detailed the first set of engines. While taking photo's one fell to the floor, looked good around but couldn't find it, put my chair aside, right on top of it... AAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGGGGGGHHH

Removed and changed some outside details... soon to finish the cockpit...

Cockpits finished. What is the best order for painting? first the metal parts, then the camo, or vice versa?

The first AAM-3 missile is scratched in 1/144... on to the next one...

looking goooood, specially in this scale! 🙂, and some people call 1/72 braille scale 😛

Bart Goesaert
Thx Spanjaard
8 April 2017, 10:58
Bart Goesaert
decals added, ready to seal.. then I need to tape them 1 by 1 before camouflage...
10 April 2017, 11:17
Bart Goesaert
that's the overall result I want to achieve after camouflage: [img1]

10 April 2017, 11:42
Spanjaard
wow, that will be a petty interesting masking!
10 April 2017, 17:48
Martin Oostrom
It would be interesting in 1/48 or 1/72. In this 1/144 I call it nearly impossible.
You're raising the bar, Bart 👍
10 April 2017, 17:54
Bart Goesaert
thx, one can only try... it will not be the camo shown, but i think i will go for these:

and something like [img1]

The other one I have the decals in 1/144 and 1/48, and I think I will go for the 1/48 version then

11 April 2017, 07:58
Spanjaard
so you will add the stencils, and mask over to do the extra camo.... right? i would suggest to do some testing before. I had some stencils covered with Future (at least two thin layers), and then used some tamiya masking tape. i even placed the tape on my skin first to make it weaker, but the tape took the stencils with it.... so better do some testing, otherwise you may find all those tiny decals/transfers gone when you remove the masking.
it may have been just me, maybe i should have added more future, but just in case.
11 April 2017, 08:39
Bart Goesaert
Unfortunately there's no other way... some decals have a grey background, others don't... I've already applied a coat of tamiya clear, maybe a second coat couldn't hurt... a warned man...
11 April 2017, 08:46
Spanjaard
better safe than sorry, and for sure, goes without saying, i would leave it a couple of days to cure completely....(that is one of the most difficult parts from me, leave it there and do not touch it when you actually have the time....)
11 April 2017, 09:09
Bart Goesaert
there's always another kit... but then you have to get back to the previous one 😉

time to spend some time with the hellcat again...
11 April 2017, 09:16
Spanjaard
ha ha ha, indeed 🙂

mmmh, I missed this so far. Very nice work, I'm looking forward to the final result 👍

Holger Kranich
Did someone already told you, that your masking is crazy-good?
27 April 2017, 11:52
Bart Goesaert
thx (I hope, but still not really convinced it will work to satisfaction...), but we will see in a few days, how it will hold when airbrushing the camo...... I will tape in the first one, and spray it, so that I can take the lessons learned to the second one...
27 April 2017, 11:57
Spanjaard
looking really good, this will be a one of a kind model. well, two of a kind😉
27 April 2017, 12:23

So this is basically a 4-tone camo on a 1:144 model, times 2 😮 You've earned my respect (again)
Keep it up!
7 May 2017, 10:08
Bart Goesaert
thx, 1 fault and 1 area that will need some sanding. I'll call it a succes, maybe I'll add an extra white stripe above the left wing...
