Tim, Thank you for the offer, but I'm actually having some custom decals made for a civil S-58ET. I'm keeping it a surprise. Cheers! Dutch

Didn't they use S-58Ts in 'Full Metal Jacket' as well?

Westland Wess*x HU5 was used in filming Full Metal Jacket. Think other ocean.

Maybe I should spell Wessux with a "u" so as not to offend the censors?

I will attempt to finsh this over the Christmas - New Year holiday. Have to take vacation or lose it. So I hope I don't get too many other honey do's during that time.

I can't believe that it has been four years since I last touched or posted on this project. Time to resurrect it and get the surgery done.

Stanley Kubrick is afraid of flying, that's why the whole movie was filmed in the UK, even the jungle scenes. And that's why a Wessex is flying as stand in for a Choctaw. By the way, when a seller offers a kit for half price, make sure it isn't a half box as well! 😄 Where the "censored" did you get that kit so mingled up?

Patrick, At the time when I was looking for a 1/48 kit of the UH-34 / Wessex I fell into the age old modeler's trap, the perpetual struggle of our chosen calling: when the modeler's desire to create his chosen fantasy (hereafter referred to as subject "X"😢 overcomes his patience at waiting for the mainstream manufacturers to issue the pen-ultimate kit of "X" (or re-issue a good enough kit of "X"😢 which is only tempered by his significant other's patience and his wallet's ability to assuage his primeval urges in funding his search by pilfering wanton amounts of hard earned cash on every book or magazine with even a mention or low quality b&w photo of "X" and any piece of plastic & resin that even closely resembles "X." Ah yes! I couldn't wait. I purchased this particular Wessex because it was less than the outrageous going rate on eVilbay (because of its condition, no doubt) and within a few months, Revell reissued the UH-34D kit for less than half of what I paid. Doh! Unfortunately, trying to modify the Wessex RN cabin windows back to UH-34 standard proved futile, and I ended up purchasing a re-issued Revell UH-34D anyway. Lesson learned! What goes around, eventually comes around. It will be a S-58T soon.

Hmm... I appears that a period followed by a close parenthesis produces a wink emoji! .)
