Lode Schildermans James, I like the subtle weathering of your models. It has become, IMHO, your trademark. I truly am a fan of your builds.
28. June at 07:43:59
Neuling I agree with Lode: James, stick to armor, your builds are really inspiring! I`m working on a Vietnam diorama and your dusting here is exemplary.
28. June at 08:56:05
James C Thanks Ingo, Slavo, Lode & Neuling :)
28. June at 20:11:37
Thomas Kirschbaum looks good!
28. June at 21:29:40
Chris Nice work! I like the weathering.
28. June at 21:54:39
James C Thanks Thomas & Chris :)
29. June at 05:14:59
Martin Oostrom I disagree with Neuling. Your armor is superb, but your cars and planes are great as well. Don't keep those away from us!

James C Thanks Martin. :)

Robert Fuqua Beautiful paint job!
22. June at 15:05:33
Slavo Hazucha As long as the bird on the inside of the fin looks in the right direction there are no points down from my side ;) Would be interesting to find out if this did not happened somewhere real :)
22. June at 17:39:55
Robert Fuqua It has happened on one side only, in a US Air Force paint shop before lol. A couple of guys masked and painted the drop shadow the wrong way, and the entire vertical stabilizer had to be repainted and re-stenciled on the outside!

I painted aircraft for 20 years in the USAF. I've seen quite a bit... ;)
23. June at 13:35:43
James C Thanks Robert :)

I bet the someone got a colossal bollocking over that incident ;)

8. June at 22:01:09
James C Hehe yeah I rekon ;) I took these nearly 6 years ago when I was last in Los Angeles. I believe there's been a lot more restoration work completed since then so would be cool to go back for another looksie.
Hopefully some people will find good use for reference pictures although she was heavily modified from her original WW2 configuration. I'd like to visit the Missouri as well one day.

Michael Hickey Yeah I don't think the accelerator was all that heavy if I remember correctly, not like when I drove my old mans 79 Trans Am, that was a heavy petal to push down. Put the foot down, and my arse was 200 meters behind me before I knew it. :D
31. May at 01:38:58
Peter Hardy A thing of beauty JC. The best Mustang ever built wasn't a Mustang!
31. May at 02:03:32
James C LOL!
31. May at 02:12:28
Peter Hardy No Bob, that is very definitely an American thing. Eric Bana took over two years to restore his XB Hardtop because he couldn't find panels and refused to buy parts off a running XB because he didn't want to take another one off the road. I think Aussie coupe dot com exported more XA, XB and XCs out of Oz into USA than there are left here. Like hens teeth now.
31. May at 09:37:43
Munkyslut Bana's devotion to that car was nothing short of epic! I'm not a film or tv watcher & I didnt even know who he was but I'm full of respect for him

M M @wilky looking at the Mosquito kits I stand corrected. It was the Hasegawa kit.
21. April at 14:28:55
James C Thanks Chris... I'm too cheap to get a photo booth.... besides my photography skills leave a lot to be desired ;)

@ M M - Hard to go wrong with a Hasegawa kit as they too are very well engineered. ;)
21. April at 18:34:52
wilky $20 for a Hasegawa Mosquito is still cheap.
Not on the same level as $20 for an Eduard kit but still good.
21. April at 20:23:11
Kerry Cox In the masters hands, the 'value' increases ten fold. ;)
It really is a pleasure to look at mate, and knowing what skills you bought to the subject, makes all the difference.
21. April at 22:11:16
James C Thanks again Kerry. Still plenty of room for improvement though ;)
22. April at 18:53:45
Kerry Cox More 'fiddling' I suppose now. ? ;)
22. April at 21:51:50
James C Haha, yeah I noticed that one of the landing gear doors had become askew when looking at the pictures so I've since fixed that... and then I noticed that I'd overlooked painting the insides of the radiators inboard of the engines. :#

I was also tempted to add some chipping to the props and edges of some of the metal cowling panels on the engines and canopy frames but decided not to push it in the end.
Better to learn to crawl, walk then run. Maybe next time though ;)

James C @ Holger - Thanks mate. The blast bag is part of the kit, consisting of four (plastic) parts (top, bottom and left/right sides etc) These parts, as well as the revised engine deck and tracks are what make up some of the "new parts" included in this Korean war E8 from the original WW2 E8 kit M4A3E8 Sherman "Easy Eight" (Tamiya 35346, 1:35)

Brian Eberle Great build! Were the T80 tracks from the kit, or after market?
25. March at 20:08:49
James C Thanks Brian. :)

The T80 tracks are included in the kit which is another point of difference from the original WW2 E8 kit.
25. March at 20:26:55
Brian Eberle I converted my Tamiya (25175) M4A3E8 from a late WWII into a Korean war version, although the track links in mine are incorrect for 1951.

Peter Hardy Nailed the olive green Jimbo. Straight out of the bottle or was a bit of adjustment needed? Anyway, another beauty mate.
9. January at 05:02:56
James C Cheers mate.

The Tamiya olive drab is quite dark straight out of the bottle, so I used yellow as a pre-shader instead of white, then after spraying the base coat, I added a little more yellow to the remaining olive drab in the paint cup to lighten it further still for the hi-lights. ;)
9. January at 19:54:28
Peter Hardy Well it worked a treat! Nailed it as they say!
10. January at 06:21:43
James C Cheers mate. It's one of those colours that's hard to pin down as everyone has there opinion on it lol.

It simply looks great
10. January at 06:45:20

Don "The Don" Hi Peter. It is just super to see a project unfold like that. I have been away from modelling for about a month. James's Lang has inspired me enough to take out a stash item. Takom 1/35 Merkava 2b and make a start last night. Annual holidays coming up shortly but I will keep at it. Weathering is my hardest part as too much takes away from the model or messes it up. I have to work on that area big time. Good luck with the mighty Bismark. You have made a very good start. Love the brass.
24. September 2018 at 12:43:39
James C Thanks Jean-Michel, Rui, Johne 69 and Moritz and sorry for the late reply guys. :)

Peter Hardy Don, welcome to the world of mere mortals. Jimbo inspires an awful lot of us. You are not alone there. I put him in the "Master" category of armour modellers. Just awesome build after awesome build. I hate it when Kiwi's excel at something. (Just an Aussie / Kiwi thing). Good luck with the Merkava, any problems don't hesitate to PM ........................ James!

James C Cheers Don and glad I have been of some inspiration. Good luck with the Merkava and post some progress pics when able.
30. September 2018 at 02:42:56
Lode Schildermans I like very much the camo. Do you do intend to do weathering in the future?
3. October 2018 at 20:59:04
James C Thanks mate. I've weathered it about as much as I wanted to.
I could have taken it further, but didn't want it to look too used and abused etc. I guess it's a fine line between too little and too much. On past builds, I've been guilty of over doing it a tad. ;)
