This will be interesting and something new for me: GPM's hangar is quite nice! I will build two of them in 1:48 and one in 1:72.

Who moved out of the house so that you have the needed space?

Following very interested as I am thinking of getting one too.

Michael, I'm glad you're interested! Well, the model building room was a clever plan even before we started building the house... 🙂

With the grey - a mixed lacquer colour - it looks a little sadder, but I'm looking forward to the concrete floor and the inside of the ceiling; these will be the next steps.

This looks interesting.
Are you intending it as a diorama or will you be using the hangar to photograph future builds.

Looking forward to see more.

Thank you for interest and words! Today I started "concreting" the floor.

What materials is the hangar made of? You brush paint?

Michael, the material is a firm and very dense cardboard, almost looks like a wood-based material at first glance. I actually painted it with a brush, my idea is that it could be metal with a coat of paint. For the next hangar, however, I would like to try out painting the cut-out parts in the frame with a paint roller before assembling, and only paint the narrow sides with a brush.

I show a few current pictures of the hangar construction site: the floor is laid out with printed copies of a concreted flight apron, the next step is now to put on the inner surfaces of the roof.

Gorby, I intend to use this hangar mainly as a photo background. ---And who knows, maybe this bulky thing will accompany me to one or the other exhibition to serve as a presentation surface for models?

The next construction steps spoil the beauty of the lattice construction, but they are necessary: You can see the inside of the hangar here. This consists of a PC-modified "concrete" surface - the one you see on the apron - which has been lightened considerably and printed on simple printer paper. So you can see a few structures and dirt without drawing too much attention to yourself.
The next step will complete the construction: the side walls are still waiting to be applied.

Looking good. I think I will get one or two in scale 1:72 too. Your experiences with the build are highly appreciated. I consider to cut off about a quarter of the hangar, so that you can look inside from the side too. I will inform you in time whether this is a cool or a rather ridiculous idea. 😉

The rear window panel: was it delivered with the "glass" parts already cut out, or did you have to cut them out yourself?

With a closed roof, you should install some beautiful LED ceiling lights.

Nice plans and good suggestions - I'm curious!
The pictures show the condition of today: the actual hangar is finished, but the construction itself is not finished yet: I'm just trying out with test pieces how I can breathe a little life into the outer skin with discreet dirt and "wear and tear".

Michael, the window glazing is included, the multi-piece frame is glued onto the piece of clear film cut to size and applied in this way. I improvised another frame on the inside.

Yes, Michael, definitely a fun build!
The fun went a bit further for me:
I tried my hand at making films as a gimmick - although it's already clear that I'm probably not a Steven Spielberg! 🙂
But it was fun, I was able to learn a little about film editing- and it was a nice, inspiring change.
In a second video, which I plan to publish in a few days, I will take a closer look at the inside of the hangar.

So, I hope for a gracious premiere audience of this cinematic milestone!

Like it. It is a great backdrop for build planes. Are you going to weather the outside? I like your extended apron too.

Thank you Michael!
I have already applied all the dirt/weathering that I want on it. I used pastel chalk, which was applied very carefully.

The second film on GPM's hangar shows the inside. If you enjoy watching it half as much as I enjoyed making it, it's good 🙂
