Actually, I tried to build a Heinkel He 111H-20/R3 from this troublesome and incorrect kit from 1959, that has been reboxed over and over. I made as many corrections as possible, but I couldn't find a way to make a proper glazed nose....
Anyway, designed as a bomber this version was only used as a transport, due to lack of fuel, on the Eastern Front, Eastern Europe and Germany in late 1944 and eary 1945. It was found by Allied troops in a dismantled state in May 1945 at Berlin-Gatow airfield. Shame on Airfix to only rebox this obsolete kit and even to add it to the Battle of Britain gift set, since this version reached the front in .... late 1943. I never before have been more disappointed in a model kit than on this one. Tried to make the best of it. Though I'm very happy with the camouflage pattern, derived from original photos.
