Westland Wyvern S.4 build

Album image #1
The completed model. I followed the 4+ booklet on the type re paint, markings, weapons loadout and sensor fit.

There´s not that much to see later on from the nice camera. I made a mount for the tailwheel so I could attach it late in the project.

Even though I had the very full Trumpeter PE set, I opted to use the colour-printed Eduard PE for the interior.

I very much enjoyed preshading in this project.

Stynylrez primer adhered perfectly to the plastic and made masking (and de-masking!) hassle-free.

I opted to use the nice resin wheels by CMK.

Metal areas were painted with Alclad II.

The decals had become very brittle and disintegrated. I sprayed Microscale´s Liquid Decal Film to stabilize them, which luckily worked.

According to the 4+ booklet, the squadron mascot Flook was painted on the starboard side only.

The Wyvern was a singular machine with a determined look, and very british in all respects.

I limited wear and tear to the bare minimum due to the short service period of the type.

I really like the semi gloss sheen on the fuselage. As if hinting at painted metal.

Lovely result mate! This kit is on my mental to buy list, why that? Well, it's ugly with counter-rotating props in dark sea grey over sky and totally British, what's not to love with that combination!
