Thanx mates! @Mike, it is just a fake not speed😢 I only did some final work on both models the last days and made them ready to paint. Cheers, Christian

Hi Chris, immer wieder schön, bringst Du die kleinen Flieger am Mittwoch mit?

Thanx all for your kind comments! @Alex, I did not know at the moment, but I think VA-153 Blue Tail Flies aboard CVA43 USS Coral sea in their 1967 deployment.

I just decide to cut of the one piece canopy. That worked well using a small saw blade with my Proxxon. The front canopy only used a little sanding while I have to add a new frame to the canopy. I used 0.25mm plastic sheet, glued that in front of the canopy. Once dried I masked the canopy and sand carefully using different files and sanding paper. Last I glued the front canopy in place and a bit of filler to get a clean alignment between canopy and fuselage. When dry I sand the area carefully.

A first coat of white was applied to the lower surface and uppers side of the control surfaces as well as to the drop tanks. I used Vallejo and did not preshade anything because of the small scale. I will do this later by using washes and oil color. I got also the decals for my Slick ? thanx Frank ? to build this bird: [img1]

Long time on hold I went back to this tiny little bird. Masking the fragile kit was time consuming. I paint the upper surface with Vallejo Model Color no. 110. The color tone is tan but toned down with some white it comes really close to a faded light grey. The rest of a subtle weathering will be done when the color dried completely. First I paint the A-4F, next I will go on with the A-4E.

Cheers, Christian

Me too Guido🙂 But looking to my progress with scale 144 there are some things with the A4 I'm not much pleased about. For example the big gap between the elevators and rudder. Not possible to correct while fixed I try to conceal it with a subtle weathering.
Cheers, Christian

Yep even with the fuel tank the A4 is a real tailsitter. Same with my Tigercat, but in this scale it is no problem because I glue the tiny birds on their base.

Grobmotoriker - Gross motor skills for our English reading mates. Eh Mathias, the older the bigger the scale or stronger the binocular eyeglasses, but the stronger the magnification the more mistakes appear. Somewhat a catch-22 situation🙂
But thx for the thumb up my friend🙂
Cheers, Christian

I finally paint the A-4 E in its colors of VA-153 Blue Tail Flies aboard USS Coral Sea – Deployment 1968. The vertical fin was painted white first, than masked and painted blue. It is more common to me to paint than to use any decal for vertical fins.

Wonderful tiny Scooters Christian ! Admiration for your accuracy with these small scales, always an inspiration for me . My favourite is the one without the hump.
These kits seem to be of exceptional quality !
8 September 2015, 18:56
Christian Bruer
Thank you Hanno🙂 Mine too!

The E without the humb is a conversion for the Platz kit from Retro Wings. A new resin fuselage (one piece) some additional parts and a new seat are included. Casting is nice with fine panel lines. Fit is similar to the kit parts. And yes the Platz kits are really crisp and fine.

Cheers, Christian

Well it is something like base day. After working on the bases for my Sopwith Pub and Hellcat I need two more bases for my Scooters. To represent the rough surface of an aircraft carrier I scattered very fine sand on top of the surface covered in PVA glue. Uncertain how it will look when finished I start painting the base in white and dark blue grey. It looks quite nice so far but I guess washing and highlighting the surface will bring some more depth and live to the surface.

Cheers, Christian

Less time during the week but I managed to build a NC-8A mobile electrical power plant and a MD-3 tractor for use on my little Scooter dioramas. Some figures will be placed as well. The tiny Brengun kits are nicely detailed and a good match in any way to display next to a onefourfour aero plane.

Cheers, Christian

You make it sound all so simple and easy Christian, knocking out something for the dio in a week that I am sure would take me months, lol 🙂 👍

Thx Kerry and Guido.

It was Kerry🙂 The main carriage was a single resin piece, you only have to handle four wheels and a few PE parts for each tractor.

I cut of the whole surface of both displays I have made of fine sand to represent the rought surface of a carrier deck. The more I look to it the more I'm not confident with the result because it was much overdone for the scale. The new Brengun set – Deck Tie Downs – helped much to decide to cut of and rebuild the surface. Cutting of the sand was quite easy and after filling and sanding a few scratches I sketch the white markings and in an angle of approx. 20° the line of tie downs in a distance of about 20mm each. A hole 1,4mm in diameter was needed to glue the tie downs carefully in place to get it flat and smooth.
I start detail painting the tractors and made some progress with the center line bomb rack with a pack of six Mk. 82 bombs.

I build and paint the model for a few years ago, but left it so far. Now I come back to this and add a wash and weathering effects done with oils. Next, a coat of gloss varnish and the decals.

amazing detail for the scale, Christian, what have you used for the asphalt base on photo 17 and 18?
21 March 2019, 20:11
Christian Bruer
Thank you Cesar. I used fine sand you use for bird cages. You can buy it in pet shops, but you have to sieve it. All was scattered on a fine layer of PVA glue. It works well but it is better for scale 1/72 and larger.

Interessant auch die Beschreibung dieses Projektes:😉 🙂

Some more but slow progress, I opened the windows at the wheelhouse and I add a framework all around. The railing is now in place at the forward gun emplacement. I made a new part for the aft gun emplacement, because of a crude kit part. The WEM PE part is only for a extended gun emplacement that won't fit for Polyanthus. I also build two 20mm form MASTER and I start build the single 2pdr. Pompom.
