25 September 2014, 23:22
Gábor Bélik
You mean how I screwed up the shadows here and there? 🙂
I Hope the washes and filters will bring it together.

Gábor Bélik
Done the wash...
27 September 2014, 10:12
Hunter Cummins
Awesome looking, but how did you do the color modulation?
27 September 2014, 14:21
Gábor Bélik
Washed Back the wash...
@Hunter: I used AK's color modulation set which has 6 shades.
I usually use 3 coloroes, base, shadow, highlight. This time I used a fourth colour which was between the base and the hihghlight and sprayed over lightly at some areas to blend the three shades together.
I Hope this answer was satisfactory. If not than please specify and I try my Best to explain. 🙂
27 September 2014, 14:46
Hunter Cummins
It has helped, does the ak interactive set have a how to guide in it??
27 September 2014, 14:50
Gábor Bélik
Yes it has a step by step guide on the Back but I do it a bit differtly.
The guide says you should build it up color by color but I paint the whole Model with the base color and than add the shadows and highlights.
27 September 2014, 14:57
Christian Meyerhoff
BTW... perfect paint job so far!

Bart Goesaert
is looking more beautifull with the minute. The application of the preshade was at least interesting, did you also apply aftershading, or did you do different shadings with oilpaint (filters, dots, washes ...)
2 October 2014, 06:44
Gábor Bélik
Thanks guys.
@Bart: I only used MIG's dark brown wash on this one beside the colour mod, because I tried not to weather it too much this time. I found the dotted wash kind of obsolete when it used with the streaking technique because you wash away which ever you did first whit the next step...in my opinion of course. 🙂
2 October 2014, 07:07
John Van Kooten
I totally agree, gábor 👍

I pretty much stopped using oils altogether for exactly that reason. With the current arsenal of washes, streaking and effects products there is not much use for the oil dot technique anymore. They (oils and enamel effects products) could complement eachother, of course, but I just don't see the point 😄 if both are used I think the effect is (too) greatly exaggerated and starts looking "messy", in a bad way😉

All of this also IMHO, obviously😉
2 October 2014, 07:35
Bart Goesaert
Thx for the answer... I'm a noob in regards to weathering, that's why the question.
2 October 2014, 07:41
Gábor Bélik
I still use olis but only when I want some faded streaks or a little touch up in the CM. The rest can be done with the colour mod And washes. 🙂
2 October 2014, 07:43
John Van Kooten
I do all of those steps with enamel effects products & pigments as well. Paintwork touch-ups I do with acrylic paints and some retarder (if required), to allow longer manipulation time. I have no more need for any oils 🙂
2 October 2014, 09:18
Gábor Bélik
I Just bought loads of it so I have to use them. 🙂
2 October 2014, 11:33
Gábor Bélik
@Bart. Every one was a noob at some point.😉 Just keep experimenting and every model you build will be better and better.
2 October 2014, 11:36
John Van Kooten
Hahaha! Yeah, then you have no choice but to use them😉 😄

But seriously, to avoid misunderstandings, I'm definitely not saying oils are of no use to anyone. It's just that I personally have no use for them anylonger 🙂 if someone wants or needs to use them that's absolutely great 🙂

@Bart: what Gábor said 👍 and asking questions to enhance your abilities & techniques is always a good thing. Lots of friendly people here that are more than willing to help 👍
2 October 2014, 12:30
Ulf Petersen
Hi Gábor, your Valentine looks marvelous and the finish is great but I have a small comment anyway: aren't you afraid that the boxes and the Bren-gun will fall from the rear deck right at the first move? . . .
2 October 2014, 13:00
Gábor Bélik
@Ulf: Not at all!🙂 It will be tied down with 'rope'and I put my good friend blu-tac under the boxes 😄 and I think a drop if glue under the gun. This is not the finished model yet. 🙂

Christian Meyerhoff
Hi Gabor!
Very nice work so far! What about some tracks for this one ?😉
This will be a beauty for sure. If this one was mine I would have toned down the color of the muffler. Too shiny in my opinion.
2 October 2014, 18:45
Gábor Bélik
Thanks Cris.
The tracks will be the Last thing. The exhaust is not done yet but you have a clear example what kind of result you will get when you using Humbrol washes. 🙂 Those are the worst washes I ever used (I don't like Humbrol generaly).
2 October 2014, 19:09
Christian Meyerhoff
Well Gabor, that`s an interesting point of view. Never used Humbrol washes, never knew that they are existing, but: 95% of all the models that i have build sor far were painted with humbrol enamels. I love them!
Used this paint, pigments and some home made wash on this one.

Panzer IV Ausf. E | Album by worldinscale (1:35)

Can`t say that Humbrol is bad. But this is only my point of view.
2 October 2014, 19:23
Gábor Bélik
@Cris: I know that lot of modelers like Humbrol paints. When I first started modeling 20 years ago I remember having humbrol paints and revell ones. The revell ones was much more resistent to time for me. Revell didn't thickend that fast. I know that Probably it happend because of the lack of knowledge of paints and how to keep them but this experience made me prefer revell istead of humbrol.
I gave it a chance with washes but that thing is between a filter and a wash. They are too thick and the colour is too strong.
Of course in my opinion 🙂
And I was folliwing the progress of that panzer really nice job. 🙂
3 October 2014, 03:30
Gábor Bélik
Pretty much done...
4 October 2014, 12:05

There is no fixed rule as to what sort of medium one should use to get what you are after. Thankfully, the industry we all support has made available to all of us over the last twenty years or so, a fantastic array of materials we can use to help us create our "vision" of our chosen subject and, just because it does not 'look right' to some of us, it is the modeller himself and what his 'eye' has seen is all that matters. For 'washes' I use water soluable pastel powders, but I use methelated spirits as the 'carrier' as it dries without creating a lumpy effect. but that's my way and I achieve fantastic results, but some may say "WHAT ?". So, from what I have seen of Gabours build, I am learning heaps. Well done mate, top job. 🙂

What happened to the rear view mirrors ? they were there at one stage I am sure. Other than that, What a dirty, foul, messy little gem you have there, I love it mate, Well done !!! 🙂
19 November 2014, 04:46
Gábor Bélik
