The most realistic dents I've ever seen on a model. Great Work!

Erik I have completed one smashed car and am working on the Dirty Mary crazy Larry damaged car before it hits the train. So some would expect this from me. Still undecided on this one.

Decision made! After spending 2hrs in trying to correct the hood, which still won't be totally correct and I'm only 1/3rd done and realizing it will take another 8-10 hrs to get it there, as well as working on making the rims, and looking at what it would take to do the wrecked version, I will be doing the car wash scene at the end of the movie.

What's the difference between the hood and the wheels? Can you show it Tim?

If you click on the model kit above you can see on the hood 2 scoops, and if you look at the picture of the car in the movie you'll see it's a stock hood. The wheels in the kit have mags, the movie car has hub caps and chrome rings. They did tease me with 1 of the hub cap and ring in the kit, so I'm trying to replicate it.

Film & tv cars always makes for a really interesting build, just by the huge amount of research & the large number of inconsistencies.
Take this 73 Mach1 that Tim's done such a great job on; most of the inconsistencies arise from the custom fabrication done to the car.
Steel wheels with beauty rings & dog dish caps are cheap, plentiful & actually really durable, factory styled road wheels like the Magnum 500's etc aren't!
Same went for the hood, a plain flat hood treated to a matte black panel looked the part but was a fraction of the cost of a Shaker or Ram Air hood, easy & cheap to source too.
What's really interesting about the original Eleanor was the enormous amount of special fabrication that Halicki found it necessary to provide the strength & durability for that epic chase scene.
It's worth looking up H.B. Halicki online, his story is fascinating.
It's those little bits of info that the likes of Tim make sure they get right in order to build such a faithful replica.
I'm a mad car & bike nut anyway but I still luv the research, it's one of the best aspects of kit building for me 😉

On Youtube, My son and I found H. B. Halicki's 1982 film The Junkman, 1983 Deadline auto theft (a mash up of Gone in 60 seconds and the Junkman with extra subplot) and the bonkers car chase scene with the wedge shaped car from 1989 Gone in 60 seconds 2 in which he was tragically killed. Very dodgy acting but brilliant car chases/crashes.
Plenty of fodder for your next project Tim!
Munky, my night shifts were made for research!

Munky you are correct, I do what I can to replicate these movie cars as best as I can. The 2 easiest were Stasky and Hutch and Lucifer's car. Between the number of cars they use and the mods they do make it hard for anyone to keep up with! Military vehicles can require the same amount of research as well. P.s Munky it's a 71 mustang with 73 parts installed on it! So it's a movie car mutt!

So cool to learn they only used 1 car in the entire movie.

I've not searched yet while I'm in holidays and I've only my mobile. I don't know the kit you use Tim, so why I asked😉
Thanks for explaining munky. Some movie cars are definitely hard to replicate in scale.

I would not have the patience to replicate a movie vehicle like that, hence I tend to build my own 'plausible' creations. I take my hat off to you Tim for your dedication.

Thank you Bob for these great video's! This is the stuff you find while building a kit, but then you have to decide weather you're doing the stunt vehicle or the shows car. The days of thunder, Dirty Mary and Dukes car & Zombieland were the stunt cars I've done, Cobra, S&H, Lucifer and now Elaenor & Fall guy get the show car aspect due to the complexity, Fall guy stunt truck has the engine in the cab for better weight distribution for jumping, Hollywood does make it challenging, in the movie Christine the used Belvederes and Furys for the film, so you do the best you can. Like I just confirmed my suspicion on the mustangs hood, it is recessed in the middle, I wasn't sure if it was just the black paint but it's not. Nicel your own creations end up just as good as these movie cars.
