Hey guys, look at this. I was starting to do a color paint test for my P-36 build and look what I found. My Vallejo Metal Color Aluminium went BAD!. I had four bottles and they all went bad also a Chrome and White Aluminium. These Metal Color I got back in 2015 when they first came out. My bottles have not been open until now and no good. My darker colors seam to be fine but can I trust them? Now I have found new Vallejo Metal Colors with New Formula on the label. I also added some photos of my other metallic colors that I will now test for my NMF for the P-36. I lost over 100 dollars US on paint I never used.

Hey Ben, I all so love Polly Scale paints. I got a whole lot of them. A local hobby store I go to had a bunch he wanted to get read of so I got over 100 bottles of the 1/2oz and 1oz bottles some over 20 years old and still good.

Tip: Never add thinner or something else into the bottles of vallejo paint. I suspect it will go bad after some time. I have a bottle of Vallejo Chrome metal paint, that went bad, and I strongly suspect it is because I added a few drops of maybe thinner or something else. It was as if the paint had turned gooey and turned into a ball inside the battle, with some other liquid around it.

I try to spend some time shaking my bottles of older Vallejo paint, hopefully that will help a little from things going bad.

I also keep some unused paint, inside zip loc bags, hopefully that might help a little as well.

I only have 71.062 to brush, but I don't like the paint. It is not grip resistant. Light years behind my beloved Alclads, but unfortunately as those for airbrush you can only brush them on very small things.

Bughunter, Thanks. I have not used the Metal Colors on a project. I started to and found that the old Aluminum color went bad. I don't think any Acrylic Metallic paint will beat a Alcad or any other Lacquer or Enamel Metallic paint. I do think that the Vallejo Metal Colors just may be the best Acrylic Metallic paint on the market right now. I found the Metallic Panel set at Hobby Lobby, the other three I got off of Ebay. There is also an Aluminum Dope, Engine and Jet Exhaust set. Each set is around $30.00 US.
With the Four color sets you have all of the Metal Color range except for Gold, a Gloss Black Primer and Gloss Metal Varnish. All four sets are geared to Aircraft Modeling. I do like the Packaging of the Paints a lot cheaper to buying than in single bottles. I hope the new Metal Colors will last longer. PS I don't use Lacquer or Enamel paints of any kind for Health reason. It will be hard to get a true mirror or chrome finish with Acrylic Paints and that OK with me.

From my experience with that single color your Gloss Metal Varnish seems to be needed, but it looks you are well equipped.
I use Alclad also only with mask and exhaust. Anyway, you should wear a mask during airbrushing even if the paint do not smell. There are clouds of pigments in the air which are not healthy for your lungs.

Bughunter, Thanks. I do wear a mask when I spray and I have a spray booth. I need to do more testing before my first project with metal Colors.
