Hi Jordan!
A heavy wash but very pleasing to my eyes!!! How do you like the kit and the eduard stuff?

Ships are just so astounding in every way, and especially the way they are detailed as finely as this, 👍 👍 👍
Well done Jordan. 🙂

So, why has the cat got a look like "I just ate a ship" ? LOL

Hah! Yes, that is my Satan's little helper. Every time I make a model kit she sits in the box.

@Holder Kranich I really liked the eduard set, it fit perfect and was a pleasure to build.

Thanks for all the kind comments as well guys.

Sharp and clean work Jordan! Might I have one question. Do you use black for the wash? The upper works are a bit to dark, try to use medium and dark grey for a wash and melt it when dry with the basic color.
Cheers, Christian

Very Nice Jordan! I like the detail, but have to agree in that the wash is a bit dark on the upper works. One more project that reminds me of getting back to work on my Prinz Eugen... I really like that we are seeing more ships here on Scalemates! Cheers, Ingmar

Yep Ingmar I agree, good to see more ships here🙂 Would be fine to see some progress on Prinz Eugen!

Yes, It is good to see more ships here, as I am getting really tempted to get the model of a ship I served on, being the American LSM by Revell.

Thank you guys, I agree the wash is a little dark, I used panzer schwartzgrau for the wash on the upper hull surfaces.

@Kerry Cox - yeah, I just recently got into modelling ships, and plan to do more in the future, I really like making them, it's a really fun new experience compared to armor and aircraft.

Jordan, I can agree with that totally, as I am becoming a little 'jaded' and I am looking for something different.
You will get a heap of support and help here, as I have seen some amazing builds by some of the crew here, Ha ha, just too many to name. 🙂 🙂 👍

Hey Jordan, what is the next ship on the bench?

I already got myself a Dragon Scharnhorst as well as a Dragon USS Buchanan gleaves-class destroyer waiting to be built. I'm not sure which one I'm going to tackle first, but I'm leaning towards the Buchanan since its a smaller, less time consuming kit.

For the Scharnhorst I have a Flyhawk detail set, I was going to use a laser cut wood deck, but I think I can make my own wood color with paints since Dragon's kit already has the deck scribed into the plastic. I also managed to get a cyber hobby photo etch upgrade for the railings since I was unsure if the Flyhawk set included them.

Wow. The Dragon Scharnhorst seems to be an excellent kit but it's quite expensive and has soooo many parts. All these details will be a lot of fun as long as you don't get exhausted along the way.

Well Jordan, Scharnhorst and Buchanan are a good choice. Scharnhorst is a big project with all the PE etc. I currently work on HMS Belfast with Flyhawk PE and a lot of extra parts. This is my first ship larger than destroyer size and it is really time consuming project. I much like the Dragon Buchanan I start one for a couple of years but put it beside because of my Royal Navy affinity. I can highly recommend the exact fit and intelligent layout to make easy to assemble sub divisions.

Would be nice to see more of your ship work in the near future.

Cheers, Christian

Way cool, Jordan!8)👍
The weathering looks a bit overdone to me but I think this is a question of personal taste.
B.t.w. I love your cat! It has such a nice fur pattern and looks so cuddly!🙂
I have read that cats love cardboard boxes because they feel warm and are narrow.

nice build, I agree with the above remark about the weathering being a tad heavy, but that's only taste...

The cat in the box isn't new to me... once he sat there while I put my model away in the box after painting, with a towel over the model to cover it from dust... the cat broke of the small parts and ruined the paintjob, but my first thought was: how cute, till I realised my model was underneath the cat...
