Yes, this is an active late war, within german boarders, and yes, I ALWAYS do my research, and yes.... This would be typical of a german machine nearing the end of wwii, lol
Sorry, had to make sure I said that, as I was anticipating those questions .

Thanks for the comments guys! But I've had a few comments, suggesting I use better research.... Because my barrel is red oxide... But as the post states, this is a "progress" posting, and my process is a 6 stage process, consisting of 3-4 layers each, at one point, the entire tank was red oxide, and prior to that, the entire tank was raw steel, and like the other areas on the tank, the final stages of the barrel are forthcoming.... Be patient! Lol

This post brought up a good question. What was the colour of German gun barrels before they were painted any camo ? Were they unpainted (blued steel ?) or did they paint them with red oxide or some other primer colour. I noticed that aa guns looked unpainted or some dark steel grey. Any idea, suggestions ?

@Robbie: A grey heat-resistant primer was used on barrels.

Thanks H K - Is there a RAL number or better yet a recommended Tamiya, testors, Humbrol, etc etc you recommend to use ?

Thanks guys! Btw, the barrel is grey now, and that's as far as it's gone, I'm working on a few other kits too, but this Jagdtiger is going to be entered in a show next month, I'll be sure to update you all on the outcome! 🙂

Oh wait... I also made up some metal tow cables too and those are rusted, they turned out sweet! I'll have to post pics

@Robbie: Sadly no RAL number. The descriptions range from medium grey to dark grey.
