Here are the first pictures to the Seirans cockpit; I added some etched parts from an early Eduard detail set, adapted spare etched parts respectively. The kit is a pure dream to build, best fitting of parts and so on....
I will use a vacuformed canopie which allows the parts to be shown open.

My favourite WW2 Japanese airplane! A beautiful start, Roland! I look forward to seeing more. 🙂

Hello Xenia, nice to hear that! It will have to share workbench place- and time with another Japanese "one way mission" plane, but it´s seems to be a rather quick build...

Roland, this is exquisite modelling! I have this kit in 1:72, but it will be difficult to match this level of detail. I had the opportunity to see the sole remaining example of this type, but since its on its floats you can't see into the cockpit. You really can only see the underside, or the top when you're on the 2nd level catwalk. It's in the Udvar-Hazy museum near D.C. It took over ten years to restore, according to the guide.

Hello Bill, thank you for the comment! If I ever make it to the US, the National Air and Space Museum will be a must-see.
The M6A1-K Nanzan from Tamiya would be a smart companion too this project; I guess the Seirans 1:72 version is of usual comfortable Tamiya quality?

Bill Gilman
Yes, it looks very nice. I don't build a lot of Tamiya kits, but it seems much like the others that I have.

I am using Sqadrons deep drawn cockpit for the sliding parts of the Seirans cockpit; so I had to saw Tamiyas original injected hood to gain the fixed parts.
These parts have been glued to the fuselage, that is what you can see on the pictures.
Now there is some filling and decent sanding to do...

Have added new pictures with the decals applied, the model is now awaiting the sealing gloss-clear spraying session.
On the right wings leading edge you may notice the marks of my attempt to apply Tamiyas decals for the orange leading edge marking. I was not able to get them around the bend without breaking them in dozens of splinters, even with softening agent, so I had to remove the remains. In the meantime I got them sprayed on.

Thank you Larry, thank you Bill for that glanze on aircrafts enthusiast Eldorado...

@Roland: Ich wollte ja auch nur sagen das mir Deine Modelle besonders gut gefallen. Das hast Du wirklich gut drauf mein Gudster! 🙂

Hello all! Many thanks for your words- The Aichi Seiran is nearing completion, the gloss of the surfaces has been graded down and the floats, upgraded with some etched parts, have been fixed.
Only some finishing touches have to be done, now is time to get the trolly in shape in colour...

Hey, thank you! Just glued the trolly- a lot of masking has to be done!

Es-haq Khosravi
Excellent job! But masking for what?! If it was me, I would consider it as super finished!😉
8 October 2013, 16:40
Roland Sachsenhofer
Hello Es-haq, what I did mean was masking the trolly... I think I will make some pictures of that construction to illustrate the matter.
Greetings to Iran!

Had the pleasure to meet Roland at the show in Austria. He is a really fine chap, was a pleasure to talk to you, Roland! 🙂

Roland Sachsenhofer
Thomas, it was a pleasure to me!
A6M2 Seirans completion missed the Euro-Modell 2013 for a few days... but now it´s done. The transport cart is a complex little modell for itself, worth a few sessions of painting.
Altough Aichis "Seiran" may not be one of the important seaplanes of WWII, it surely is one of the more spectacular- and Tamiya has made a beautiful kit out of that construction.
