The Lancastrian now has a first coat of Alclad metal paint; more will follow. Somehow I have to get rid of the bright lustre of the panel lines, which are still too deep.

Roland Sachsenhofer I was so annoyed by this bright flickering in the panel lines (which are still too deep anyway) that I have now filled everything in. With the expected drying shrinkage of the filler, the indentations will continue to show - but no longer so disturbing. Now you can see the levelled surface sanded down, ready to receive the new Alclad layers!
Roland Sachsenhofer Thank you very much, mates! I am delighted that you have dug up this "oldie". When I see it freshly unearthed, I'm surprised once again at how unusual this construction was!
Roland Sachsenhofer The work on the two helicopters is now far enough advanced that Mi-6 and Mi-22 start to differ; therefore I begin here the Mi-22 construction gallery. You can see that it lags slightly behind the Mi-6: the nose and tail sections are already joined, but not yet trimmed. What shines like a gel is hardened cyanoacrylate glue, which I use as a filler. There is hardly any other way of overcoming or holding these gaps together. What's more, it can be smoothed out beautifully!
Roland Sachsenhofer Here are also a few new pictures of the pre-shading; it is not without reason that they are similar to those of the Mi-6. I make sure that both grow at the same rate.
Rogerio Marczak Hi Roland. Excellent job on a massive kit. I have the same kit, and you mentioned elsewhere that a company is now producing replacement clear parts for the turrets. Would you mind sharing which company? I think I cannot live with those seams... Thank you, and congratulations.

I just have one technical comment, especially if you want to build Z-37 from Eduard.
All Bumblebees Z-37 or even Z-137 had a front transparent part of the cockpit made of a single piece of bent Plexiglass. There was no paint at the bend between the front rectangular section and the side triangular sections. Behind the clear Plexiglas, the tubes that supported the cockpit roof were visible and were the color of the interior. Even the masks from Eduard are wrong and can be misinterpreted that in bending you need to paint the column in the livery color. Try to find more photos. And fingers crossed with the other builds. It's a pleasure to watch all your threads and topics. 👍

Roland Sachsenhofer Quinto Studio has a certain reputation for not only having invented 3D decals, but also for still making the best ones today. In this respect, I was curious when I had the opportunity to use a full set of them in the cockpit of the Nasa F-18 for the first time. I would like to show you a few pictures here.

Roland Sachsenhofer Thank you very much! I can't remember exactly, but there are really only two possibilities: either a piece of painted Tamiya masking tape - which I like to do - or a thin metal foil, like you find as a seal on champagne bottles and the like. (Not that I always have a champagne bottle at the ready in the modelling workshop... ! 🙂
Jörg Schäfer This ball tower is wonderful. It would also fit very well in my Death Star diorama. 😋
You are right, some sub-assemblies are worth not simply being installed.

Kenneth Very impressive 👍 I like your „clean" and simple building and painting style, which in my opinion results in more realistic models than those which have had dozen of layers of paint, floor polish and hair spray and much more thrown at them…!

Roland Sachsenhofer This is the second of three: not easy to paint and not entirely problem-free if the cockpit is to be shown closed - here it has to be adjusted, sanded and filled - the kit is nevertheless a great pleasure and a good example of how a contemporary, yet straightforward kit layout can please the modeller.

Roland Sachsenhofer Thank you both very much!DThe The metal surfaces were applied in a few spray passes with different metal colours from Alclad. The main colours used were "White Aluminum", "Aluminum", "Dark Aluminum" and "Polished Aluminum" as well as "High Speed Aluminum". Lots of aluminium, it seems! 🙂
Thomas, thank you for your words - I am very interested in civil space travel, but it was the models from "Horizon Models" that made me decide to build a few models.
Thomas, danke für Deine Worte- ich bin zwar an der zivilen Raumfahrt sehr interessiert, trotzdem haben mich erst die Modelle von "Horizon Models" dazu gebracht, auch ein paar Modelle dazu zu bauen.
