It's good time to slow down though, sometimes this is when inspiration flashes. As always, I will follow your creation and show them to people who loves scale models around me over here.

Nice model with a lot of bling. I only think that the boxes and the tarp are not convincing in this location.

Simon Nagorsnik
Thanks Michael!
I know what you mean, these are a consideration.
I want add a bit of individuality to the model, but i've to think about it again.

Top paint fading. Very convincing. I am sure that Mr. Cabrero is very honored by your build. The additional fuel tank adds a nice splash of color. I am keen on the display.
Did you use the hairspray-technique? With hairspray or any of the fancy new stuff? Did you paint the drive train after full assembly? I am usually too scared to do that as I am afraid I will mess everything up.

Already looks better than many 1:35 models, even before washes...
You probably used chipping fluid, right?
11 August 2022, 09:06
Chan Li
Mini art, you've already stepped into this level, I figure.

Simon Nagorsnik
Thanks for your great feedback and for your compliments, folks!

@Michael and Marius: Yes, i`ve used AK´s Heavy chipping and worn effects fluid.
Works very well.
To find the right measure on this scale is sometimes a bit difficult to achieve...

I built the tracks according to the instructions using the dummy.
Then I put the wheels on without gluing them together and glued the tracks ready.
Then I took the track segment off again to paint them.

@Chan: We`re all artist here 😁
I took a year and only did some theory in painting, the use of colors, on vehicles, figures, real and fantasy, comopsitions...
And you will also encounter a lot of our hobby during an art study.

Ah. Track assembly over a dummy. That eases matters considerably.

For sure, you still have to be careful 😉

Fantastic work man, great details, realistic weathering and overall very good integration in the diorama!
But I think your tank needs air support, I will be sending my Arab Migs your way...

Thank you for your comment and feedback Marius!
Your air support is of course welcome 😁

Great result 👍 Apart from the tank, those Paracel figures look really nice, also! How is the quality of those?
16 August 2022, 20:08
Simon Nagorsnik
Thanks Pepe and Tom!!
@Tom: These were a real joy! -If you can say that about figures 🤣
Yes, really, super quality.
Actually, these represent Vietnamese and they even have the corresponding facial features.

I tried to change that a bit by the painting.- Moustaches 🤣
16 August 2022, 20:27
Michael Kohl
So you already answered my question concerning the figures befor I even asked 😉. You successfully egyptianized them Vietnamese, I'd say.
Beautiful vignette.

A true masterpiece! Could you please describe your figure painting technique?

I just got an idea, why not use Egyptian flag for the plaque background color, like white red and black, yours already very similar to it.
30 August 2022, 16:47
Simon Nagorsnik
You're right again.
It often takes me longer to come up with a design, than the amount of work until it is printed out and glued on.

And yet you tell me things that are actually quite logical, but I just didn't think of it.

The next time I have to think too long, i will ask you immediately 😁

Album info

The Yom Kippur Veteran- Egyptian T-54

This vehicle dates from the period shortly after the conflict with Israel in 1973.
The showen model isn´t based on a specific reference but was rather inspired by the idea that in the wake of the war a tank was recovered and rebuilt from other wrecks and spare parts and reused for training purposes.

This theme includes both- facts and some fiction.

The whole thing wasn´t my own idea I have to admit.
I took Chema Cabrero's article from Vallejo's "Red Steel" publication, which I've taken over with only minor modifications.

As a base kit I used Ammo´s fabolous T-54 (A.MIG-8502).
In order to adapt it better to the reference, I used a PE deatil set from Part (P72-114), wheels from Armory (AC7285), a gun barrel from Aber (72L-45) and for further refinement a DShK machine gun also from Armory (AC7239).
The figures are from Paracel Miniatures (Mini 7201) and actually represent a Vietnamese tank crew, however, they fit perfectly for my theme, the rest had to be solved by the painting;).

The idea is to start with the standard egyptian 3tonal camo- sand, brown, green, overpainted by the new sand camo, showing it in a well worn look.
