Hi Ray,
That's a truly Herculean project. I have a ton of walkaround images of the interior including the ramp area and the exterior including flaps and slats. If you are interested send me a PM.

That's a lotta work there! I'm sure buy the time i finish mine Revell will upscale their 1/144 scale kit the very next day!
10 September 2013, 02:52
Ray Seppala
I am sure you are right Glenn, I need to get back to this after I clear a few other projects from the bench

Eduardo Arguijo
Wow Ray, this is an amazing work, I would love to have this kit built in my collection, but I think it is out of my leage right now... Maybe by the time I finish the bear, the grizly, the transall and all the other biggies on my stash... I´ll be watching.

Ray Seppala
Thanks Eduardo, I must get back to this one.Still have others to get done first

Ray, you have way more guts than I have to tackle this beasty. Looks great! (Or way too much time on your hands.)

Working on correcting the engines and engine pylons at the moment

Dave Flitton
nice work so far!

Some more work on the cockpit. Created the new windscreen panels and temporarily fitted for testing. Existing roof section cut down to accommodate reshaped fuselage cross section. Last shots show the original shape of the windscreen panels and width of the cockpit compared to the more correct shape I have made it.

A very difficult task. Build a model of the "firewood" - a feat. Success to you.
22 December 2014, 03:38
Burkhard D
Oh, this one seems to take a very brave modeler. Great job so far, Ray. 👍

I'll share a bucket of pop corn with you Mike. This looks promising mate. RAAF no less 🙂
22 December 2014, 08:32
Ray Seppala
Pillars are done, panels are in loose and I think I will make new ones to get an exact fit
22 December 2014, 10:12
Ray Seppala
Cockpit 99% done, did a test fit to the fuselage and size comparison with a P-3... where am I going to put this thing when done!
26 December 2014, 07:23
Burkhard D
You can save some space on your shelf in case you put a large helicopter inside 😛

Ray Seppala
Good idea! 🙂 Burkhard

Finished reshaping cockpit section, now back to detailing cargo area. I need to work out if I can add lighting at this stage.
1 January 2015, 06:57
Roger Trewenack
Wow! Thats some very impressive scratch-building, Ray. You'll need plenty of display space to show that one off. Are you going to fill it with ADF hardware - M1A1, Land Rovers etc?
1 January 2015, 12:12
Es-haq Khosravi
Great job!
1 January 2015, 14:42
Christian Bruer
Holy Moly, this is an incredible work so far. A lot of filling, sanding, scratch building and dry fitting! Seems you need a lot of patience, otherwise the last exit, one of the hammers placed at the back wall of your workbench (note photo no. 9)😉

Wish I had the talent to deal with this kit! Amazing work so far Ray! 👍

What a helluva work, Ray! Incredible!
26 June 2017, 11:04
Kerry COX
Ray, Am I imagining things, or are you having internal fluro cabin lighting. ?
Great work mate and I bet it's nice to 'be back at it'. 🙂
Now I will have to make some fresh pop corn. hahaha 🙂
BTW. Will you be at this years QMHE in August. ? If so, I would love to shake your hand and have a natter mate. 👍
26 June 2017, 11:30
Ray Seppala
Thanks, gents, No fluros Kerry, just some white paint. I did toy with something like that but the build has gone too far to accommodate the lights. I will though add a couple in the upper ceiling so as all this work does not disappear.
As for QMHE, I will get there one day but not this year. It is a bit of a trek to Brissy from Canberra.
27 June 2017, 04:57
Kerry COX
Ray. I asked mainly because the little white strips that already LOOK like the fluro lights, thinking that leds' behind them was what you were doing. 🙂
It would look super spectacular to see the whole of the cargo area flooded with light. But maybe, a second build. ?? hehehehe (The devil in me). 🙂
27 June 2017, 07:27
Dutch
Ray,
My personal feeling is that you should get some kind of award, at least a medal for bravery and perseverance, in light of all the effort to accurize and correct the flaws of the Anigrand kit. I am just in awe of your talent and abilities. As always, it will be a joy to see this one finished. And while you may heave a huge sigh of relief, we will all be clapping in the background.

A most impressive result Raymond. 👍
I am wondering just where you will have all the power source and switches. :-O ?
Well, at least my beer is cold. hehehe 🙂 👍
5 August 2017, 01:20
Clifford Keesler
Amazing!!!
7 August 2017, 21:37
Ray Seppala
@Kerry, sorry for the late reply, the power source is a 1.5V button battery that will hide on the rear cargo door when installed, it powers 3 nano LEDs and has a power switch included. I now have the fuselage closed up and am progressing on getting it finished.

Good to see what scale it is Ray. The 'Dak' really brings it into perspective.👍
It has been a big project, (no pun intended) hehe, but so cool to see it become a work of art mate. 🙂
13 October 2017, 23:21
Dutch
Ray, wonderful to see the progress you're making. Yes, the Dak does give it perspective. The Globemaster is indeed HUGE. Carry on! R/ Dutch

Wow! I wasnt aware the Anigrand kit was that off. Incredible work so far. I was thinking about adding lights to my 144 Revell when I do it. May steal some ideas. Got my popcorn and rum and coke! 🙂

Do I spot the 1:144 sibling in work on image 58? And a C-130J-30! in 1:72!😎
14 October 2017, 18:49
Łukasz Gliński
Incredible project! As Dutch mentioned earlier on - unbelievable amounts of bravery and perseverance can be spotted here. Will watch with huge interest 👍
14 October 2017, 20:16
Ray Seppala
Thanks all, yes @Burkhard D, you see correctly. The 1/144 kit has been used as a reference from some corrections.
14 October 2017, 21:17
Dutch
Yes, I see the cargo triumvirate in Photo 59!
15 October 2017, 02:07
Dutch
Ray, quick question. How did you stretch (brand used) the C-130H/J-30 / L-100-30on the left in photo #59? I plan on a KC-130T-30 in USMC marks and plan on using the old Airmodel vacuformed stretch conversion. I would be interested in your comments. R/ Dutch
12 February 2019, 15:24
Dave Flitton
So....where is the C-5?
12 February 2019, 21:15
Ray Seppala
@ Dave Fllitton, I have a 1/144 C-5, that will do for me! @ Dutch sorry about the REALLY late responce, the C-130-30 is an AMT AC-130H that I am butcering back to a C-130J-30. The extensions are polystyrene plugs made by a gent in Sydney under the 'Hoot Owl' branding. He mainly makes these conversion parts for himself but knocked up a few sets when I asked about them.
12 February 2019, 23:02
Dutch
The ESCI/ERTL/AMT 1/72 C-130 is my least favorite Herk kit. Shapes are just wrong! But, in the hands of a master such as yourself, I am sure the results will be outstanding! My only concerns about using the old Airmodel plastic are two: the brittleness of the old plastic and the thickness (or thinness) compared to the thickness of the kit parts. It will require much internal bracing / reinforcing.
13 February 2019, 13:10
Scott Dutton
Wow, I admire your courage on such a task, great work
24 April 2020, 23:48
Ray Seppala
Some more work done on this one, wing rescribing work found more issues to correct. The flap track fairing and engine pylon locations are wrong. So they are being repositioned. The flap track fairings themselves are also the wrong shape and are being also corrected. I have also been reshaping the engines and adding other details that I had omitted earlier including a minor reshape of the forward area and the undercarriage sponsons.

20 September 2021, 07:32
