This kit is like phucking a real tight virgin... It hurts but you wanna make it fit...🙁
28 May 2015, 06:45
Arne Greve
But it doesn´t looks like a virgin.... 😉
28 May 2015, 09:32
Holger Kranich
Ist nearly more an old fart...😢
28 May 2015, 09:53
Holger Kranich
The mayhem starts again this evening!😄 Thanks Mike but you dont should look closer...
28 May 2015, 11:13
Choppa Nutta
So battle has begun with a tight metaphor about virgins....
With much gnashing of teeth & chafing........ Like a soggy pearl.....
28 May 2015, 11:53
Arne Greve
You are a poet, Choppa. ;-D
28 May 2015, 12:28
Holger Kranich
I agree with Arne!
28 May 2015, 12:44
Steve Wilson
...
Confucius say " virginity just like balloon, one prick goes Pop!!! "...
28 May 2015, 12:46
Arne Greve
👍
28 May 2015, 13:24
Choppa Nutta
Vogan poetry I assume ? 😄
Anyhow you are to kind but I don't call them poems, I call them squeezings.... 😄
28 May 2015, 13:38
Vorya hidaryan
So far so good 👍
28 May 2015, 14:34
Mike Kryza
Aha!! -😉🙂
28 May 2015, 18:20
Stephan Ryll
42....?
Take a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster about the kit and go on😉
28 May 2015, 18:28
Christian Meyerhoff
28 May 2015, 19:30
Jonns Pfeiffenberger
😄 Bin gespannt, was du daraus machst!
28 May 2015, 20:46
Arne Greve
29 May 2015, 07:21
Jonns Pfeiffenberger
29 May 2015, 07:49
Arne Greve
;-D
29 May 2015, 08:07
Holger Kranich
29 May 2015, 09:20
Arne Greve
Wie? Was? Wo liegen keine Seiten- und Heckscheiben bei?? Beim Revell-Bausatz oder beim Umbausatz?
29 May 2015, 09:57
Holger Kranich
29 May 2015, 10:02
Arne Greve
29 May 2015, 11:39
Holger Kranich
29 May 2015, 11:46
Arne Greve
Muss an also auch in Eigenregie bauen.........
Waren die nur zum Tarnen? Was man so in 23 Jahren alles vergisst.
29 May 2015, 11:51
Holger Kranich
29 May 2015, 12:18
Choppa Nutta
I can see my "poetry" is wasted here ...........
29 May 2015, 13:06
Arne Greve
Because, you don´t understand, what we writing about, Choppa?
29 May 2015, 13:33
Choppa Nutta
exactly ! 😄
My German is largely inadequate, I catch bits here and there but not enough,
Anyhow, I was trying to be funny, I'll do better next time I promise 😄
29 May 2015, 13:40
Arne Greve
Holger and me talking about some plates on the windows of the Mediccompartment on the back of the Unimog. We both drove or saw this truck in our tour of duty as Medics at the German Army. I thought, the plates where for ABC-Cover (Chemical Warfare), but truely, they where for camouflage. I forgot this case in the last 23 years since my Armytime.
29 May 2015, 13:44
Choppa Nutta
sweet😉
29 May 2015, 13:51
Steve Wilson
...
@Arne... I do😢 been following the conversation to help improve my German. Although I'm not familiar with that particular kit you speak of, or the Revell kit Holly speaks of, I've never ever been a Revell Kit fan. The problems Holly speaks of extend over to my choice of build too. I am also not keen on their choice of Styrene, too soft! although someone told me it has improved somewhat recently. I do use their Contacta Glue and other such products though, which I like a lot...
29 May 2015, 13:52
Choppa Nutta
Revell have made some nice kits though, the new tool 1/32 Spit, their 1/32 Hawk I like, 1/72 B17 is quite good too etc. But yeah, there is some right dogs within there range 😄
29 May 2015, 13:56
Aghis Barberopoulos
I am here watching as well 🙂
29 May 2015, 14:53
Erwin BOVYN
I have that Revell Unimog kit in my stash but not the conversion set. I'll follow this one, maybe I can learn something here and there.
29 May 2015, 15:11
Holger Kranich
Welcome guys!

I added some new images to show the progress from yesterday evening. It is just a Bad kit but assembled, it looks not so bad🙂
30 May 2015, 06:30
Holger Kranich
Thanks Mike! When i mentioned all the issues, im glad for every further step! The basic construction is done, now i'm starting the cabin.
30 May 2015, 13:47
Choppa Nutta
doesn't it make painting harder by assembling so much in one go ?
30 May 2015, 14:33
Holger Kranich
Maybe but Most of all will never see light again😢
30 May 2015, 15:46
Holger Kranich
And everything is painted in one colour...
30 May 2015, 15:47
Choppa Nutta
true, but I always see it as a good chance to practice etc.
for some people it works really well, especially at cutting in two colours next to each other neatly etc.
For me i get tidier results painting everything separately, I'll often do a lot of painting on the sprue and do little touch ups during assembly.
But building lots in one go is quicker and I can see the appeal 🙂
30 May 2015, 15:59
Holger Kranich
Quick is good but in this case i was hurrying too much... Just broke the gearknob... Now i build it new from streched sprue and the muzzle of a MG 3.I hope it will convince!
30 May 2015, 17:37
Holger Kranich
Please dont be sad that i dont write much because i am online via my mobile and i hate this kind of typing...😢
30 May 2015, 17:39
Choppa Nutta
no worries 😉
30 May 2015, 18:58
George Bacon
Want to see this one!
31 May 2015, 16:55
Christian Bruer
According to your information it seems to me this is not snap together kit, but it comes out really nice so far. Looking forward to your progress on the cabin!
31 May 2015, 18:04
Choppa Nutta
Chassis looks detailed, shame to cover it up. have you added some scratch built parts, like the springs ?
10 June 2015, 18:12
Holger Kranich
Snap Fit? Oh no!😢
Thanks for the comments, guys!
I added some progress pix to show on what a "good" kit im working...
And i unfortunately have to repeat me... This is a creepy, nasty and phucked up kit... The only thing that fits are the sprues to the box... And crisp details have only the drawings in the instructions...

But i will not Quit!
I will Beat Revells attempts to drive me crazy and nuts!😢
And to be honest, the resin parts seem to be challeging as well...
10 June 2015, 18:13
Holger Kranich
Thank you guys for your couragement!
10 June 2015, 18:13
Christian Meyerhoff
So bi lütten ward dat wat ! Schön gemacht mein Gudster!😉
10 June 2015, 18:19
Holger Kranich
Dat is Pain in the ass model building and my frustration growes every Minute more, just as my will to get it straight!😄
10 June 2015, 18:52
Christian Meyerhoff
Ich hab Dir doch mal nen Vacu geschickt... Bau den mal ,dann wirst Deinen Unimog lieben...🙂
10 June 2015, 19:05
Holger Kranich
Ach das Ding ist also Deine Prüfung an mich? 😄
10 June 2015, 19:16
Christian Meyerhoff
🙂 Es würde mich schon interessieren was Du daraus machst. And BTW... Natürlich mag ich Dich !
10 June 2015, 19:18
Christian Mundt

10 June 2015, 21:18
Holger Kranich
Lol!🙂🙂😢
10 June 2015, 21:22
Holger Kranich
G´Day Mike!
"Fit" is a word i would not use in this case... The question is, how carefully i have to use a hammer...😢
11 June 2015, 06:29
Jonns Pfeiffenberger
The kit comes directly from a meltdown of 3 dying nuclear power plants...😉
11 June 2015, 06:48
Holger Kranich
You´ve got it, Jonns! This kit was molded by satan in the fires of hades to proove how motivation works with mortals... LOL 😄
11 June 2015, 06:51
Holger Kranich
Mike, when you´ve been nice and not a naughty Boy, you got sprues from a fresh mold!😢
11 June 2015, 08:04
Arne Greve
Holger, it isn´t a work of Satan. It is a examination of God. If you stand it, you can enter the next level of your unholy life!
11 June 2015, 08:04
Jonns Pfeiffenberger
Michael, you're a real tough guy! This can only make a man from down under!😉
11 June 2015, 08:06
Arne Greve
What is the brass thing on the dashboard on pic 17? I don´t remember that in my KrKw.
11 June 2015, 08:07
Steve Wilson
...
@Arne... It's a map reading light😉😭Y)
11 June 2015, 09:40
Arne Greve
Ah, ok. Thank you, Steve. But how I wrote: I don´t remember that thing
11 June 2015, 10:32
Steve Wilson
...
Personally, I think Holly scratchbuilt it, it's not part of the kit!!!
11 June 2015, 10:34
Arne Greve
It looks like.

@Holger
Was that map reading light in your KrKw?
11 June 2015, 10:57
Holger Kranich
To enlighten you guys, yes Steve is right. The twisted wire with the black tip is a scratch build map light. I remember it very well in my Unimog. I used it mostly at night on exercises to find my beer can in the dark cabin. The other brass Thing at the steering wheel is a cover to camoflage for the lights of the Dashboard while driving at night. I plan to add some pe harness and then Comes colour in the game...😢
11 June 2015, 11:47
Arne Greve
The cover over the Dashboardlights was blue plastic, I remember. On my Unimog, there was absolutly no alcohol, but a lot of chocolates bars and a cassette player for the music, mostly Springsteen.
11 June 2015, 12:15
Holger Kranich
My Unimog was never "real medical aid" only the vehicle, recruits trained on. Chocolate and Music was Standard!8)
11 June 2015, 12:30
Hunter Cummins
Hey Holger! Finally found the time to build something 😉 😛 I will follow this one closely
11 June 2015, 13:48
Holger Kranich
You are welcome, Hunter! And you are right, i found time to act at the bench, just a lovely Feeling! 🙂
11 June 2015, 13:59
Kerry COX
Listen to these tough old "Grunts". Chocolate indeed, and scented toilet rolls too.??? LOL 🙂
11 June 2015, 14:11
Holger Kranich
Haha Kerry...LOL😢
11 June 2015, 14:20
Arne Greve
@Kerry The Unimog was a good partner in cold, cold winter on the Harz Mountains. Maybe you know them, Kerry. ;-D They are full of fairytales.
11 June 2015, 14:26
Kerry COX
Full of trolls more likely, asking people on life's journey what their favourite colour is. Mwah ha ha ha ha 🙂

But yes, I do know the Unimog and it's ability to go anywhere in all conditions.:-8

A most versatile little beast.🙂

I am also wondering just how old this kit is, as there seems to be a LOT of dramas with it mate. !!! :-/
11 June 2015, 19:22
Holger Kranich
I dont know how old the kit is but i found a Swastika on the sprues...LOL😭😢
11 June 2015, 20:07
Erwin BOVYN
Can't really believe what I read here. Is this kit really that bad ???? It's thrue you don't see them often on tables and in contests but is this the kit's fault or lack of interest?
11 June 2015, 20:08
Kerry COX
That's the funniest thing I have seen here. LMFAO 👍 🙂
11 June 2015, 20:09
Holger Kranich
@ Kerry: lmfoa too!😢

@ Eric: there are sometimes subjects you really have an relationship to. You really want to make that model. You know the real thing and worked with it. You want to replicate it as it was because you love it!
Thats my approach with this unimog...
I lived in it for weeks and fell in love with it...
But now i Face the ugly truth with this kit...
Remember your worst kit and duplicate the Horror... Than you know how this build is. Nothing-really nothing fits or is delicate in detail...

Sorry to say this but its my personal "most hated kit"
11 June 2015, 20:22
Choppa Nutta
I can almost hear you thumping the table as you said it 🙂
But this where the skill kicks in, resolving all these things a lesser modeller might not be able to......

You been drinking Heineken ? 😄
11 June 2015, 20:25
Holger Kranich
Choppy, please allow me to say: there are no "lesser modelers". They are only Youngster or not so experianced...😢

And no, im drinking Jever not heineken but its a good brew!😄
11 June 2015, 20:32
Choppa Nutta
true 🙂
11 June 2015, 20:38
Holger Kranich
🙂
11 June 2015, 20:42
Clifford Keesler
Any German Beer is a good brew, I miss it.
11 June 2015, 21:42
Arne Greve
No, not any, Cliff. 🙁 There are a lot of beers, they are not good. Königspilsner, Köstritzer, Wilkenburger, THEY are good! But all other....no! ;-D
12 June 2015, 08:45
Mathias Carl
Holger:
From time to time i rattle with the trash can to show the kit that i´m seriously pissed off!😉
12 June 2015, 10:26
Choppa Nutta
Paint a Voodoo face on the trash can, that'll scare bad kits into behaving😉

..as for beers re. my gag on Heineken was supposed to reference that old advert about how it reaches parts others can't and thus allows you to overcome certain challenges, like a bad kit 🙂

Anyhow, it's probably even less funny now......
12 June 2015, 13:09
Christian Mundt
Hopefully Meng or Takom will bring on a new Unimog kit!
12 June 2015, 13:14
Kerry COX
Is the Revell any different Holger. ? :-/
12 June 2015, 13:18
Holger Kranich
What do you mean specificly, Kerry?

I agree, Christian!
12 June 2015, 13:33
Arne Greve
Holger, on Pic 19 the hood looks like it is damage. Is that a mistake of me, or is correct?
12 June 2015, 14:49
Jonns Pfeiffenberger
I do not know when I've ever used so much glue on a model 😉 Jetzt habe ich auch mal das Fahrwerk fertig...! Ich halte noch durch, Holger! 😄 [img1]

12 June 2015, 16:20
Arne Greve
Ist der scratchbuild?
12 June 2015, 17:27
Holger Kranich
Arne, the whole cab is twisted, warped and partly damaged. It came from the box in that condition. Im thinking of calling Abteilung X...
12 June 2015, 17:46
Holger Kranich
12 June 2015, 18:54
Jonns Pfeiffenberger
A Kleenex role directly under the table? Yeah, if you are always alone in modeling so long...😉 😄
12 June 2015, 19:12
Holger Kranich
Jonns you naughty...! Wait till we meet again! Lol!😄
12 June 2015, 19:30
Holger Kranich
And this role is Handy for PAINTjobs not HANDjobs...😢😢
12 June 2015, 19:31
Steve Wilson
...
Listen enough!!! that is Holly's toilet roll, we all now know his Modelling seat is his LOO!!!
12 June 2015, 20:20
Choppa Nutta

And if we zoom the camera back a bit and we can see Holly has catered for every contingency and convenience.......... 😄

12 June 2015, 20:47
Arne Greve
ROFL😄 😄 😄
15 June 2015, 08:11
Arne Greve
It is really dark green.
24 June 2015, 12:31
Thomas Kerl
24 June 2015, 12:50
Jonns Pfeiffenberger
also das du da ein UFO what-if baust, kam mir gar nicht in den Sinn! Klasse!
24 June 2015, 15:05
Mike Kryza
Tja - unser Holly ist die reinste Wundertüte...😉
24 June 2015, 19:18
Holger Kranich
@Thomas: Yep, seems as Revell has some serious problems with the cabindoor...

@ all: I plan to leave the doors open, i´m not in the mood for sanding.... My girl is here and i have a lot more things to do than filling & sanding!😢
26 June 2015, 07:27
Holger Kranich
Btw, i can recommend the "Bronzegrün" Revell acrylicpaint! The colourtone is really good and diluted with some water its some nice paint to work with!
26 June 2015, 07:29
uncle chop chop
Holger whats that contraption top left of ur extra thin glue.
5 August 2015, 10:17
Steve Wilson
...
Hi Unk... That is a Photo-etch bender!!! Cost is about £50, but once you've spent it and used it, you won't regret getting it😢😢😢
5 August 2015, 10:36
uncle chop chop
Oh ok no worries sounds good not what i thort it was
5 August 2015, 10:40
Holger Kranich
Oh yes, that bending tool is a wonderful thing! I would rather give a ball then give that tool away😄
5 August 2015, 11:13
Arne Greve
Hello Holger, whats about the KrKw?
5 August 2015, 12:31
Holger Kranich
I´m still waiting for a decalsheet (or better a new kit from a manufracturer😠) to proceed the build. But ist still on my production line/bench!
5 August 2015, 12:35
Arne Greve
For what you are waiting? For white circle and red crosses??
5 August 2015, 13:17
Holger Kranich
Nope, Arne, stencils and additional tactical insignia. I Need something very uncommon and thats not provided in the Sheets, i have.
5 August 2015, 13:22
Arne Greve
Ah ok. If I build my kit, I want to build the same vehicle, I drove during my duty. So I need the license plate of "my" truck. How can I do this?
5 August 2015, 13:48
Holger Kranich
You mean the "Kennzeichen"?
5 August 2015, 13:56
Arne Greve
Genau. Das ist ja fein!
5 August 2015, 14:01
Holger Kranich
KrKW rulez!🙂
5 August 2015, 14:09
uncle chop chop
Where abouts do i start looking for one of them holdger?
5 August 2015, 22:25
Mike Kryza
Gibt es die Firma überhaupt noch?
6 August 2015, 04:35
Holger Kranich
Wen meinst Du Mike? TL-Modellbau?
6 August 2015, 06:57
Arne Greve
6 August 2015, 08:00
Holger Kranich
772 kommt auch hin. Bei mir war es Y-591640.
6 August 2015, 08:06
Arne Greve
