Yes, that's right, swastikas and some of the other runes are outlawed in Germany and some other European nations. That's why models omit them or make the decals in two pieces.

No, it is not. Only displaying a swastika and only in Germany (and on German owned websites, etc.) is it unlawful. But purchasing or selling items with a swastika is not against the law. I am a WWII militaria collector and I buy original WWII gear from German shops (officer visor caps, for instance). No problem with that and obviously all items still retain the swastika.

It is a local law (to Germany) so any foreign websites can do and display whatever they want. Displaying a swastika on ScaleMates is perfectly legal.

@Julian: oh dear... 😛 I have tried with some of my Dragon Sd.Kfz.250 kits, several times, and failed miserably! 😄 I'm sure with a LOT of patience some people might be able to pull it off but it is definitely not for me 😉 LOL!

I basically either use the Wehrmacht license plate decals or use a license plate decal set from Archer, which includes single piece SS runes. And a whole lot of other useful stuff 🙂

I like it, but I find it more useful, when a frame like this has more of badges you need often more, like an eagle. What you have here is for one figure.

@Joerg: there are several rows included on the Photo Etch fret so you can dress up (as far as I can tell) at least three, maybe four, figures as far as the chest eagles are concerned. Plus you can at least create 1 x Wehrmacht, 1 x SS and 1 x Luftwaffe using one row of badges/medals. So you can actually dress up a lot more figures. And by mixing and matching the included badges, medals and orders you can obviously dress up a multitude of figures 😉

Maybe you can include an image of the entire PE fret? Or add to your list / map the number that are included. That way it would be more clear what exactly is on the fret 🙂

I do agree with Joerg on one thing: it would nice to have a second edition of photo etch that contains general / standard badges. like chest eagles, cap eagles and rank (sleeve) badges. That way we could use the photo etch on quite a few figures.

Also, I noticed there is one very important Wehrmacht clasp missing: the "Close Combat Clasp" (in German: Nahkampfspange). It would be nice to have it 😉 here's the Wiki article concerning this clasp: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Close_Combat_Clasp

Thanks Joerg and John! U both are right but there are 4 rows of them in the fret. But its a good idea of making a fret with so said quality. 🙂

And you are right John! I forgot about the close combat clasp, it is very common for veteran wehrmacht soldiers! But clasps in 1:35th are so similar to each other! :-D By the way i will fix it in the next series. 🙂

Great you will add the close combat clasp as well, Es-haq! 👍 👍 And you're absolutely right, Germans had a "thing" for medals and badges, just like the Russians. There are so many that you can't possibly get them all to fit on one fret 😉 for instance, two other extremes: Blood Order and the Mother's Cross 😉

And then we haven't even begun talking about ribbon bars 😉

I would also be very interested in the "Joerg version" of PE fret with the basic badges! 😄 👍

one thought occurs to me, and I might be wrong to suggest this but might it be better for the really tiny things like the medals etc. to have just one sprue attachment rather than 2 or 3 ?

as the weight/leverage wouldn't be significant enough to cause concern and they would be easier to cut cleanly from the fret. Perhaps this is a none issue for the PE adept, it was just a thought 🙂

@ Choppa: Thank you mates! That point is right, but for some small parts, they may pop up from the surface of the fret if they have just one attachment and they may break from the fret very easily by any small force or touch. 🙂
