Watching, I've almost started this project a couple times. What decals are you going to use?

Bill Davis
Ben, I am using a Microscale set. This was hard to find ,but now that Azur has a new B-10 out, maybe other decals companies will produce new sets.

When I do mine I was thinking of doing the yellow and blue with knil markings. I have seen the yellow and blue scheme both with the orange triangles as well as the dutch roundels.

I haven't been able to find those decals

Darn. I got a set from aviationmegastore but they aren't on the website anymore. It's puzzling because they are not listed as "out of stock". I've actually had bad luck with them coming apart, but I use them a lot because they have lots of the subjects I am interested in.

Let me say that this kit was free, and friend gave it to me. That being said, This kit has more flash, sink marks, and ejector pin marks of any kit I have worked on. It is a old kit, maybe it was made on Monday. It is taking a lot of sanding and filling to get it to this point. I hope I can turn it into something presentable.

This is my first attempt at duplicating parts with resin. The gray part is the original underwing bomb mount for the B-10. The tan one is the duplicate. I was really surprised how well it turned out. The Kit only comes with one bomb mount, but the Dutch bombers had one under each wing. This opens up all sorts of possibilities!

What did you use to make the mold?

Bill Davis
Skywalker, I used the Alumilite casting kit that you can get from Hobby Lobby.

That's quite a lot of filler needed!

The wings don't mount flush to the fuselage with a tab. There's a moulded pocket for the wing roots that the wing slips into. There's a edge all around the wing root that has to be blended in with filler.

How is this for modeler's logic? "My friend gave me this Williams B-10, so, since I didn't have to pay for it, I can buy the Azur kit!" Convoluted logic I know. I could have abandoned the Williams kit, but I had a lot of work into it. I used the Azur kit to make resin copies of the cowlings. Because of the kits construction, this was a little more difficult than models with one piece cowls.

I have both because I want to build a blue-and-yellow but in netherlands east indies marking and a green one. I kinda wish I had two azur kits after watching you build the williams brothers one! I do not intend to make all the corrections you are though - I'll live with the cowlings, etc. as they are.

The Dutch had a few of the early versions. You can do the Williams kit as the early model.

Ah yes, I just found a photo of a WH-1 at Andir in 1938 in the blue and yellow scheme, and indeed it does not have cowl flaps

Following this with great interest!

Nice build of an interesting aircraft. The 1930s must have been an exciting time for aviation designers and engineers; when the B-10 was released, it was hailed as a technological marvel...only to be considered obsolete a few years later.

I have finally got this thing painted. In the past I have used Model Master Enamels and Tamiya acrylics. I used AKA interactive on this model, primarily because they had a set of USAAF colors that contained # 42 medium green. I have mixed feelings about it. I first sprayed the model with Tamiya primer.
The AKA paint goes on very smooth and thin, but scratches easily. If you sand it, the paint does not featheredge but seems more like a skin and rolls up. I think I will try Hataka next time. Next clear coat and decals!

I am getting very close to finishing this model. I made the exhaust stacks out of .060 aluminum tube

I finished this kit a few weeks ago but computer problems prevented me from uploading photos. Much to my surprise, I got a third place award for this model at the local IPMS show.
