"DONE" Grunau 9 Glider - "Nürnberger Ei"

Album image #1

Album image #2
Same status as with my Grunau SG38 build. Need some Touch up and then ready for assembly and rigging.

Album image #3
From some remaining PE sheet I cutted the elbow fitting for the aileron.

Album image #4
Some stretched sprue is used for the wire.

Album image #5
Wire and fitting installed.

Album image #6
The wood effect on the "cabin" is giving me some hard times - I not sure how close to edges I can go with the decal stripes before I close the shell. I fear that the seam is very visible then,...

Album image #7
Preparing some "aid" material for the rigging - made from sprue.

Album image #8
Some additional material for rigging. Cutted and sanded from evergreen sheets.

Album image #9
All the wires are ready for the installation now.

Album image #10
Some final adjustments on the model are needed.

Album image #11
I insert some pieces of brass tube to simulate the mounting points espectively guide pulleys for all the wires for the control surfaces.

Album image #12
Sooo...rigging started.

Album image #13
I choose to start with rudder and elevator first. What can I say? PA clue was sticking on everything but the right ends of my wire - btw. the elevators broke loose twice,...But: finally - everything's fine 😉

Album image #14
Some more details on the wing...before we put them on.

Album image #15
Now with wings attached....

Album image #16
...and steering wires in place - lets go working on the "cockpit".

Album image #21
The "cabin" is finally finshed - I'am quite happy with the result.

Album image #22
Now the rigging of the wings start....I saw some pictures where the anchor of the wire and the turnbuckles near the the wingsurface is prodected with a kind of cover. Therefore you see this "V-shapes".

Album image #23
Riging of under wing went quite good.

Album image #24
Lowerside is done !

Album image #25
Only 4 wire to go,... but I gave up last night as - bad luck - I cutted a already installed wire per incident. Let's see how it will work out during the next session.

Album image #26
The last session was succesful 🙂 all wires installed finally.

Album image #27
I guess I can call this tinky glider "Done" now.

Album image #28
I will add some more pictures of this "Nürnberger Ei" soon when I have prepared my photocamera (with is slight better than my old mobilphone lense 😉)

Hi Robert - same story with this one as with the Sg38. Not many parts but still a tricky job. This one as a "Cockpit cabin" where I played alot (hours 🙂) with the wood effect... I hope it was worth it at the end...let's see.
thx for you interest.

Looks perfect, Juergen, absolutely. Rigging is exactly what I find beyond my patience (if not my skills) for the moment - but in case of these gliders rigging adds the final interest. Keep up good work, surely it is worth the effort 🙂

Welcome Alex and Skywalker. Here is a little up-date. Wires for the aileron movement are installed. I made some progress on the "cabin" too.

Who would say that there is so much to do with a simple glider's model...;) I am impressed with your work already.
