I loved this effort. It was the "Juniors" section and they are not "Judges" but all entrants are given a gift voucher to MrToys for their efforts.

I like 'm all. Thanks for posting.
English isn't my first language, but shouldn't it be Spitfires over Normandy vs Spitfire's over Normandy?
Or is that Aussie English?

That is neat. A line stretching out into the parking lot for a modeling show. You sure this is not for a AC/DC concert 😛

Spanjaard, There are a lot more to come mate. I took a photo of EVERYTHING that was presented, and if some I failed to get, they will be on the QMHE facebook page or web site. But I will post these links if you can't raise the FB side of things. 🙂

Kezza, thank you so much for taking those pictures! What a show! I guess I would have spend all day admiring these builds!
There only seems to be an error: exhibition piece 272 misses the red dot. Good to see that 272 got one!
29 August 2017, 10:23
Holger Kranich
The quality of the models is raising higher and higher!
29 August 2017, 11:19
Kerry COX
Thomas, Thanks mate. 🙂 No red dot at all mate, but the "Horse Power" was the winner here, also it won "People choice".The 272 wheat was "too uniform" I was told, and I do agree. The size and cut should have been more random. But I was happy to have shown something different from the usual 'battle scene' if you know what I mean. 🙂
29 August 2017, 11:48
Kerry COX
Holger, I am in total agreeance with you mate. the standard has been getting better every year, and no doubt, the after market stuff helps, but I have noticed that more people are competing too, raising the numbers on the table.
29 August 2017, 11:50
Alec K
This is some spectacular work Kerry. Thanks for sharing, and congrats on your well deserved win 👍
29 August 2017, 13:53
Bart Goesaert
some very nice models in there, very impressed with the paper aircraft... Do you happen to know whether the CV-120 (Pic 180, at least I think it is one, or it is an Armata) is scratchbuilt or if this is aftermarket?
29 August 2017, 14:14
Spanjaard
excuse my ignorance, Bart, but what do you mean with paper aircraft ? model made of paper or one that never actually existed further than the drawing board?
i agree with Kerry, picture 125 must be and incredible one. but there are may others that are really impressive
29 August 2017, 15:11

aircraft made from card (pic 104-106)

Not a good day for Spitfires (Pic 76)! Otherwise, some truly awesome builds and finishes! 👍
29 August 2017, 20:55
Kerry COX
Derek. I am bemused by your comment on image 76 mate. :-/ Were you seeing something that I haven't.? because this was taken before the 'red dot' started to appear. But I did notice some silvering under the big wing roundel. Yes. ? 🙂
29 August 2017, 21:12
Paulo Castro
Very nice crowd
30 August 2017, 01:23
Kerry COX
Over the weekend we had over 2500 people come out to see what was on offer. That is a good number for where it was held. 🙂 In between Brisbane and Ipswich at a sports complex. I had a great time but was so glad to get back home, some 100 Km away. 👍
30 August 2017, 03:07
Derek Huggett
Kerry. Stand back a bit! Check the tail marking..it has been rotated 90 degrees! (I noted the silvering too - here and on one or two other models - but then I never ever intimated that I was perfect myself!). I do hate to see good work spoiled by sloppy errors though! 🙂
30 August 2017, 06:43
Holger Kranich
Looks as the canopy is not painted, too...
30 August 2017, 08:37
Kerry COX
Derek. !! Wow. I missed that. :-O Now I will go back and look again. I feel really clutsy now. hahahahahaha
30 August 2017, 09:01
Derek Huggett
Kerry. Don't worry, it is called 'wood and trees' syndrome - you can get so close you miss the overall picture (a lesson I learned many years ago, and yet I can still suffer it myself now!). Just don't get me started (the Corsair in pic 213 has the star on the wrong upper wing too!). Yes, I know I am going to Hell for making these observations - but I could never see 'the kings new clothes' either! Time for me to bite my tongue methinks! 🙂

Holger - As I have just said to Kerry 'Don't get me started', but yes, that too! But don't go getting yourself a reputation like I probably am giving myself as a 'perfectionist'...that I am definitely NOT. As I said, I just hate seeing otherwise fantastic work spoiled by a daft error!😎 END😎
30 August 2017, 09:48
Kerry COX
Derek. I am sure that the judges saw these screw ups too mate but ignored them because they know that it was one of their club members. It happens all the time. But strangely enough, I didn't pay my usual critical eye on any of it, otherwise I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much as I did. BUT, the diorama called "Horse Power' everyone found faults with, but it won a ton of awards and 'peoples choice'. For me it was too 'clynical', clean and 'pretty'. The technique was there but he failed to give it any brutality, no sheen on the steel rimmed wheels, no feeling, just a wall painting. Sorry, but if you study the many images I posted of it, I think you will agree.

Urban. Yes, I thought it quite unique and appealing. What a great use of spare road wheels hey. 🙂 🙂 And the 'play' on words too. hehehehe 🙂 🙂 🙂

I've to see them all but, I see what you meant when you said that the level is higher and higher every year.
Thanks for sharing 👍 😮

Since the internet has allowed modellers to access images of competitions from all over the world, it is only reasonable to assume that great ideas and a lot of inspiration has followed. I know that since I have been here on SM, I have seen some amazing stuff on comp tables that is only now, starting to show up over here in Oz.
We all have that desire to do our best and show what we can accomplish, and that is the driving force for me. To be able to have a go and compete against some of the best, including you guys on SM.👍
1 September 2017, 00:38
Kerry COX
Choppa. I have found out since, that the 'spit' was in the junior section, so I can cut the lad a bit of slack on that one. he seemed to be just too eager to get something on the table, for sure. LOL 🙂
1 September 2017, 00:41
Choppa Nutta
haha, ah well fair enough 🙂
1 September 2017, 01:01
Robbie
@Kerry Cox Her son was just being a pain so she picked him up and turned him upside down

So Kerry is that a 'Down-under thing' to turn your misbehaving kid upside down to align him/her to the northern hemisphere 😄 - It has been awhile since I visited OZ (Nov '79), it totally blew me away.
1 September 2017, 01:51
Dutch
Oh, good show Kerry.
1 September 2017, 02:12
Kerry COX
Robbie. All of us living "Down Under" need to see the world from an upside down perspective now and then, I suspect that this kid was getting an earlier than expected chance to do that. hahahahahaha 🙂 🙂 🙂 👍
1 September 2017, 03:06
Kerry COX
Dutch. It is the biggest event in Queensland, especially for the SE corner of the State, as this is where the greatest part of the population live. 👍
1 September 2017, 03:08
Derek Huggett
Kerry. I concur with Choppa regarding the 'spit' - 'live and learn' and good on the lad for being eager. He is, after all, the future! 👍
1 September 2017, 08:44
Kerry COX
Hi Derek. Yes. I am constantly seeing more kids at the expo every year. In 2014, there were six kids get shopping coupons to buy a new model with, and this year, about 12 were all eager little beavers all beaming with huge smiles. The kid's entries are not 'judged', but all receive an encouragement award and a gift voucher. better that than see them shattered by a 'loss'. 🙂
1 September 2017, 09:21
Derek Huggett
Oh Kerry! It must be my age - 'live, learn, profit' = good, 'live, not learn, still profit' = not so good! I think I should just crawl back into me 'ole! 🙂
1 September 2017, 09:37
Patrick Hagelstein
Regarding that Spit, 'future' would be the sollution! 😄
1 September 2017, 12:25
Choppa Nutta
I don't think a few coats of Future will solve the tail fin insignia😉 😄

butty butt but...

.......it still remains so much of a better build than anything I ever did as a kid !! 😄
1 September 2017, 12:33
Martin Oostrom
That depends of your definition of 'kid'. In me head I still believe I'm 3 years old ( and sometimes behave like it's true 🙂 )
1 September 2017, 12:42
Choppa Nutta
haha Martin, there are times I think I suffer the same affliction lol 😄

Does thumb sucking still mean I have some growing up to do too. ? 'Cause my mummy said it would pass soon, but since then I have learned to do all kinds of cool things like.......................well.............you know what I mean. hehehehehe.

haha, well that conversation took a turn didn't it .... haha 😄

Album info

These are all the models that were on the "Competition" Tables. And no judging had been done by this time, so no 'indicators' will be visible. But when you see a red dot, it means it is either gold, silver or bronze.
I did all the images in sequence where possible, from left to right around the competition table lay out.
