Sea Base

Album image #1
I cut the rectangular piece of 3cm styrodur and glued artists water colour paper on top. When the glue dried, I trimmed the paper and cut the ship's shape into it.

Album image #2
The paper was then painted with acrylic colours - some blue, green and white and blended together with wet brush.

Another view at that time.

Next step was to add more gel, to create waves.

Album image #5
This was followed by AK Interactive Atlantic Blue water gel - yeah don't worry, it dries to a much more realistic colour.

Album image #6
More and more gel layers were added, Atlantic Blue as well as Transparent one, mixed with either blue or green to add more 3D effect and the feel of depth.

Album image #7
The look of the base at the moment - the edges were painted flat black, while the edge of the ship and its wake were painted with Transparent gel mixed with white. After the ship will be mounted to the base, further foam effects will be added to the base.

I've never tried making a water/sea base. Great walk through, thanks for sharing. I'm going to have to make one now. looking forward to the rest of your build.
