Elco 80 ft PT 117

View images (6): | | List

Used :Revell's PT 109 kit (old tool), WEM's pe fret, WEM's 50 cal guns + colour coats, various plastic sheet, rods and tubes.
Inspired by the Book about this 50 year old kit by T. Garth Connely and a Model built by George Woijicki .
It was the first time working with p. e. parts for me.
Took me quite a while to bring to completion.
Unfortunately, for some unknown reason the enamel colour caused some overspray, which led to a somewhat 'frosted 'looking surface, if the camera comes too close. I´m not used to this kind of paint any more.

This album is attached to project U.S. Navy Torpedo Boat PT 117.

Choppa Nutta Like it but some more pictures of the whole boat would be nice, some from above and the front perhaps :)

Robbie So what did you do to get the deck smooth (remove the planking detail) ? I have the 109 kit and it looks like a daunting task to remove the planking detail.

Hanno Kleinecke Oh, certainly, the scalemates keep me going :D

Hanno Kleinecke Hi Robbie, I struggled withe the decision for a while but then I sanded the deck completely. It is quite an amount of work, but far less annoying than I expected.
