I have added a new gallery for the "Gate Guard" version of the Tunnan. The pictures show the first steps towards a properly weathered machine that should look as if it has been in open space for years.
The decals were treated with 2000er sandpaper, now with dry- as with the air brush applied dirt and weather traces will follow.

Looks convincing! Curious what it will look like when finished.

Thank you guys! A few applications of Alclad have faded the Austrian roundels further. Pics will follow soon

I would like to show you a few pictures of the "gate guard Tunnan under de-construction" 🙂
I have sprayed layer of Alclad Dull Aluminum over the surfaces, after the have been coated with liquid masking agent. That was rubbed off after drying and that´s the result.
Now is time for some dry-brushed tear and wear!

Beautiful! Ugly but beautiful! 😉

Seriously good stuff!! Is this a particular Austrian Tunnan? I remember one at Schwechat airport ages ago, but I guess this is a different plane...

Toll Roland! Genau das richtige Objekt um etwas Alterungstechniken zu üben und zu probieren

Many thanks for your words, Slavo and Christian! Indeed, this one depicts J29F 29443 from the 1. Staffel of the Jabobgeschwader in Hörsching by Linz. Today this one is actually is a gate guard at at its former location. Danke Christian! Das freut mich!

If I could only get one! Or three.... 🙂 But it seems rather unrealistic, its a pity!

Maybe check out the Airpower 2019 - there were some sort-of OK model shops there last time in 2016 and one may pop-up there with some luck...

Great looking Tunnan Roland!

That is an interesting idea, Slavo. I will be present- and check this.
Thank you, Slavo and Dieter!

Did I get something wrong with that point "masking the canopy"? ????
No, I hope! The first picture shows the preparations to make the windows a little cloudy: diluted light brown colour was applied with an airbrush to the classic parts.
The surfaces of the "gate guard" Tunnan are now ready for my taste. Now only the diorama has to grow!

That came out great!....Euh.....rather nasty.... 😉

This one is just great! I love the weathering you've done on it. It really looks to have been sat outside for quite some time. 👍 👍

Patrick and Björn, thank you for your kind comments! I hope I stopped in time, "weathering" can become a real self runner 🙂

I absolutely expect that since the model is representing a gate guard, you will re-visit it at least 2 times a year and keep adding continuous weathering depending to the real condition on the spot😉

🙂 Yesterday I visited a show over here and it showed that weathering can be overdone in the blink of an eye. You restrained yourself really well. 👍

Splendid Idea Slavo! Patrick, I know what you are talking about!

Now this project is finally done! The last of the three Tunnan has got to it´s destination.
The diorama is more of a side issue- moreover: somewhere a gate guard machine has to be, doesn't it? 🙂
I'm really happy to have produced a satisfactory result for all three of them. Thank you for your interest and inspiring comments, guys!

This is a seriously great finish. The weathering is so spot on as it only could ever get - no flying/fluids/lubricant traces, but years spent in the sun & rain outside... (I've seen "outdoor" Tunnans, and this is it! ) You put the vision into the model and finish in a truly superb way! Enjoy the result, it's a real gem! 👍 I am going to give the weather-aged aluminum and sun-tortured canopy yet another look now, it's that good 🙂

Wow Roland, expert weathering ! Superrealistic depiction of this weatherbeaten nmf bird ! Extra credits for the disrespectful „Dackel" ! 🙂
