What do you think of the kit? I have a couple old Esci Sabres to build someday....

Hi Gordon - Kit seems ok to date although some minor fit issues. The filler on the starboard wing tip was down to me and over zealous use of thin CA glue - the end exploded! One big flaw is that the suck tube is not continuous but has voids created for the wheel bay and cockpit. I filled these as best I could but quite labourious. Also from other modellers it seems Academy decals are not to be trusted in use and therefore I will be using as much as I can from the alternative set from my Hasegawa kit and an AeroMaster Sheet.

Nice Sabre, I see you have placed correctly the yellow band on the fuselage. In mine this band is not well positioned (need to be near the root wing).....Cheers.

Thanks Pierre - I seem to remember it wasn't easy getting that yellow band tucked into the wing root but with loads of Microsol and lots of fiddling got in there.

Great work, was looking around because I am planning on building this one too. I will have to watch out for the decals it looks like. I like the effect one the sides in the front there, looks good. I was wondering though, I bought one of these and the instruction sheet is missing, was wondering if I could get a copy from someone that has it.

Well done. I had horrible issues with the fit of the intake on the one I did. Glad it came with a FOD cover. I would have had to get or make one. I have another in the stash and dont look forward to that part. I had no issues with the decals in mine. But then I believe they were cartograf. Excellent job sir!

Thank you for your kind comments and apologise for not replying earlier - I have been on a 'plastic model' holiday and been engrossed on a wooden HMS Bounty ship at 1/50 for a change - it certanlty helps your scratch building skills when you do one of these!
