quite a bit... ;)

Hopefully some people will find good use for reference pictures although she was heavily modified from her original WW2 configuration. I'd like to visit the Missouri as well one day.

31. May at 02:03:32

31. May at 02:12:28
Peter Hardy No Bob, that is very definitely an American thing. Eric Bana took over two years to restore his XB Hardtop because he couldn't find panels and refused to buy parts off a running XB because he didn't want to take another one off the road. I think Aussie coupe dot com exported more XA, XB and XCs out of Oz into USA than there are left here. Like hens teeth now.
31. May at 09:37:43

21. April at 14:28:55
James C Thanks Chris... I'm too cheap to get a photo booth.... besides my photography skills leave a lot to be desired ;)

@ M M - Hard to go wrong with a Hasegawa kit as they too are very well engineered. ;)
21. April at 18:34:52
wilky $20 for a Hasegawa Mosquito is still cheap.
Not on the same level as $20 for an Eduard kit but still good.

22. April at 21:51:50
James C Haha, yeah I noticed that one of the landing gear doors had become askew when looking at the pictures so I've since fixed that... and then I noticed that I'd overlooked painting the insides of the radiators inboard of the engines. :#

I was also tempted to add some chipping to the props and edges of some of the metal cowling panels on the engines and canopy frames but decided not to push it in the end.
Better to learn to crawl, walk then run. Maybe next time though ;)

James C @ Holger - Thanks mate. The blast bag is part of the kit, consisting of four (plastic) parts (top, bottom and left/right sides etc) These parts, as well as the revised engine deck and tracks are what make up some of the "new parts" included in this Korean war E8 from the original WW2 E8 kit M4A3E8 Sherman "Easy Eight" (Tamiya 35346, 1:35)

Neuling This build is an eyecatcher. Beautiful panzergrau and decent weathering. Wehrmacht at its best!

Peter Hardy Nailed the olive green Jimbo. Straight out of the bottle or was a bit of adjustment needed? Anyway, another beauty mate.

James C Cheers mate.

The Tamiya olive drab is quite dark straight out of the bottle, so I used yellow as a pre-shader instead of white, then after spraying the base coat, I added a little more yellow to the remaining olive drab in the paint cup to lighten it further still for the hi-lights. ;)

Peter Hardy Well it worked a treat! Nailed it as they say!

James C Cheers mate. It's one of those colours that's hard to pin down as everyone has there opinion on it lol.

Martin Oostrom If everyone has an opinion on the colour, you're entitled to your own ;)
It simply looks great

James C Thanks Martin. In the end (after the pre-shading and post shading) the final result was pure luck. Wish I could state otherwise. ;)
