Some cockpit pix are added. I recommend everyone to try a dry brush with white enamels. In this case i used Revell 5. I think the result is speaking for itself...
15 December 2011, 09:37
Zimmermaniac
looks nice already
15 December 2011, 09:42
Holger Kranich
Its already not finished but i´m on my way!
15 December 2011, 09:47
Holger Kranich
Some "framework " is done... 🙂

THX Guido!

Wilfried Bogaerts
'd mornin' Holger !
19 December 2011, 09:33
Wilfried Bogaerts
I'm very curious about the Wangerooge logo. Is it the stylished "a" or the "o" with the sunrays ? Are you going to print it with an ink-jet printer ? What decal paper are you going to use ?
19 December 2011, 09:34
Holger Kranich
Mornin too, Wilfried! You know the Wangerooge logo? I´m surprised! 🙂 I´m going to make the whole word wangerooge with the A as a wave and the O as the sun. I dont know the brand of the decalpaper but its with a clear film. As printer, i use a laserprinter. The decalpaper is especially for this kind of printers. I buyed a bottle of "liquid decal" from Microscale to save the colour after printig. Thats a nice stuff. Even very old decals are ready for use after applying the stuff!
19 December 2011, 10:04
Holger Kranich
After lunch, i can give you the name of the brand of the used decalpaper.
19 December 2011, 10:05
Wilfried Bogaerts
Thx Holger ! Oh my, I can see another project at the horizon, and my project-agenda is already filled to the rim 🙁
19 December 2011, 10:12
Wilfried Bogaerts
Can you ride (rent) a horse in Wangerooge ?
19 December 2011, 10:13
Holger Kranich
Thanks Guido, yes this stuff is amazing! And "Wangerooge" in english makes really no sense🙂 🙂!

Wilfried, i forgot to say that there is special decalpaper even for ink-printers. And yes, you can ride here, not only horses🙂
especially for familys its perfect here. You dont need to look after the children cause they cant get away. And they can play at the beach, in the dunes, in the mudflats, nearly everywhere.
19 December 2011, 10:20
Wilfried Bogaerts
Great! My dear wife always looks for holiday destinations where she can ride horses and she likes the Wadden-eilanden so this is a perfect combo!. We have no children (2 cats and 1 horse, they're our children ..)
19 December 2011, 11:09
Holger Kranich
Cats and horses are not a problem, here! If you need an accomodation, i can help you, i fortunately work at the touristinfo. Would you like to have a prospect? But its just in german...
19 December 2011, 12:03
Holger Kranich
Zimmermaniac is interested, too! Would be great to have you all here!🙂
19 December 2011, 12:04
Wilfried Bogaerts
That would be nice, can I download it somewhere ? We would not bring our cats and horse as they need a holiday as well (I always bulley them 🙂 )
19 December 2011, 12:09
Holger Kranich
Hihi, a download is not possible but i can send you one or you may have a look here: westturm.de/
19 December 2011, 12:11
Zimmermaniac
Holger, with just that little more promotion, you'll get the entire scalemates community overthere 🙂🙂
19 December 2011, 15:47
Zimmermaniac
ontopic, Tornado looks great so far, anxious for progression pics
19 December 2011, 15:48
Holger Kranich
Haha, yes, scalemates union at Wooge! Nice thought! This evening, i´m going to begin with the paintjob, will see how it works...🙂
19 December 2011, 15:55
Holger Kranich
Ok, i had no time for the paintjob, yesterday and my progress is not in time. But i dare to say that i take my time and here are some new pix! 🙂
21 December 2011, 08:26
Holger Kranich
Some sanding is now to do , painting the figures and masking the canopy. Dammit, i need more time!
21 December 2011, 08:40
Holger Kranich
Seems that you´re one of the more relaxed people. Normally i´m in the same mood but i have so much on my to-do-list and that makes pressure on me!😢
21 December 2011, 09:43
Zimmermaniac
Under pressure..🙂🙂 awfull song- awfull band - f..ing eighties
22 December 2011, 15:35
Holger Kranich
Zimmi, i totally agree!
22 December 2011, 15:44
Holger Kranich
Here is my attempt in painting figures in 1:72... They are not finished at all but i like the qaulity of this PJ-Production-figures! Try them, they are very nice detailed...😢
29 December 2011, 11:41
Holger Kranich
Thanks Guido, its a difficult work but the result is what counts!😉 The Revellfigures are nice but not that good as this ones😢
29 December 2011, 11:49
Holger Kranich
Yes, thats the best you can do, Guido!😉😉
30 December 2011, 17:50
Holger Kranich
In the next days, i´m ready to start the paintjob!
2 January 2012, 08:15
Holger Kranich
I think i´ll need some glasses after painting them...
2 January 2012, 12:02
Aghis Barberopoulos
I see some nice surface detail on this kit.
2 January 2012, 17:28
stefan natus
Nice pilots,and pit.
2 January 2012, 17:44
Burkhard D
Hmm...now I'm curious about that He177 visible in the background on the last two images 🙂
2 January 2012, 20:09
babak chalangi
very nice progress holger looking forward for some more !
2 January 2012, 20:15
Aghis Barberopoulos
I just saw it, a sneaky Heinkel in the background ?!
2 January 2012, 20:36
Wilfried Bogaerts
great looking pilots Holger, and they will be very visible in the Tor-office so no lost work
2 January 2012, 20:38
bob the builder
Holger looking great, nice pilots too
3 January 2012, 05:58
Holger Kranich
Thank you guys, what a push for my motivation!About the He-177, i had to do some maintenance-work because my son got his hands on it and swooosh, all the mashineguns where away...
The pilots where easyer to paint, then i thought! Some spraying, some drybrush and after a small wash, they where good to go, äh, fly!
3 January 2012, 07:40
Zimmermaniac
show us some pics of the He 177 please, I'm curious, got this one on the shelf too
3 January 2012, 12:37
Holger Kranich
Hi Zimmi, i´m a little bit shy to show the He-177 A6, because its my very first model, i used a airbrush on. Its not bad but can never compete with the models shown here!
3 January 2012, 12:58
Burkhard D
Why, looks good from the distance. I'll take a few shots of the 'survivors' of my early 1980s pre-airbrush works and put up an album 🙂
3 January 2012, 13:40
Wilfried Bogaerts
Please show it Holger, don't be shy. I promise I will upload some pictures of my Hs129 in North African colours by the end of this week. This was my first airbrush experiment, compared to this your "Luftwaffenfeuerzeug" will be a masterpiece! The airbrushing was good but I made a mess of the colours...
3 January 2012, 13:47
Holger Kranich
Ok, dear fellow modelers, in the next days i´ll present you my 177. But be advised, i took the wrong coloures for that babe. I used RLM 02 and RLM 71 for the camo but when i´m right it had to be 70 & 71...😉
3 January 2012, 13:55
Wilfried Bogaerts
Post the pics in Black & White... this will solve the colour problem and adds some interest 😉
3 January 2012, 13:57
Holger Kranich
Haha, good idea! Maybe i should always do it in this manner!😢
3 January 2012, 14:05
Holger Kranich
Good idea, too! 🙂
Or i take the pix in darkness and tell you its a nightattack-aircraft!
3 January 2012, 14:17
Holger Kranich
The Heinkel-pix are added in a new Album!
4 January 2012, 08:21
Wilfried Bogaerts
and I'm glad you did! The He177 is an impressive aircraft and is not much seen on contest tables 🙁
4 January 2012, 08:24
Holger Kranich
Indeed, Wilfried! And i think its a very beautiful aircraft!
4 January 2012, 08:30
Holger Kranich
Hi Michael, the riveting comes with the kit, its fabulous and the fit, too!
4 January 2012, 08:55
Holger Kranich
Till weekend i´ll like to finish the preshading!
4 January 2012, 09:07
Holger Kranich
Preshading is done but a lil bit prominent. I think thats will change after the paintjob...😉
9 January 2012, 08:12
Holger Kranich
Well i hope so, Michael!😢 Today i´m gonna try to add some paint!
9 January 2012, 09:12
Wilfried Bogaerts
Hi Holger, first project of 2012 gets along well! I especially like the huge air intake 😉 Good luck with the paint job, can't wait to see the homemade tail decals...
9 January 2012, 11:30
Holger Kranich
Hi Wilfried! I´m looking forward to make and apply the decals, too! And by the way, its not the airintake, its the cannonmuzzle!😉😢😢
9 January 2012, 12:08
Holger Kranich
Paintjob is mainly done. Just a few corrections and the decaling can start! I´m not totally satisfied how the preshading comes along, but after the washing it should look fine, i think. I used Tamiya´s "Neutral Grey (XF-22?)" with a little highlighting. The nose got Tamiya "Flat Black" (XF-1).
10 January 2012, 08:50
Holger Kranich
Hello Michael! Thanks for your comment!😢 Slowly all comes together... 🙂
10 January 2012, 09:09
Holger Kranich
I applied a coat of future now and its time to make some custom-decals! I added some pix of the stuff i´m using and the instructions for everyone interested. The decalsheet is pretty thick and i hope my printer will "swallow" it! 🙂
10 January 2012, 12:17
Holger Kranich
Last pic showes the result of my "Office-Made" decals. I like the result very much and when i´m home, i immediately apply them! I´m gonna tell you how it worked and looks like! Ah, i´m sooo happy!😢
10 January 2012, 12:52
Wilfried Bogaerts
Thx for the info on the blanc decal sheets Holger! Surely a very unique Tornado on your desk. Must come and see this one with my own eyes... 😉
I like it allready
10 January 2012, 13:02
Holger Kranich
Hi Wilfried! Yes come over and have a look😢! I had a lil struggle with the sheet, cause its not DIN A4. The size is called LTR. I never heard about that. But at the end, everything works good and i´m glad to hold my very first custommade-decals in my hands😢
10 January 2012, 13:12
Zimmermaniac
woow looks good, if I ever want custom made decals I'll cal ya 🙂
10 January 2012, 13:22
Holger Kranich
Hey Zimmi, yes i´m even able to make decals from the image of your a..😢 Feel free to call me🙂!
10 January 2012, 13:26
Holger Kranich
Me too, Guido! At 17:00 i stop working and at 17:15 it will be attached😢!
10 January 2012, 14:30
Wilfried Bogaerts
and at 17:30 the first pics will appear on Scalemates ... 😉
10 January 2012, 14:42
Holger Kranich
I hope so! Unfortunately i have temporarily no net at home, so i try to load up the images per iphone.
10 January 2012, 15:06
Holger Kranich
I'm in the middle of a hard fight with the decals. Its very important to first print the decals, then apply the microscale stuff and when it is dry, THEN Cut the decal from the sheet!!! If you do not, its possible to rip the decals apart! And have a huge amount of decalfluid handy to have a proper result!
10 January 2012, 20:39
Holger Kranich
Pix will follow!😢
10 January 2012, 20:45
Aghis Barberopoulos
Good Luck! Do not drink before you finish😉
10 January 2012, 20:57
Holger Kranich
Absolutely! I have to stay focussed on this work! But when i finish i do get me a plomari!😢
10 January 2012, 21:44
Holger Kranich
Yesterday, i finished this project and i´m pleased with the result. If you like to take a look, i created a new album wit a lot of pix. I think it was worth the work... 😉 Panavia Tornado IDS "Wangerooge Logo" | Album by Booze

Great waethering Holger, that's the way I like them, great result, greetings Phil
17 January 2012, 17:32

Hey guys, thanks for your kind comments! I´m too, satisfied with the weathering! I hope i can hold and carry out that standard...😉

Holger Kranich
Thank you, Michael!🙂

6 February 2012, 12:45
Malte D
Das mache ich! Danke!

Revell Tornado in 72 scale is the best model kit, excellent details, good fittings & nice decals. I wish to released that in RAF Desert Storm.
