I'm in! Did the same kit three years ago, with the W.E. PE fret as well depicting the shipyard fresh PT 117 : scalemates.com/profi..ms&album=20198#6
Seeing the a.t. gun kit, I suppose it will be the very Kennedy mount ? Will you sand the deck to get rid of the planking structure ? Despite its age, still a real fun one !

Hallo Hanno, welcome aboard.
This PT109 will indeed be the Kennedy mount. Your remark about the deck plank structure got me worrying and I spend a couple of hours today searching the net to find pics of how the deck really was. To be honest I'm still not convinced 100% but I think those deck planks had been covered with some kind of anti derapant stuff. So yes, I think I will sand the deck to an almost smooth surface only to be treated with Mr Surfacer to make it more convincing.
I will also remove all deck items and rebuild them to a finer standard. A long time job coming up!

Hi Erwin - I love PT boats and will be following build. I have done the two Tamiya 1/72 ones and hope to add at a later date.

Hi Michael, welcome as well.
Those Tamiya kits are also waiting here as well as all those Airfix kits. Keep posted!

Erwin, you're right, the whole hull was laminated with airplane fabric, so all the surfaces were smooth.
It is a bit of work, but once started, it goes quite well and doesn't take too long. For further reference you might
Consider Norman Polmar and Samuel Loring Morrison's Book " PT Boats at War ". It contains a lot of informations and useful Pictures.ISBN 0-7603-0499-8
