8 June 2019, 13:58
Clifford Keesler
Thanks all welcome aboard. I am doing the Air-Superiority Grey. The one with the blue and yellow tail. Don't worry Augie, the next one will be in the splinter, if I can get the Tarangus or Special Hobby mask to work. The re-scribe work is all done and cockpit is primed. More pictures tomorrow. This kit has no aliginment pins, so made tabs from plastic card.
10 June 2019, 02:50
Nathan Dempsey
Coming together there Clifford. Much respect on the rescribing.
12 June 2019, 00:39

Spanjaard
Looking good
15 June 2019, 21:52
Nathan Dempsey
Nice Clifford. It's taking shape!
15 June 2019, 23:15
Slavo Hazucha
Oh man, it really looks like an old school fight with the model, re-scribing & a proper amount of filing-up gaps & sanding... But it's starting to take shape now & when the dust of battle settles, you'll have a rare gem on your table😉
16 June 2019, 05:51
Clifford Keesler
Thank you very much Spanjaard, Nathan, James and Slavo. @James yes I was orginally going to build it OOB, but the more I looked at it the more I decided to "update" it. LOL. I will get the intakes sanded, then I can install the wings and Canards.
16 June 2019, 18:03
Clifford Keesler
Wings and canards installed. I will get more pictures up tomorrow.
17 June 2019, 04:31

18 June 2019, 21:54

Starting to look like a vicious little scandinavian pitbull😉
18 June 2019, 21:59
Augie
like it ! 🙂
18 June 2019, 22:52
Nathan Dempsey
I agree. Such a distinctive aircraft.
19 June 2019, 00:19
Chris Greathouse
#21 Looks like it's scribing or rescribing. Can you describe your reasoning for doing so? Are the panel lines crap, shallow? or incorrect? are you adding panels? Something else?

Looks like dicey work because you have to be so careful and diligent when working with sharp things on soft plastic... I'd be afraid to cut it up every other scribe.
19 June 2019, 00:38
Clifford Keesler
Thank you very much Slavo, Augie, Nathan, James and Chris for your kind words. I am glad you all like it. It is a very distinctive aircraft and I like it very much, so there will be more of them coming. @Chris yes it is re-scribing, the kit originally had raised panel lines, plus I added some panels and rivet detail from scale drawings. I thought that with all of the aftermarket stuff I was adding, I could not leave it with raised panel lines. Though I guess I could have just pre-shaded the raised panel lines. But I do not think it would of looked as good as the recessed panel lines. Hope that answers your questions.
19 June 2019, 02:31
Chris Greathouse
Indeed 🙂 Thanks Clifford!
19 June 2019, 03:36
Clifford Keesler
You are welcome sir.
19 June 2019, 03:51
Stephan Ryll
Very good progress Clifford 👍
19 June 2019, 15:08
Michael Phillips
This looks great so far Clifford! Props for rescribing a whole model, that is something I did once and hated so much I might never do so again, except maybe once I do a monogram B-58. Looking forward to seeing you progress!
19 June 2019, 16:43
Clifford Keesler
Thank you Stephan and Michael. @ Michael, this one wasn't to bad actually.
19 June 2019, 16:58
Nathan Dempsey
The scribing will pay off on the finish Clifford. I already know I'm just going to be REALLY lazy and just pay up for a kit already scribed.
19 June 2019, 17:04
Clifford Keesler
Thanks Nathan. Yea I know what you mean, I however have a limited modeling budget, so it is hard for me to come up with like the 90.00 for the Special Hobby, or Tarangus kit. plus the aftermarket stuff for them. I did get lucky and found the KH SU-17/22 on E-bay for 20.00. LOL.
19 June 2019, 17:15
Nathan Dempsey
I do the same. I'll watch and watch until I find a little better deal. Sometimes I might decide to sell a stash kit to get a more expensive one I'm wanting.
19 June 2019, 18:39
Clifford Keesler
I used to feel that way also. Then I finally decided to try one, and believe it or not now I actually kind of enjoy it. I re-scribed a Revell 1/48 F-14A, and it turned out very nice. I will be re-scribing 2 Monogram F-15c's. Progress report on the Viggen, all the pylons and weapons rails are installed, and I started the weapons. Have some minor putty work yet and the undercarriage.
20 June 2019, 02:16
Nathan Dempsey
Do I see more progress? Some black base?
22 June 2019, 03:25
Clifford Keesler
Yes, hopefully tomorrow she will be wearing her colors.
22 June 2019, 03:26
Stephan Ryll
Omming along nicely Clifford 👍
22 June 2019, 08:06

Looks fantastic Clifford!!
23 June 2019, 04:54
Donald Dickson II
How the hell did I miss this?????
23 June 2019, 05:20
Clifford Keesler
Thank you very much James, Nathan Konrad and Donald. @Donald, probably because progress has been so slow. I have enjoyed it so much so far that I bought another one. The ESCI boxing of it. Same kit as the Airfix and Iteralie. I will try the splinter camo on the next one.
24 June 2019, 00:37
Clifford Keesler
Getting near the end.
27 June 2019, 18:29
Nathan Dempsey
Wow, the decals are looking great. These were the kit decals?
27 June 2019, 20:39
Clifford Keesler
Yes sir, right out of the box. Italeri always seems to have excellent decals. Hope to get to the final assembly stage tomorrow.
28 June 2019, 00:05
Tim Heimer
Looking good Clifford!
28 June 2019, 00:34
Clifford Keesler
Thanks Tim, your kind words are much appericated.
28 June 2019, 06:05
Slavo Hazucha
Looking good Clifford! Those huge tail decals must have taken some serious chemistry to force into shape on that surfaces! Job well done & good luck on the final touches!
28 June 2019, 06:18
Clifford Keesler
Thank you very much Slavo. She has her legs and weapons now. The tail decals went on with no problems at all. Some Micro Sol settled them nicely into place.
29 June 2019, 01:22
Paul Juliano
Wow, really excellent work!
29 June 2019, 02:40
Nathan Dempsey
Looks great Clifford! Italeri really doesn't skimp on the decals do they? The rescribe on that old kit came out nice and makes it stand out for sure.
29 June 2019, 03:01
Stephan Ryll
Very nice progress Clifford 👍 looking very good

Christian Bruer
Very nice work and finish 👍
29 June 2019, 09:54
Slavo Hazucha
Shining bright! 👍 The accentuated panel lines look great, the re-scribing pays it's debts with interest on top! Canopy & cockpit turned out great too, you can be really happy with the deal on the table! 🙂
29 June 2019, 11:15
Tim Heimer
That'll be a nice addition to your collection!
29 June 2019, 12:34

29 June 2019, 22:18
Clifford Keesler
That may be true.
29 June 2019, 22:37
Clifford Keesler
Finally finished.
29 June 2019, 23:25
Konrad -
Congrats Clifford for another nice bird in your collection. Very nice 👍
30 June 2019, 06:09
Slavo Hazucha
And across the line! Cheers & thumbs-up for a great looking Viggen! 👍

@ Hans - agree on the RL orange - do you (or anyone else) know what is the idea/purpose behind having your plane, even the camo versions, covered in huge neon numbers on top? They sure look good on the models, but "combat value"?
30 June 2019, 07:49
Derek Huggett
The dayglo numbers are something to do with peacetime training/exercises I think (can't be certain though)! Should worst come to worst, I imagine they would be removed fairly hastily! (Let us hope there is never any need to!). 🙂 Nice Swedish 'bolt Clifford! 👍
30 June 2019, 09:56
Stephan Ryll
Another gem left you bench Clifford 👍
Great work 🙂
30 June 2019, 11:47
Nathan Dempsey
Well done Clifford. Makes me want a Viggen for sure 🙂
30 June 2019, 15:27
Maciej Bellos
Simply beautiful! Well done Clifford!
30 June 2019, 18:57
Clifford Keesler
Thank you very much Konrad, Slavo, Hans, Derek, Stephan, Nathan, Maciej and James. Your comments are greatly appericated. It was a fun build. I will most surely will be doing another one. @Hans, almost all of the reference photos I looked at had the numbers on the wings in the grey scheme. I agree with Derek, I think they were for a training exercise. Most aircraft have the number in red on the tail though.
30 June 2019, 21:08
Mats Bengtsson
Nice looking Viggen Clifford 👍

The high visibility Dayglo identification codes were, as some have mentioned, used to enhance the flight safety during peacetime training. I think "Flygvapnet" (Air Force) started to use these Dayglo codes in the mid-late eighties.
5 July 2019, 19:57
Clifford Keesler
Thank you Mats.
