Here are the first pics of this new project. The fit is realy ok. I replaced the airfix seat by a pavla seat.

28 December 2012, 19:08
Michel Huijghe
Good start.

Claudio Corral del Castillo

28 December 2012, 20:12
Christian Lehmann
Gracias Claudio. This was the firts time ever I used decals for the cockpit. But it turned out well.

Hi Christian,
looks very fine so far!
Your weathering on the cockpit floor in scale 72 is crazy! 🙂 Fine work!
Since I saw last weekend the same model, also from Argentina Air Force from my friend Andreas (you know him from last year in Helchteren, the guy with bald head) I agree very much looking forward to your model! 🙂

Christian Lehmann
He built the same kit? or another scale?
29 December 2012, 12:34
Dirk Heyer
No,
the same Airfix kit! 🙂
29 December 2012, 12:39
Christian Lehmann
He surely added a lot of additional faetures 🙂
29 December 2012, 12:48
Dirk Heyer
No, his intention was to built a Airfix Skyhawk out of the box as we did as youngsters!
Only really necessary details as minor scratch works on cockpit panels and the undercarriage!
Yes of course I was surprised totally to see something like this from Andreas! 🙂
He told me that he wanted to build something for OOB...... 🙂
29 December 2012, 13:06
Christian Lehmann
Thats the same intention as I have. I want to finish it within two weeks ( as I did it when I was younger). Besides the seat I will only add something to the landing gear ( hydraulik tubes) an use alternative decals. Nothing else.
Greetz and happy new year.
29 December 2012, 13:10
Dirk Heyer
Happy new year my friend!!
29 December 2012, 13:19

29 December 2012, 22:49
Claudio Corral del Castillo
not bad! (it must be very small)
29 December 2012, 23:03
Christian Lehmann

30 December 2012, 14:11
Mike Kryza
Hi Lemmy - I agree with Frank..
30 December 2012, 14:48
Christian Lehmann
Hi Mike, also many thanks.
All small parts are primed and the sanding period started. I hope to finish detail painting and sanding at january 1st so that the paint job can start on january 2nd. I will have a spectator for this. One member of 1. PMCN will visit me to observe and maybe adapt some of my techniques.
30 December 2012, 15:11
Christian Lehmann
Little progress on this project. I caught a cold an was in bed for 1 1/2 days.
2 January 2013, 20:22

Zieh mir jetzt zum Ausklang des Tages " The Empire strikes back" rein.
Gruß
Christian

@ Frank: Danke, geht schon wieder besser.
@ Tim: Thanks Tim.
3 January 2013, 10:40
Christian Lehmann
had some progress this week end. new pics added
6 January 2013, 17:04
Wilfried Bogaerts
😮 fantastic! Are those cockpit details decals from the kit?
6 January 2013, 17:45
Christian Lehmann
Thank´s Wilfried. The decals are from the kit. This is the first time that I use decals for a cockpit. But the panels of the kit are flat so the decals were the best and cheapest option for me. The seat is from pavla but it needs to be trimmed a little bit to fit.
6 January 2013, 18:07
Philip De Keyser
Great progress Christian, very nice paintjob, looking forward with the decals on it, greetz Phil
6 January 2013, 19:05

6 January 2013, 19:11
Christian Lehmann
Thank´s Phil and Frank.
Frank: What do you mean?
6 January 2013, 21:10
Frank Krause
Hi Lemmy, I love the shading of the camo...
6 January 2013, 21:15
Christian Lehmann
No special techniques noly preshading and painting .
But I am still not satisfied with it. I have to rework the earth tomorrow or after tomorrow. depends how dry the olive is because this is an X-tra enamel.
6 January 2013, 21:23
stefan natus
Missed this before,great progress.
7 January 2013, 10:58
Dirk Heyer
Hi Chris looks nice so far!
Are you satisfied with X-tra Colousr? I`ve tried this colours, but was not convinced of them.....too long for drying, intensive smell.....
Looking forward the finished Skyhawk!
Btw, do you know, the Argentinian pilots has their own name for the Skyhawk????
7 January 2013, 13:22
Christian Lehmann
Hi Dirk, when I build Luftwaffe aircraft X-tras are the only colors I use. The smell is no problem. It is the same as with the Revell or Humbrol colors I use.
7 January 2013, 13:36
Christian Lehmann
Last day of my vacation. The paint has been reworked and the yellow markings are on.
The target to finish the model withing my vacation could not be reached.

8 January 2013, 19:39
Christian Lehmann
Decals are applied. Hopefully I can finish it next weekend
15 January 2013, 21:58
Dirk Heyer
Hi Chris,
looks fine your model! The yellow colour is a fantastic contrast!
Fine job!
15 January 2013, 22:35
Christian Lehmann
Thanks Dirk. It looks a little bit strange at the moment because all colours are glossy and the reflections make me mad.
15 January 2013, 22:45
Philip De Keyser
Hi Christian, what a beautifull and colorfull bird, the yellow color looks great and is a great contrast, great job, looking forward to the end result,
Greetz Phil
16 January 2013, 07:45
Christian Lehmann
Some little progress this weekend. The paint job is nearly finished and it´s on it´s feet now. I hope to finish it within the next week ( will do some scratch build on the pylons, have to build a new blade antenna because the kit ones is to small). Final assembly has also to be done, wheel well covers, pylons, air refulling probe ).
20 January 2013, 18:24
Philip De Keyser
Looking forward to se the end result, what I see till now is fantastic Lemmy, a real top job 👍
20 January 2013, 19:23

Oh yeah, this is indeed a very colourful bird. Must be an very early version, isnt it? Ah, its an A-4B, now i spotted it😢!
22 January 2013, 12:05
Christian Lehmann
Can´t finish it. Found out that Airfix forgot to add all features of the "Omega" VHF navigation system. Have to order the parts from Frightdog models because I found no good pictures to scratch build them.
26 January 2013, 20:20
Aghis Barberopoulos
Unusual and colourful A-4. Very nice work on the weathering!
26 January 2013, 21:03
Christian Lehmann
@ Guido: I have to do it ( should be possible for an advanced modeller 😉). It will be one part on the rear lower fuselage and two parts on the fin + the blade antenna on the rear fuselage. I´ll try to fix it with cristal clear
@ Aghis: Thank´s mate
26 January 2013, 22:03
Dirk Heyer
Hi Christian,
what kind of nav. system do you mean on the rear lower fuselage?? I remember only a blade antenna behind the canopy and two arcuate antennas on both sides of the fin.
Greetz
Dirk
26 January 2013, 22:20
Christian Lehmann
Besides the two arc shaped antennas on the fin there is something rectangular shaped on the lower rear fuselage that shall be pat of the system. I could not find details
26 January 2013, 22:29
Christian Lehmann
You can also see it see on the foto in this article

26 January 2013, 22:31
Dirk Heyer
Aah ok! Can`t see this rectangular detail on the photos of Ede`s A-4! Mmmh, I`m curious if you find more details or historical facts! 🙂
26 January 2013, 22:35
Christian Lehmann
@ Dirk: It is also visible on this photo

26 January 2013, 22:53

Some pictures of the finished model added. They are a little bit bright. Have to wait for an oportunity to take some aditional at daylight.

Very nice work, Christian! Do the last few photos show the colours best?
5 March 2013, 18:04
stefan natus
Very nice build.
5 March 2013, 18:51
Christian Lehmann
Thank´s Stefan and Bill.
@Bill: Youré right. The photos from 26 to 31 show the colors best. Photos 19 to 25 have been taken by using two dalight bulbs because I took them at night. But they are to bright for my taste and do not show the colors very naturally.
5 March 2013, 19:20
Tim Vereecke
