For wood texture i use, as a base color some acrylic (in this case, mixture of Gunze sail and Gunze white), next layers are oil colors, dark brown, ocher and for this particular airplane a little red).Than i brushing with diferent types of brushes till satisfaing result . Bad point with this method, long period for oil paints to dry ,good point, you can always clear the oil paints and start over again.
And final layer is a mixture of transparent red and yellow, Gunze acrylic again.

Its a very effective technique. Good shot in Pic.12. Looks like plywood. Must take a bit of practice and skill.
