Started this kit years ago, one of the first when I returned to the hobby. I put on the shelf of doom due to ill-fitting parts, but I hope my skill level has improved enough now I can tackle it again!

I you don't use decals for the rounded windows at the sides, you could try using liquid glass to create the window surfaces. Though.. that depends on how well the window openings are molded in the first place, as it would be difficult to shape such small windows I think. I have yet to use liquid glass, but I will use this for my A-380 in 1:144 scale, when I get around to it. Not quite sure what the best approach would be. Simplest would be to add glass, at the very end after airbrushing on paint, gloss coat and varnish. I've also thought about sanding over the liquid glass, but I don't know how well that will go, hm maybe a possibility just after a few layers of gloss coat (which would protect the paint).

Gordon, you might want to check the shape of the 'new' nose piece Airfix added when retooling the kit. It is too 'fat' in plan view and needs to be filed down to more of a point. The good thing is that the retooled nose plastic is very thick and you can file a lot down to get the correct shape. I also have one of these on the shelf to finish, I had paint issues with mine.

All the windows fell out of the fuselage. Not sure how to mount them with the fuselage closed up..... Might be easier to mask the fuselage before I try to reinstall the wndows.
Finished painting the wings. Made small gear doors for the front of the landing gear oleo. Next, I need to add the gear doors to the nacelles and paint the de-ice boots on the props.
The nose cone was not a good fit at all. Needs a lot of filler and a lot of sanding. I kind of like this Tamiya Putty I am using!

Lucky you, I'm still searching for one of them on ebay 🙂 Will follow.
@Treehugger: I experimented on my Yak-40 with covering the liquid glass with GX gloss varnish and it seems to works as long as you spray very thin first two-three layers.

Got primer on the fuselage. Definately a little work required on the seams!
The doors do not fit nicely at all. Thinking I will model it with the doors open...

Was reading an online build article about how the vertical fin fairing is too small. Was going to ignore it, but figured it was going to bug me til no end if I knew about it, but didn't fix it...

Don't worry, Dordon. I'll say I did not know anything. Looking good😉 👍

Good, that you spotted it Gordon. Otherwise it could be hard to squeeze the decal there. 👍

Front windshield mounted and puttied with a bit of Tamiya, then some Perfect Putty. Added the antennas, so hopefully ready to paint soon...

I can honestly say "I Hate White!" Fourth coat and I am still getting patchy areas that the white seems to be avoiding....

If I may, I'd propose white primer 🙂

Yeah Lucasz, I was thinking that after the second or third coat. A little late now...

We both know it's never too late to wash away the misbehaving white paint😉

Broke down and took Lucasz' advice....
Sanded some of the white, gave it a coat of Tamiya white primer, and then a final coat of Testors White. More or less happy with coverage now.
Resprayed the bottom in Tamiya Grey Primer.
Ready to make the fuselage windows.

Glad to hear my advise is welcome😉 Waiting for the blue part 🙂

Soooo.... the blue trim is translucent. I need to redo the white/grey split on the fuselage. Right now you can see the grey through the decal, so I need to re-paint white where the blue decal sits.
One atep forward, two steps back.... And this isn't even an Amodel Avanti...
