Ferguson Petit Gris TE-20 - wip

I started one of the two tractors out of the double set by Heller. A new territory. I'll start with the TE-20. This was the early issue of the tractor. Built in Great Britain by Ferguson. It is painted grey all over. This is where the name came from: "petit gris" -> the "little grey". The differnet to the FF-30 is the location, where it was produced (the in France), the red engine / suspension and some minor details. I'll build them both one after one.

During my build, I discovered some issues in the construction sheet. I'll show them too. Not that big issues but they are there. If you look through the manual, it is clear, that there are misstakes. But if you fixed on each step, it could cause problems.

It is always good to know possible pitfalls. Thanx for sharing.

You're welcome!
It is the first time for years, that I go through the instructions step by step.

All right. I added some more pictures of the steps.

And finally I made the hood foldable. For that, I milled some material off the inside of the hoods side. For a bonus, I removed some material at the bottom of the bracket of the cooler. That gives the hood some more room to move. The result is, that the hood stays open, when lifted up 🙂

High quality build, as always. I'm watching, it's a really interesting subject, a new territory, as you wrote it.

Christian you better check your pics not your best album
Very interesting and informative
But your pics are not very good on this build
Its not first time I hear about chocking instructions and bad fits from a heller kit
I had a citroen kit were instructions were only in French
I don't know French so I sold the kit and the poor guy that bought
It gave up on it because of fitment issues he said just to hard work
So now I don't touch heller kits anymore
But hats of for you for making a tractor out of it

I don't know, what's the reason in for those huge pictures (shown as slideshow)
When the album is shown as list or mosaic, everything is fine.
I'd never upload crappy pictures.

It looks like an issue with all albums (I checked my projects "in progress")
Other albums show the same issue.

Yes I think your right I had a look at another album
I know pics were good on it
But same problem there
I think a problem on the site and not your pics
I am sure we will see more comments like this in a few hrs

I reported that problem to Tim (Mr. Scalemates). I'm not the only one, how reported it.

I've missed this until now and I'm sorry the site is having album issues because I love the Ferguson. First tractor I ever drove was some sort of Ferguson.

It is. The parts are really little and mostly thin like needles. I had to be carefully like with no other car I built so far.

Done. A little weathering completes the tiny tractor. Love it 🙂. Now. In the kit is the second tractor. Do I start it or will I give my brother the chance, to build the first tractor in his model-kit-building-career? We will see.

I remember making a doller when I was a kid driving a few of these
Christian the steering wheel was black on the outside ring
But fabulous job

But I will forgive you

Nice result. The weathering is just fine for a rather new vehicle. I only think it badly needs a little splash of color to create a bit more visual interest. Maybe a cushion for the drivers seat.

like it bro!
you can build the second 😉

Thank you, mates 🙂
@Michael ... I'm a bloody beginner on weathering. Often I have a picture in my mind but I don't get the way to it. On this I failed to weather the seat. I don't know. I don't get it. It sucks. I'm thinking about to spray lightly tan on it (the bottom/underside/wheelhouses) for a little more dust or/and smoke of the exhaust pipe.

@Dominik ... I think, I will. But I'm overthinking the way of built because of the weathering. I'm thinking on it.

I think the whethering is perfect
To make it look more interesting and more like the real thing
I think its just a matter of putting a bit more colour on it
Like not all on these things were grey

I agree with Jv, the weathering fits. The vehicle just started its work life. My suggestion was to add a little colorful detail or two to break the monochrome appearance a bit.
Heavier weathering I would try first on some leftover pieces until you feel more comfortable. You build a beautiful model.

Thank you for the clarification. I know what you mean. The thing is, that the TE 20 was grey all over. Boring. I know. That is where it's name came from: Le Petit Gris - the little grey.
The FE 30 (some years younger) had a red drive train. But basically it is the same tractor. This is the next built out of this double kit.

I'll take my time and take a look in it, where I can set some marks to break the monotony.
