Thank you all mates! This was my first time I built a complete airplane in metal finish, and I´m very happy, that you like the painting. 🙂

@Chris Nally: I didn´t mix the colours. I used pure Allclad Aluminium as basic, followed by some fine shadings with the brighter White Alu and the darker Duraluminium and Steel and Jet Exhaust. All without any thinner.

The final effects based on Tamiya an Gunze Smoke, thinned with Tamyia Laquer Thinner in 1:5. Thank you to Erik Alles! He explained me this way of painting. 🙂

I really like the idea of the "smoke tint overspray" I thought about doing this a while ago and i can see it appearing on some of my natural metal finishes in the future! 🙂

I would like to ask, what kind of work goes into getting this nice metal finish? 🙂

I can only agree. Very nice NMF on this beautiful plane.

I agree with others, very nice NMF. The weathering is very subtle. I'm finding it hard to weather NMF, because it's easy to go overboard and ruin it but you struck the perfect balance I think.

Thank you all, mates! I'm so glad you like the bird! 🙂

@Treehugger: I finished the final paint job with decals in 2 or 3 weeks, but the Allclas black gloss primer and the clear Cote gloss primer still took about 3 extra weeks each to dry. I prefer to wait a little longer to avoid later drying cracks.

Album info

The Eduard Mirage IIIC in the latest Weekend Edition.

Painted with Allclad II, completed with Eduard FABRIC seat belts, Eduard PE set for the seat and brass pitot tube from Master Detail.

Painting steps:

- Allclad Black glossy Primer
- metal coat and shadings: Allclad Aluminium, White Alu, Duraluminium, Steel, Jet Exhaust and others.
- Allclad "Klear Kote glossy"
- Decals
- Washing (Vallejo)
- Shadings with Tamiya and Gunze Smoke
- Finish Allclad "Klear Kote Light Sheen".

Surely not the perfect work. A little dust in the painting, engraving lost by sanding etc...

But I hope you like it. 🙂
