Ready for the instalation of the engine block in the frame, and then all the accessories.

Album image #18
The coils and extractors are now installed and I will be removing the red paint from the 'Ferrari' casting on te valve covers.

Album image #19
The hoses running from the side of the radiator for the internal heater are installed as part of the 'add on's. Completed with the foil clamps on the hose ends.

Now. Where DID I put those keys. ? hehehe 🙂

Album image #22
All nice and clean. As ALL Ferrari engine compartments should be. 🙂

Album image #33
One done and one more to do. So tedious and material consuming, having repeated the application on one cover at least 6 times, before I worked out how to get thenBMF to 'work'.

Album image #34
You like. ? 🙂

Album image #35
I am really happy with the final result. Having made at least a dozen attempts to get all the fil to go down without any blemishes.

Album image #36
The clean up is only of the lint from my cotton tips. And that will not impact the clarity of the clear parts.

Album image #37
There are a coulpe of small ridges I can live with, But it has taken many many attempts to get this to the point I am content.

Album image #38
The second attempt worked, free of all lint and dust with the gloss finish that will make this kit look as it does on the box art. :-0

This is only one coat, but it went on so quickly and glistened so much, I refrained from giving the second for fear the the over spray would dull all the other surfaces next to it.

These images do not portray just how much this paint job 'sparkles'. I am so pleased. One, NO dust to be seen any where.

Album image #47
All that remains to be done now is the bare metal foil around the wind screen frame, the same for the door windows and the rear window. Then the decals will go on. 🙂

Album image #63
OMG. ! What a product. ! I HAD a small finger mark on the front right wheel well, but with some effort and a little patience, boom, it is GONE. I was dubious about using this on fresh paint, but once I a what it was doing, I just HAD to go on, and I am s

Album image #64
The instrument cluster came out much better than I thought. Maybe removing the carrier film from around each decal helped, Then the chrome surrounds are the product of AK Interactive wax paste/paint dry brushed after the decals set. clear fix is the glass

Album image #65
The red and orange warning lights in the cluster are AK interactive silver covered with clear red and orange.

Album image #66
Ignore the shift gate. It has been corrected.

Album image #67
A big correction has been made, pointed out to me by my concerned and eagle eyed mates that the transmission 'gate' was incorrectly installed, so, at the speed of light, it has been rectified. Thanks lads. hehehehe

Trying to anchor the strap in the recess with Super glue. Strap didn't want to be there, went for a wander, scewed up the paint job. Try again. heheheheh

Album image #82
Anchor point for the passengers side seat belts.

Album image #83
They 'look' like cloth, but alloy and it just will not bend 'naturally', but it looks OK.

Album image #84
The rear 'shelf' is yet to have a final coat of semi-gloss black. X18 after all the dirt and alterations done to accomodate the sealt belt anchor points. 🙁

I also thought it was your model!!! You got it is used to hear quality😉 now, you have to deliver and not disappoint your fans!!! I will not miss it, for sure.

Veeery cool project. I'll definitely grab a frontrow seat if available.
Beautiful car and I'm curious if Fujimi is always as much 'fun' as my e30 kit is 🙂

Kerry COX
Thank you Lode and James. I will try to do a believable job on this build. 😉
I look at it this way.
Why would the model manufacturers go to all that trouble of replicating the detail they do if the modeller is going to ignore it. ?
Just about every build I have done in my hobby persuites, I have tried to improve what is all ready there, just a bit at least. 🙂
And I build with the observer in mind too, thinking, 'what would they do if they had the same kit to build.' ? And what would they like to see. ?
So I do as much as I can without overkill.
So far, I seem to have struck a good balance that I am happy to keep in my display cases for friends and mates to enjoy. 👍
Again. I thank all of my mates for the great support and encouragement I receive. I hope what I do inspires others to try something challenging too, just as I have been inspired by all the masterpieces that have been posted right here on SM, by the best modellers in the world. 👍 👍

Oh dear. Kerry when you were explaining what you have done to the engine bay area last night on the phone I pictured something a bit less detailed. I understood you were satisfied with the modifications you had added but I think you were a bit guilty of understating the overall balance. I might just give up realities and go to the Sci Fi genre, don't think you dabble in that yet!
Beautiful work thus far Old Mate!

I want one!
I'm sure Kerry would modify a Klingon Bird of Prey so beautifully, the Klingons themselves would be jealous.

I love working with the fibre optic strands that they made the 'Fantasy' lights with. Melting the tip of each strand to create a sort of minature LED. ! Great for avoiding the bulky LED's that takes up way too much space, and all powered by a 'grain of wheat' light globe. Yes, I would love to do a Sci Fi model with that stuff. Good fun. 🙂

Engine looks much better than the italeri one, and with the extra detail..... Magnificent!
14 July 2018, 14:37
Kerry COX
Timothy, thanks for your suggestion mate. I'll take a gander and see what you have done. 👍
Lode. You will be pleasantly surprised when you look at what detail is there, and your building of it will, I expect, be superb no doubt. ;-p
Roberto, thanks mate. 🙂 👍 I am glad you looked in. 👍
Spanjaard, I have looked and looked for an Italeri kit, but sadly, very hard to get and what is out there is just a wee bit exey. 🙁
My next step is the bare metal foil on the windows and light surrounds. :-O !
14 July 2018, 14:59
Michael Hickey
That engine looks sweet, and the body polished up quite nicely as well.👍
15 July 2018, 06:10
Kerry COX
Thank you Michael. I am pleased with the results so far, But I am dreading the dust devils when the body gets my attention. 👍
15 July 2018, 07:02
Spanjaard
Good luck with that. In builds like this, you need plenty of sacrifices to the dust goods....carpet monster should not be forgotten, but dust is certainly your worst enemy
15 July 2018, 14:50
Thomas Bischoff
amazing work! Hope the dust devils spare you!
15 July 2018, 14:53
Kerry COX
The cool of the evenings should be ok. As long as I keep my movements to a minimum. I have been starving my carpet monster for a while now. Using an old bed sheet spread out under my chair and desk. Ain't lost nuthin' since. 🙂 Currently, I am adding the chrome surrounds to the headlight covers. Very tedious, but looking good. 👍
15 July 2018, 14:57

Bare metal foil?

15 July 2018, 22:41

Well. It looks like you will just have to have to buy one of your own. Imagine, a two Ferrari garage. hahahahaha 🙂 👍
15 July 2018, 23:32

Hard to resist the temptation Lode. Yes buying a new one may be a solution. But seeing the box twice at home may imply.... Other perils!!! 😄

That is appreciated James. 🙂
It is a beautiful version of it and the detail is so easy to improve some what. 👍
Get it out mate, as that would please me no end James. 🙂
Has it got a great deal of detailing you can do. ?
Can you give me a link so I can check it out mate. ?
I have almost reached the painting of the body work, with all the small peripherals all done and attached.
The decals on the dash I had removed all the carrier film and they just sat down so well. 🙂

Thank you Lode. 👍
16 July 2018, 20:21

Goood morning Kerry!
Rise and shine! Time for some more awesome detailing. The headlights look fantastic. There is a bit of a brain surgeon in those hands 🙂
16 July 2018, 20:24
Kerry COX
Rene. LOL. Thanks my friend. And, good morning to you too, as the frost starts to melt with the rays of sunlight on a really cold (for us) winter's day. 🙂
If your liking the bare metal foil surrounds on the headlight covers. It was really, a big job, as I tried with each effort (many times) to eliminate any folds/wrinkles that appeared because of the curve of the item being covered, and BMF will not stretch, but rather, it's a case of gentle persuasion to get it to that stage of where it will stick. :-/
And all without marking the lense with the scalpel blade, disfiguring it visually as I cut away the excess to leave just the surround.
Today is the day I grip my tongue between my teeth and PAINT. :-O
Even with a spray booth, I always seem to get the message out to all air born dust particles, "Kerry is painting today.....drop in and say g'day. Grrrrrr 🙁
But that is I guess, the price we pay in being a scale modeller. ho hum. !
I do hope I get a break in the dust department. hehehehe🙂
Well, of to do all the prepping I can before I commit. 🙂
wish me luck. 🙂
Cheers mate. 👍

16 July 2018, 20:38
Peter Hardy
Look on the bright side Kez, you don't live in a coal mining town!
16 July 2018, 21:59
Kerry COX
Peter. Believe me, I do count my blessings. But it is just as hard plucking infinitesimal dust and lint partials out of the paint as soon as you have laid down the coat you have worked so hard at getting is as good an environment you can, meaning that you have resisted rubbing or touching the surface in fear that you will charge the plastic with an electrical field that will pull bits out of nowhere to land on just what you have done. Most disheartening I assure you. :-/
Like just now, I sprayed the hood, and bugger me, if there wasn't an invasion of the DP's and not just one or two, but at least six of them, but to then having to give a quick burst to fill in the divot you just created, having fast settling and drying paint, (acetone mix for the thinner agent). But I persist. 🙂

I am sharing your frustration! As you say though, you don't enter a competition to come second!
17 July 2018, 03:59
Kerry COX
Thanks Peter. I was really excited to see it all sparkling like it did, but then, I started to see that my impatience and lack of planning was the reason I am back to square one. So I say to myself now. "Patience grasshopper", and understand what that means. hahahahaha 🙂
17 July 2018, 04:19
Peter Hardy
Nearly said that myself but not my place!
17 July 2018, 04:21

You, of all people, have every right to say just exactly what's on your mind. I am all grown up......really. Besides, I need a verbal kick in the arse occasionally Peter, and your judgement and opinion I trust. 👍 🙂

Ok, have patience Grasshopper!

Patience doesn't come easily for the young and impetuous Lode. We must be patient with him. I am pretty sure the Sharnhorst is in his stash.
17 July 2018, 09:47
Rene Scheiblich
You guys... Someone here said something about not regretting joining this site. Same here!

Damn this dust! You move around too much while spraying😉
The bmf also sounds like loads of fun. But the sweat and curses will certainly not be in vain😎
17 July 2018, 11:18
Kerry COX
My peers, how I value your words and the intent with which they are said. 👍
I have given out much advice and encouragement over the years, but never have i needed that encouragement and support back, as I need it now. 🙂
I didn't follow my own advice too well on this spray job, but after a good nights sleep and the imagined process to 'get it right' , I feel that I will have all bases covered, including, keeping my movement while spraying, down to the absolute minimum.
Cheers lads.
KC
17 July 2018, 20:49
Rene Scheiblich
Fingers crossed over here😉
Which reminds me... My BMW still needs its glosscoat. I'm procrastinating it for the exact some troubles you have: dust. On tanks you can get away with a little fuss somewhere... But on a car? Normally not 🙂
17 July 2018, 20:58
Kerry COX
That is why I love and hate this hobby so much Rene. 🙂
The solutions we develop for the many situations we create. 🙂
So infuriating and frustrating at times, but the joy and elation when we, 'get it right' is so worth it yes. ? hahahaha
Thanks for your timely remarks and support mate, they mean a great deal. 👍
Cheers.
Kezza. 🙂

you can not make it?... you WILL MAKE it... if you want perfection, there is no other way than clean it and do it again... and again... and again. but it will be such a beautiful car, that you will inspire others to make it.... i have resisted the temptation to order one myself.... but not sure how long! 😄 😄
17 July 2018, 21:20
Tim Heimer
Kerry and Spanjaard I know the pain of having to redo a project! P.s I updated pics on the Enterprise as requested. Keep at it Kerry, I had one that I had to repaint 5X!! Before getting it good!
17 July 2018, 21:45
Michael Hickey
Hey Kerry, I like your head light trim, they really look the part. As for repainting the body just say your getting your moneys worth out of the kit.😢
17 July 2018, 22:21
Kerry COX
Michael. 🙂 I am pleased you like the effort with the BMF mate. 👍 But it did take a few times to get it as close as possible to what I am seeing in photos of the beast. 🙂
And as for my money's worth. ? .....Hell yes. hahahaha 🙂
Spanjaard, I was never content to let a bad paint job go. I have stripped back more paint jobs than I have had breakfasts mate. And this one is no different, having stripped it back and just this morning.................perfection. Just fantastic how it all went to planned. As last night, I was mentally going through the way I would apply the paint, the angles, the mix, and watching out for any over spray. 🙂 Images shortly. hehe 👍
Timothy. Cheers to you too mate. 🙂 I guess that what keeps us at the workbench, that being the best effort and working on the best result possible, trying to avoid all the previous pit falls, but, resolved to get back to the beginning if a stuff up happens. hehehe 🙂
Thank you all for all your comments and support. Most welcome indeed. 👍
Now for some images of my latest paint job. 👍
17 July 2018, 23:44

The images of the finally finished body are up and all is ready for final assy. 👍

Michael. The big bright circle of light reflecting on the roof is my desk lamp 🙂 🙂 🙂
Just trying to show how beautifully smooth and glossy it turned out. hehehehe 🙂
I am, REALLY finished now and the final steps get taken tomorrow with the addition of the BMF around the window openings, and that includes the windshield and rear window too.:-O
I can hardly wait. hahahahaha 🙂
18 July 2018, 03:44
Spanjaard
it looks fantastic 🙂
18 July 2018, 05:16

LOL. I must agree with you on this one Spanjaard, it does look way better than the last effort. Thanks mate. 🙂 👍
18 July 2018, 05:34
Michael Hickey
Ah that's what I thought it was, she does look smooth.
18 July 2018, 05:45
Peter Hardy
Kerry, I am slightly confused by the transmission gates. They look sideways?
18 July 2018, 06:01
Tim van Dooremalen
I have to agree with Peter, it seems you put it on wrong :-/
18 July 2018, 06:04
Kerry COX
I will double check. !!!
18 July 2018, 06:07
Kerry COX
Now. Where would I be if it wasn't for my eagle eyed mates. Bringing to my attention I know nothing about Ferrari gear shits and how they work. So, off I went and corrected my blunder. All is as it should be now lads. Thanks again. hahahaha 🙂
18 July 2018, 06:32
Peter Hardy
I will accept payment in a beer. Or two.
18 July 2018, 06:47
Kerry COX
Sold. To the man who has too many motorcycle kits for his own good. LOL hahahaha 🙂
18 July 2018, 07:01
Peter Hardy
Please enlighten me as to what number is too many?
18 July 2018, 07:19
Peter Hardy
Hey now it's upside down!
18 July 2018, 07:21
Rene Scheiblich
Gear shits?😉
Interior is coming along nicely so far. Although the wooden wheel still looks very like plastic 🙂

And you aced the paintjob, including your fingerprint to mark it as yours🙂
I would be too scared to dent it while applying the BMF and go for Gunze super silver or the like... But that's the difference between novice and master🙂
18 July 2018, 07:25
Kerry COX
Now, the steering wheel is just fine as it is, unless your a 1/24 scale driver sitting behind it, but then again, it is a Ferrari after all. 🙂 But BMF is now one of my favorite detailing skills, helping me win gold with the German G4 Staff car with the window trims and such, and this scares me less that painting the bloody thing. 🙂
18 July 2018, 07:51
Michael Hickey
The trim around all the glass areas looks really smart, you sure nailed that job.👍
18 July 2018, 13:32
Kerry COX
Thank again Michael. And would you believe the area around the drivers and passengers windows gave me more grief than the other openings. ? 🙁
True. But the front windshield, curve and all, went on in one attempt. ! Go figure. 🙂
And the new 'soft back sanding sponge' of 4000 'grit' value has been a real God send. Removing all the soft scratches I got while handling the body as I applied the BMF. Just brilliant stuff. 🙂 👍
So today, I am hopefully getting all the bright work in place, and then some images to post.
Thanks for your feed back Mike. It's been really good. 🙂
Cheers. 👍

Pic #73
Is the finish that shiny? Is that the reflection of a fly on your lamp I see on the rear fender? 😮
Might be another Gold-award by the looks of it 😄

I have to bite it. Come weekend I'll break out the clear gloss and try to match your Ferrari😛
No bmf though 🙂
18 July 2018, 19:55
Kerry COX
Rene. Yes mate, it is that shiny. 🙂
I make sure I have no insects zapping around in my work shop. The fly you refer to I cant see. :-/
But right now, all the chrome trim is being added, no glue per say, but I like using clear craft paper glue. 👍 Humbrol had a similar product called 'clear fix', mostly for positioning canopies and any clear plastics bits and it wont affect the detail of those parts, and, it dries rock hard. Also great for creating the glass fronts for the instruments on all cockpit instruments or lenses over formation and navigation lights on the wing tips.
18 July 2018, 21:40
Peter Hardy
This is like being back in school but learning interesting stuff! My hat is off Yoda!
18 July 2018, 22:06
Kerry COX
Good morning gents. 🙂
Thank you both for your greetings and comments. 👍
I have really enjoyed the whole build, including the strip down of the first paint job, as it's let me experiment with new ways of getting better results.
The chrome work will be what caps it all off, as I am using no aggressive or super glue, just the clear paper glue, that some call 'clear fix', to anchor these parts, as I don't want to destroy any part of the paint work, as has happened before .
I should have it done by late tonight, not wanting to rush anything, then, it's off to build the Kawasaki 900Ninja. 🙂

Peter Hardy
We'll wait, no hurry. Name it Team Green Kez, I did and Marty loves the name!
18 July 2018, 22:31
Kerry COX
Sounds like a blast mate. Yes. A good name. hehehehe 🙂
18 July 2018, 22:35
Tim Heimer
I wonder if the next car he builds will be......A Toy yoda! LOL
19 July 2018, 14:23
Kerry COX
Happy I am, that I find so much joy. hehehe 👍 🙂
19 July 2018, 20:21
Peter Hardy
Tim, you are from a different planet, that's brilliant!
Did you finish it last night Kez?
19 July 2018, 20:53
Peter Hardy
Yoda, sent you a couple of pix in an email last night.
19 July 2018, 21:12
Kerry COX
Final touches on the GTO will be done today, having just finished painting the side mirror red and the internal of the bonnet black. The straps and clear air scoups on the bonnet will take some time, as I plan to insert the macro screws into the clear air scoups and have floppy straps rather than the rigid plastic ones. But I will cross that bridge when I have time to work out just how I will do it.
Cheers. 👍
19 July 2018, 23:08
Peter Hardy
Evidence of said progress????
20 July 2018, 01:22
Kerry COX
Taking Images I can create an album with.
Is that what you need me to do sir. ? 👍 🙂
20 July 2018, 02:06
Peter Hardy
No. Want to see the Ferrari!
20 July 2018, 04:14
Kerry COX
Peter. Until I get my stuff from BNA, I am in a holding pattern as the finals will be the seat belts and.....possibly, the light surrounds. But they could even be used as a template for the foil from my coffee can for a tougher and better looking job than the BMF. :-/
20 July 2018, 07:05
Kerry COX
Just some images of 'workin' on it' to see what I can create. 👍
20 July 2018, 09:33
Peter Hardy
Yes Dad, I'll wait.....
20 July 2018, 09:44
Rene Scheiblich
I was curious about this bare metal foil stuff.
So I tried something I thought was similar... But nope.
Screening tape for data cables looks definitely shiny enough for scale chrome trim... But its only good for flat surfaces or very gentle bends. It won't conform to relatively sharp angles like on an E30 🙁
Can you use regular aluminum foil with some PVA beneath?
20 July 2018, 12:50
Martin Oostrom
That's too thick. Bmf is thinner. And self adhesive
20 July 2018, 13:07
Kerry COX
I have used some kitchen foil, but the thinnest I could find, spraying one surface with arosol adhesive, but because the adhesive was atomized, it hit the surface as little dots of adhesive, ruining the overall effect. 🙁
20 July 2018, 13:15
Rene Scheiblich
Even thinner? 😮 i thought aluminum foil is thin already.^^
Gunze sm it is then. Won't get a pack of bmf for one kit 😄
20 July 2018, 13:16
Tim Heimer
They do sell real nice chrome markers. I have used them with great success. let me know if you need the brand name
20 July 2018, 19:38
Spanjaard
really chrome color bright and possible to touch with the fingers later? i want to know the brand 🙂
20 July 2018, 20:27
Peter Hardy
I have used kitchen foil with thin ca glue to simulate a hose clamp or two. That does work for a straight wrap around but I wouldn't even attempt it for something like this. Tim's suggestion would be the go if you want a good result and keep your hair. Kerry flicked me a small piece of BMF to try before I bought any. I did and I will!
20 July 2018, 21:05
Kerry COX
Is this what your thinking of about the chrome marker pens. Or, at least the name. ? google.com/url?sa=t&..e5HofDidhlJDH7Dn7TN7
20 July 2018, 22:12
Kerry COX
BTW. 🙂 Good morning world. hehehehe 👍
20 July 2018, 22:12
Peter Hardy
Morning Kez!
20 July 2018, 22:56
Spanjaard
molotow 1mm tends to dry pretty quick... inside of the pen 🙁
20 July 2018, 23:15
Kerry COX
Spanjaard, I was not aware of that. 🙁
I saw a video and it looked quite the product for us as modellers.
And Mr Peter. Good morning to you too sir. Have you seen my 'proof of evidence' on the 900 yet. ?
21 July 2018, 00:31
Peter Hardy
Yes I have. I am not finished throwing things around the hobby room yet. When I calm down I shall comment. Trying to set up a new phone and email address with three devices and it is not progressing well.
21 July 2018, 01:27
Kerry COX
I can relate to all you just described mate. Take your time. 🙂
21 July 2018, 01:32
Tim Heimer
Yes Kerry! That's the one! And yes Spanjaard the 1mm does dry out, but it helps to store it point down.
21 July 2018, 01:53
Kerry COX
Tim. Good to know mate. I hope I can get some here. 🙂
21 July 2018, 02:22
Cesar Muniz
Very nice! count me in!
21 July 2018, 02:32
Björn Svedberg
I love your attention to detail, Kerry! 👍 It's inspiring.
21 July 2018, 06:59
Kerry COX
Cesar and Björn, thank you both very much guys. 👍
It's been a great deal of fun mixed with a touch of frustration. 🙁
But hey. We wouldn't do it other wise. hehehehe :-0
21 July 2018, 07:48
Spanjaard
thanks Tim, i will try
22 July 2018, 10:33
Kerry COX
hehehehe. Glad to help relay the word. 🙂 👍
22 July 2018, 11:56
Kerry COX
James. 👍. 🙂
Your still a champion mate. 🙂
Thank you for the link. 🙂
Hope your better soon. Have you had a flu shot as yet. ?
22 July 2018, 22:40
Dave Flitton
See what happens when you don't get the shot? You get the flu!! Get well
25 July 2018, 20:19
Kerry COX
Which holes James. ? But I did create the slots that the seat belts pass through by heating up the tip of the scalpel blade, pushing it through, let it cool, then wriggle the blade up and down and from side to side and then trim away the 'melt' and clean the area and fit the belts. 🙂
The final step is tomorrow with the mounting of the bonnet on the pivot frame and see if I can get a strut to be involved while keeping the bonnet in place vertically, all without looking over engineered.
I still have to make the 'mirror' that will be for the driver side externally mounted rear view unit, using some 'plastistrut' rod, heating the tip and as it cools, I push that hot plastic onto a glass surface, making it spread and then, whittle it to size, with the smooth surface being silver. It should work. 👍

Peter Hardy
Seams on tyres Kez?
26 July 2018, 05:13
Kerry COX
The LAST of my concerns Peter. If they are going to get pedantic over something like that. KMA.
The tyres will NOT be showing or seen. 😉
26 July 2018, 06:20
Kerry COX
Try to highlight the raised lettering on the side walls. AVON and all with either white or gold.
26 July 2018, 08:24
Kerry COX
Correction on that idea. I have just looked and ALL the lettering is engraved on the tyres, so nothing will need to be done unless I built the 330 P4, as that has Good Year with raised lettering and decals for.
26 July 2018, 08:37
Peter Hardy
Ok, I'll pull my head in.
26 July 2018, 09:06
Kerry COX
Peter. There are no seams on the tyres I have been supplied with from Fujumi. as soon as you mentioned it, I went and had a look, and none to be seen. 🙂
26 July 2018, 09:25
Martin Oostrom
So you fooled us all with the tyres on the pictures!
26 July 2018, 09:55
Kerry COX
I am not trying to fool any one.
Just showing what the rubber looks like. Nothing that could even be considered a seam. 👍
26 July 2018, 10:32
Alexander Grivonev
Great work, Kerry! Paintjob looks superb👍
26 July 2018, 19:29
Kerry COX
Ah. ! James, I do apologize for not getting what you were talking about mate. 🙁 But to answer your question, I have these images of what I have done to get what I need happening in that department and the car finished. 👍
Alexander, Thank you for your kind word about the paint job, as it drove me mad there for a couple of goes to get it right, having only just now, repainted the bonnet for about the fourth time. ! But finally, it is done as I have wanted it.
26 July 2018, 21:03
Spanjaard
this car deserves a master treatment... and that is exactly what it is getting from you 🙂
26 July 2018, 21:38
Kerry COX
My goodness me. ! Thank you so much for both your glowing compliments gents. 🙂 🙂
I am really trying to eliminate any 'faults' any judge may want to go after on the comp table, and my advice to all those who go into a competition is exactly that.
Don't let the bastards find anything that will diminish your chances of a win.
Do everything you can that will blow their minds. "How did he do THAT. ? " ! >😉
And in my mind, nothing is impossible. 👍
I build a model how I think the others would criticize it if they were judging their own model.
So many times I have stood beside people and listened to what they say about a model and hear them say, "I reckon he could have done"........................And I love hearing, "Jeez, look at THAT. " ! !
I have had so many losses because I failed to follow the judges rule, 'Attention to detail wins every time.' 🙂 If you think you can do it, then it can be done. hehehehe 🙂
And. I LOVE winning. 🙂 🙂 🙂
26 July 2018, 22:17
Kerry COX
That is what makes you so bloody good mate. ! Never give yourself a break, EVER. It leads to complacency.
Oh, 'thatldo' is a death sentence. Not good.
That's why I just love your work Lode. You see it to the end. 👍 🙂
26 July 2018, 23:10
Kerry COX
Lode. Excellent my friend. 🙂
I have just sent you a PM on some product you may find useful. 👍
I love doing research on any build I am going to undertake, especially the Google 'images', where ALL kinds of things can be researched and links found. I love it.
I have just finished doing some bare metal foil on the tail light lenses, replicating as best I can, the chrome trim / surround. 🙂
27 July 2018, 08:15
Spanjaard
Tail lights looking fantastic 🙂
27 July 2018, 08:36
Norbert Steffens
Kerry, yess you're absolutly crazy with your details, but it looks fantastic. Your paint job is fantastic. Remembers me that I have stopped project of a GTO from Revell in my bin.
27 July 2018, 10:43
Kerry COX
Norbert. 🙂 Thank you my friend. 🙂 Are you going to resume the build of your 250 soon. ? As It's kind of lonely out here with just one on the newsfeed. 😉
27 July 2018, 11:24
Tim Heimer
Kerry as I watch you put the detail on this build it makes me wish I had time to get back to the project I started! So I guess I'll have to live through your build for now.
27 July 2018, 14:07
Kerry COX
This is the extent of the 'home improvements' department, as all I have left is the silverware, the bonnet and windshield wipers and it's off to Brisbane for the meet. 🙂 🙂
I really am hoping I get to see your 250 build Tim, as you have spoken of it a number of times. 👍
Oh. ! Whats that tiny Italian voice I hear. ? Could it be, ????? Or is it just my imagination. ? hahahahaha 👍
Cheers mate. 🙂 🙂 🙂
27 July 2018, 15:44
Kerry COX
Finished. 🙂 All decals next to end it all. I am delighted with the end result, and come to the conclusion that fluff is never ending. hehehehe 🙂
28 July 2018, 02:57
Kerry COX
Here it comes James. hehehehe 🙂 :-0 🙂
28 July 2018, 03:33
Björn Svedberg
Truly a fantastic looking car, Kerry! Great workmanship! Love the details! 👍 👍
28 July 2018, 04:55
Kerry COX
Björn. 🙂 Thank you my friend. I certainly have had a great time doing as much as I can. Now, it's up to the judges at this year's competition and what they think. 🙂 🙂 👍
28 July 2018, 05:16
Kerry COX
I bow my head in appreciation of your kind words and encouragement gents. 👍 🙂
Lode, I fully expect to see your HMS Lowe weighed down with many many awards mate.
James, I am hoping that what I present this year, as in all the other times, my work will inspire and excite, and maybe, a pat on my back for my efforts. hehehehe 🙂
Cheers again. 👍
28 July 2018, 21:11
Tim Heimer
Another great piece in your collection! Best of luck in the comp, You should be a shoe in! But I'd hate to have to chose between yours and Lodes!
29 July 2018, 02:41
Kerry COX
Timothy. I would be more than happy if it was Lode to take home the honors. Any time. 👍 🙂
Thanks for your best wishes mate. 🙂

Mr Hickey. 👍 Thank you good sir for your compliment, and coming from you I feel most humbled. 😉
29 July 2018, 14:13
Kerry COX
Share the wealth you think Lode. ? Yes, I can go along with that. hehehe
Thank you for your best wishes for me this year, and I can assure you, the competitors are some of the best around. 🙂
Heaps of photos I will be posting of the event. 👍
29 July 2018, 16:22
Spanjaard
I afraid the result is exactly as expected, pale in comparison of the details and craftsmanship.... Yes your 250 is a looooooot better than mine 😄
I am glad it inspired you to build this beauty, now I see how I want mine to be when I do another one!
Not in the stash.... yet!
29 July 2018, 16:57
Martin Oostrom
Perhaps Lode can inspire Kerry to do a ship?
Kerry's shown he can build masterpieces of tanks, cars, bikes, planes already. Not much left?
29 July 2018, 17:24
Kerry COX
Gentlemen, gentlemen. (embarrassed). 🙂 Spanjaard, I have a lot to be grateful to you for my friend. If I had seen that same model built by some other modeller, I would not have wanted to build one, as I am sure it would have been no where near what you produced, and I don't believe I would have been inspired at all, as you really did bring that Ferrari to life in my eyes, and I, in no way, did I want or think of competing with you, as I would have been happy with just saying I had one just like Spanjaard's. 👍
Martin, Every time I log on to SM, I am inspired by all of you, and Lode has got me wanting to get the salt spray in my face again, and knowing there are many masters of ships here, I will not be wanting for help or encouragement at all, and a clip around the back of my head if and when I stuff up. 👍 🙂
I may waffle on a bit when I say something to all of you, but it's from the heart, as I am amongs't the best and brightest band of brothers there is, and nothing makes me happier to say so.
Martin, there are many more things in modelling I want to complete, as in, subject matter, and Lord knows, there is such a diverse range of subject matter available today, and no doubt, I will be spoiled for choice. 🙂 And it has been many years since I attempted a ship, of ANY kind, but with what is out there now, and the brass bits, I am bound to have a ball.
👍 And thanks to each and every one of you for all you have said about the comp, and no matter the outcome, I am going to really enjoy the time out with my friends up there in Brisbane.
Look this up lads.

I am glad you had a look Lode. I guess it's the same all over, though I would really like to compete at Telford.
29 July 2018, 21:58
Peter Hardy
Could we include that on our European Tour Kez?
29 July 2018, 22:42
Kerry COX
This will be an adventure of a life time Peter and Lode. To actually see in the flesh what we are seeing here on a regular basis. FOR SURE. 🙂 There is one of the members of the club I started here who goes over every year, (ex pom) and takes all his 1/144 aircraft and cleans up every time. ! 👍
And maybe a Ferrari or two wouldn't go astray Peter. 👍 Show these Euro trash what a couple of Aussies are capable of. hahahaha 🙂
29 July 2018, 23:16
Peter Hardy
I hope you have a project going at the time. Love to see you working!
30 July 2018, 04:41
Kerry COX
Peter. I am never without a model on my bench mate. My drug my fix my feel good pills are all in a box marked. 'Model inside'. 🙂 hehehehe
30 July 2018, 06:03
Rene Scheiblich
Are you sure your feel-good stuff isn't in a little green-lid glass bottle labeled 'extra thin' Kerry?😉

Anyway, great Ferrari! Get some gasoline into it and try if it starts up 😄
Best of luck for the comp👍
30 July 2018, 07:32
Kerry COX
LOL. I do try to maintain a reasonable distance between that bottle and my nose Lode. hahahahaha🙂
As for the 'Euro Trash' crack. I was thinking of this friends remark about when he takes his stuff to Telford, and how all the britts seem to isolate their entry's from the competitors from the continent. :-O
No insult from me and I withdraw it if it seemed that way. Sorry lads. 🙁. And Lode, I have convict blood in my veins apparently. hahahaha
Cheers. 👍
30 July 2018, 08:35

This trash is looking forward to some descendants from the Bounty.
Might be a nice ship for you to build? scalemates.com/kits/..l-05404-h-m-s-bounty
30 July 2018, 09:06
Peter Hardy
I think Martin you may need some history lessons. The Bounty has no connection with us Antipodeans. Except of course that then Captain William Bligh later became Governor William Bligh of New South Wales and suffered a second mutiny when the New South Wales "Rum Corps" rebelled against him and found him hiding under his bed! Interestingly Mr Bligh was also with James Cook at the Sandwich Islands (now known as Hawaii) when the latter had the misfortune of being eaten by the locals. When Bligh took command of the second voyage to take breadfruit to the West Indies his First Mate was one Matthew Flinders! Three of the greatest navigators from Britain's "Golden Age of Sail" were connected by Bligh! Fascinating don't you think?

Martin? Martin? Wake up when I am talking to you!
30 July 2018, 10:58
Kerry COX
I have built the wood HMS Endeavor, sailed by Lt J COOK on his scientific voyage to the southern Pacific where he discovered New Zealand and the 'great southern land' that was 'known' to exist, but not claimed by any one until Lt COOK 'found it' in 1770 and claimed Australia for the then King of England.so much for history, and 1788 is the first settlement. The model is now with a good friend in Lismore. NSW.
30 July 2018, 12:15
Rene Scheiblich
Nice history lesson 😄
I'm not Lode though. Can't build as nicely too 🙁

Great southern land... Wasn't there a song from Icehouse in the 80s?
30 July 2018, 12:39
Kerry COX
Australia became the melting pot of the world after WWII. All the dispossessed people from every nation on earth wanted some where quiet and peaceful to live, and the world beat a path to our open door, and we welcomed and embraced all of them. That is why Australians are respected the world over. Tolerance.
30 July 2018, 13:43
Kerry COX
Rene, I do apologize for the confusion in the name department. :-/
And you are right about the Ice House song, all about Australia. 🙂
Have any of you guys been 'down under' yet. ? When you do, you will not want to leave. 🙂 🙂 🙂

30 July 2018, 13:49
Martin Oostrom
Sorry Peter, as I'm very tolerant myself, I was away to adopt a new member of our family. She's a feline with the name Tony. Not a very girlish name, but we like her already!
Thanks for the history lessons. I only knew of a mutiny aboard Bounty, never knew there was no connection with Aussieland.
Kerry, closest I came to the Southern Hemisphere was when I sailed my ship past Singapore on the way to Hong Kong, back in '97. But that's still 2 degrees North.
30 July 2018, 14:10
Rene Scheiblich
Nope never been to Australia in my relatively short life yet. But it's on my bucket list, right along with New Zealand.
And I can imagine I would want to stay... Getting the permission might be hard if I'm not totally misinformed there 😛

A nice dry red or some scotch sounds awesome Lode.
But in the current heat I only drink water by the gallon or maybe a Radler in between... 😄
30 July 2018, 15:05
Tim van Dooremalen
I've been down under a couple of times! Twice to Australia and 4 times to NZ. And trust me, I'd really like to go back 🙂
30 July 2018, 16:58
Kerry COX
Now Mr Tim knows what it is like here, and has the good sense to come back and possibly live. 🙂 🙂
And Rene, our wines are something special too. 👍 I personally like and prefer the 'Penfold's' vintage, a cab sav suits me. 🙂
Martin, you have still been to many places I would have liked to see, but I have seen a lot of South East Asia though. 🙂
Next year, God willing, I will be on Wangerooge with a few SM lads . 👍
30 July 2018, 19:02

Ah hah. ! A man with well rounded taste buds. 🙂 🙂 🙂
30 July 2018, 21:23

So Lode, just a suggestion, how about a trip to the Antipodes and enter a build in Kerry's comp?
30 July 2018, 22:51
Kerry COX
Good idea Peter. 👍
31 July 2018, 02:08
Rene Scheiblich
Antipodes... Interesting.
Never tried an australian wine, I'll try and find the mentioned vintage to sample it 😛

Wangerooge... Is this meeting a big one, with competition etc.? Might try and make some time to get there next year. QMHE is a bit too far 😄
Peter, are you coming as well?
31 July 2018, 07:30
Martin Oostrom
Wangerooge is Holger Kranich's idea (I think). No comp, just a gathering of builders scalemates.com/events/event.php?id=11096
31 July 2018, 07:35
Peter Hardy
Only if you attend Rene! Actually I have to attend to Australian modelling royalty and getting Yoda into the Gypsy Moth to fly us there will be a challlenge! Wild horses won't keep me away.

Not only the cake shop, Kezza! Don´t forget about the food there at all! Yummi!!!
31 July 2018, 09:08
Kerry COX
Thomas. My friend. 🙂 How the hell are you mate. ?
I have finally come up for some air, nothing on my bench of any great distraction, just getting prepared for the comp at the end of this month and a week on the beach in the winter sun after that. 🙂
31 July 2018, 10:28
Rene Scheiblich
Maybe queer... But the guys seem to have had a blast there last year😄
But wait... There's cake? Good cake?
Cake and a few mildly insane australians... Sounds like fun.

So all you have planned for the comp is done, dusted and only waiting to get awarded with a shiny golden medal?😉
What does winter sun mean in the case of a goldcoast-dwelling australian? 30° and bikinis everywhere?
31 July 2018, 11:11
Michael Hickey
There are always bikinis if you can all them that😢, one of the reasons I love taking my youngest daughter surfing. While she's surfing out the back, I like to check out all the white pointers on the beach, and no these ones are not sharks.🙂🙂🙂
31 July 2018, 11:53
Kerry COX
Rene. I live a very short distance, by tram, from the heart of one of THE most over commercialized parts of the developed world, known locally, and to the world as, "Surfers Paradise", a tourist mecca that sees more tourists than locals walk it's streets every year, all in search of something they don't have back where they come from, sunshine, and I have at my disposal, the ability to go there any time I want and do what Michael Hickey and thousands of other Aussies like to do, to take in, at extremely close range, the white pointers that flock here in a frenzy every year from all parts elsewhere and cause major problems for the locals, who want to do nothing more than walk on these beaches in a bid to soak up the poor amount of warmth from the low in the sky sun that the area is famous for, or it's rarity, as often as our busy lives permit, in that there are so many tall sky scraper apartment buildings that block this warmth, due in most parts, to the massive number of shadows that stretch out over these beaches that plunge these beaches into a semi darkness that can actually be seen from space on a clear day, plunging the area into the 20c range for most of the day, and we do our best to avoid this phenomena by accessing these beaches before the shadows once again, deny us the sunshine and visual spectacle of the sunbathing frenzy of the white pointers before the hours of noon and there after. Besides, where I live I am blessed with no sun at all, and for me to get that quality time in the sun I miss during winter, I will down tools and 'head for the sun' and enjoy the spectacle of the more delicate of the fairer of the species. I notice this happens on Wangerooge during the late winter weeks too, but mostly, fully clothed. Brrrrr And other than a cake shop of world renown, I will have few distractions from my model building exercise, being the main reason I am going, as well as to say g'day to the people who's faces I do not know, but have a kindred-ship that is the envy of the scale modelling world. But before then, there are some dragons to be slayed for me to access the golden handshake I crave, so that I can rest in the glow of my achievements from my labor of love. Fair enough. ? 🙂 🙂 🙂 👍 heheheheheheheheh 🙂
31 July 2018, 16:19
Michael Hickey
Yeah you can keep your tourist Kerry, here in Coffs Harbour there are plenty of beaches that the tourists don't know about so in the middle of summer there still relatively quite. If I really want to get away from more people that's where the 4x4 comes into play and there are more than enough beaches your aloud to cruise on to get some privacy. I just make sure I've always got my recovery gear on board because there'll be no one around to pull me out of the sand if I get stuck, and I wouldn't want to be stuck then throw salt water into the equation as well.😢

There's nothing like having fun with your fourby

White Pointers being nice and all... But the sum total of Kerry's description sounds a bit awful actually! I'd rather like a bit peace and quiet... Even the main beaches at the baltic sea are too crowded for my taste.
I'd rather ride along in Michaels 'fourby' 😛 never surfed though...

Hitch a ride with me Rene, I can find a few places that have never seen a pair of shoes.

And ME, and Michael, and stay for a beer or three. Yes. ? 🙂 👍

Peter Hardy
We have beer here Rene. And wine. And, models! You'll not regret a trip here. 6 weeks or 6 months, you will have to come back to see a wee bit more.

Alexander Grivonev
An absolute gem, Kerry! O, btw did you remove the seam lines on the tyres? 😄😄
2 August 2018, 11:02
Kerry COX
Alexander. Thank you for that comment. 🙂 and I ask, WHAT SEAM LINES. ?????? hahahahaha All is good mate. And besides. I will be leaving a note on my model on the comp table that says, "DO NOT TOUCH", as some clowns like to pick models up to see if they have been painted underneath and that can cause damage. So, they will just have to content themselves with what they see. 👍 🙂

You have those people as well Lode? I hoped we were the only country that did...

The Grandmaster of versatility strikes again 👍
Excellent skills in so many different subjects, cars, motorbikes, aeroplanes, tanks etc. 👍👍👍

Kerry COX
Christian, 🙂 I am honored by your words sir, as coming from the master of shipping, that means a big deal to me, thank you so much. 👍 👍 👍
BTW, the DT sign is for the judges who think they have an inalienable right to do what ever they like and it was something I had something to say about last year when the moron tried to spin the propellers on my see through Dornier 335. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr So they won't want to pull the same stunt this year. 😉

Aren't you 3 all in the same neighbourhood anyway?😉
Expensive trip and my SO doesn't like the idea of visiting Australia -.-
Wangerooge would be the best opportunity in the next 2 years🙂

Kerry COX
Rene, being in the same 'neighborhood' is quite funny really, as we all consider some one who lives a 1000 Km away as 'just up the road', as distance is not a challenge to any of us and 'going for a drive' here usually means your going a hell of a long way. Peter is 1000 Km north of me here and Michael is south 256 Km, about four hours. So yes. Not all that far really, knowing just how bloody big this country is. hahahaha 🙂
Peter is committed to other things before Wangerooge is on his radar, and Traveling with him would be a whole lot better than solo and both nutters for history and modelling means we will be doing a fair bit of having a "Captain Cook" 🙂 (having a look.) 🙂

What's the SO's issue with coming here? Expense? Language? Flight time? Australia is the most exotic place in the world, and Un Zud (New Zealand) is just a short flight away. Two wonderful destinations. And best of all, you meet the most wonderful people Down Under!
4 August 2018, 22:20

@Peter And best of all, you meet the most wonderful people not just down under 😉 🙂

Thank you Gordon. I am pretty happy with it myself mate. In fact, the best I have ever done. 👍
I am currently working on the V-6 Dino Ferrari, and just as much bare metal foil will be the order of the day on that too. But great lines. 👍 🙂

Album info

Having been enthralled by Spanjaard's Italari Ferrari of the same mark, I was smitten and just had to have one too.
I am detailing the entire engine compartment with hoses and wiring that will leave nothing out.
I do enjoy the extra work it takes to detail a model and I wonder why some folks just dont do it. But, that is just me.
