Thank you guys 🙂 This puck ups are a nice change after "a hand full" Corvettes. The kits are really good. If you take care about the molding lines, you could filler it only once. I didn't see some at the fenders....

I had a C30 wrecker about 25 years ago, had a 5 litre straight 8 & a 4 speed in it.
I bought it off a local US Airforce base.
It did 10 to the gallon ffs......
Looked well cool tho😎

What are your plans Christian? Tow truck?
24 April 2020, 22:58
Nigel Chapman
Would love to see that Munky. Christian, are both models going to be the same ?
25 April 2020, 00:45
Christian W
Thank you for the comments!

Both Chevys will be the same. Twins😉 A stock pick up truck. The first two pictures are the original. The changes will be:
Lowering the suspension for a reglar level (not that high roller)
Adding the lamps on the roof
Changing the sporty rims to steelies with chrome hub cap
Changing the all terrain tires to road tires

It's hard to tell of the picture whether it is a GMC or a Chevy badge. The owner of the pick up truck says it was a Chevy badge on it. The second picture shows me a red badge - GMC

At the end they will be like the snow plow with street wheels.

like the seats how they came out. perfect!
26 May 2020, 15:02
Christian W
Thank you! Today one layer of flat clear cote on the seats. Like I wished. Then brought them in shape with some paint. Also I painted the dash board. I think the interior is done. Next stop the rear bumper and widening the track with to get ready with the suspension.
Fine sanding and a finished layer of clear cote to the body at least before assembling it.

the rear bumper came out great Bro! Looks really smooth now

yes, agreed. the upholstery is awesome. it looks perfect Bro!

Thank you! That motivates a lot! This kit is quite easy to build but it lasts and lasts. All the self made parts using a lot of time. Good, that I didn't have to do the rims.

The rear bumpers are ready to sand a little.

Never thought of making a decal for patterned fabric, Cool idea. Having said that I've always done my interiors as leather interiors, but Now I've seen the patterned decal, that might change. I can see that as an application for the Cobra and other custom stitched seats in supercars.

Christian W
🙂 It was only because I didn't find anysing on the market, which is just close to the pattern I needed. The work to do that is worth it definitally. The only Thing you have atention to is not to use much clear cote onto the decal paper. Mine were a Little thik what made it a Little havier to bend them on the top to the rear. I needed more decalsoftener.

Or a cheap colour laser printer - Doesn't need decal film then as far as I am aware.
3 June 2020, 14:55
Christian W
Interessting information. I'll check my other prints. I've been using a laser printer. I have to see, whether I did clear coat on every piece of paper. If there is one without clear coat on it, I'm gonna try this to use.

Chaz Gordon
My understanding of the use of decal film on DIY is as a waterproofing agent, which is very necessary on Inkjet, but laser toner is heat bonded powder and an inseparable part of the substrate.

Tom ...
Really enjoy seeing this build. I love that you are replicating a someone's actual truck, and nailing it too. Is this going to be a gift to the truck owner? Are you making two so you can keep one yourself?

Dominik Weitzer
Very very nice Bro! well done so far!
6 June 2020, 07:40

Small steps. I'm still working on the rear bumper. Two layers of filler are done, another round of small spots for putty.
The hitches are done and waiting for the bumpers.
Meanwhile I had to take one bed apart. The gap between the bed and cabin was from narrow to wide. No way to accept it. That is fixed.

The lights on the roof are in place, the bumpers are painted black. A hand full of parts and the GMCs are ready for a road trip.

That is a lovely pair of short beds Christian, perfect paint & trim choices, very accurate 😉

Looking great Christian, I love being able to make models based on real vehicles that actually mean something to someone.

@all ... Thank you very much! I much appreciate your interesst and comments.
I like to see them getting to the end. It's the first time I'm building two identical model kits. I even never built twins in the past. Either at the same time nor years apart.
@Chaz ... I started molding 9 months ago! The first part I did was a removable top for the red C7. Then the T-Tops for a Chevy MonteCarlo. It's still a process of learning. From mold to mold the skills rise because of failures and another try.
@Tom ... As far as I know, both GMC are for one person. Sadly. I'm building them for my brother. I won't see them go. But like Chaz wrote: there are people, which means the kit a lot. And the happiness of them is more than put them in the shelf to get dusty. Sure, I'd like to keep one. Then I have to built another *lol* I still have one model kit left😉

Thank you mates 🙂
I like this model kit. It is good to build. Only the bed needs a little attention to get it in line with the body. On one GMC I had to take the right panel off to correct it. With a closer look from the rear the bed is warped. Don't know, where this comes from. I fixed it with the correction of the sidewall.

I still thought red is hard to get properly on the picture. But this color belongs to the same category. Somehow.
It is a matter of the light - as you can see in the gallery.
