The Big Harrier Build

Album image #1
Taped the two halves and put the wing on just to get a sense of size of the thing! Now to build the cockpit

Album image #2
Tub, chair and IP all finished OOB with decals supplied. Came together nice and easy

Album image #3
Anyone know any seat belts for sale?

Album image #4
First pic of the HUGE engine

Album image #5
Engine with gubbins on top. It says that big pipe should be gun metal but I thought a nice splash of red might help get us all in the festive spirit!

Album image #6
Try and get a seat belt out of this maybe?

Album image #7
Quick 1:100 Tamiya Lightning to chill me out mid build!

Album image #8
All the main interior support bits and wheel wells are now in

Album image #9
This is going to be no fun getting the other half of the fuselage on!

Well I'd love to but am a bit rubbish so you're going to have to tell me how I get a pre painted PE set for this as I can't find one anywhere! It's that or you'll have to tell me how to scratch build the handles and some seat belts! Lol. Many thanks for the compliments BTW

Hehe Adam, I'll be delighted too..

First the actuall seat your aiming for is a MB Mk9

flickr.com/photos/cw..v-72157631077063982/

So give that a look over and it will show you what your trying to replicate.

I'll post some links for how to make the belts in a bit

Just ordered a seat belt PE set from Hannants, it's for WW2 era (late) planes but thought I'd give them a go as never used them before. Any tips?

It's so big, are you going to use a wall roller to paint it? Don't quit now!! LOL Gary

All the gubbins are in the fuselage now, just need to put the engine in and stick the other half on. Frankly, I'm not looking forward to this as I can tell already that the fuselage has warped. It's gonna be one of those 'I wish I had four hands' builds me thinks! The little Tamiya Lightning was a perfect chill out build btw, highly recommended. Wish me luck and as ever, thanks for watching.

Also, has anyone else noticed the amount of these on other forums that never get finished, determined not to join that gang. I will finish this Big Bird!!!!!!

Augie
Lol Yes adam.. I have noticed the number of DNF... I've got a few of those myself..

Really? I have this major OCD thing where I have to finish it before I start the next major one. I just do the little planes mid build as like a chill out remedy
24 November 2013, 23:34
Augie
🙂 it happens to us all, I have 3 which are DNF's..

A Mig-27 which just drove me insane, A Wess*x the Nose melted after bad paint, and a tomcat where the body was warped past recovery.
24 November 2013, 23:38
Adam Carter
The body on this is warped so I think I'll have to melt the two halves together!

hot water perhaps to straighten?

Tried it, it just will not set true, but it's a very old mold now so I shouldn't moan I suppose. Does anyone have any ideas how to make the engine fit?
26 November 2013, 07:22
Greg Solomon
You can always "gulp" render it as a crashed Harrier...

Even if I did a crash dio, I'd still have to put the sodding engine in! Lo

I was lucky to find one on line and it is in the stash presently. I was able to get a metal pitot tube and resin wheels for it as well as the cammo mask and replacement decals (I am doing a USMC bird). I will be watching!
