Thank you Carlos. The figure is part of the DOLP set I used, but I ended up only using the head and arms from the set, as I didn't like the high-visibility jacket that the original figure had. I replaced the torso and legs with those from a MiniArt figure I had in the stash. I like this better.

I was staring at it for a bit trying to decide if I wanted to attempt to describe the panel lines... I left the debate undecided, but leaning towards leaving it be. That was the first thing I checked on yours... seems like a good choice.

If I were to build an other one, I would also leave the panel lines as is. Especially with the foiling. It is nice to have some handrails for applying the foil, but the rescrebing was a bit of a waste of time I think as it's not that visible anyway. If I had just used pieces of foil the size of the different panels I would have achieved more or less the same result.

Thank you very much Jan! Glad you like it. I used 3D printed parts to make the conversion. The parts I printed were for the nose and pylons. The other parts were taken from the kit. The rear seat was deleted with some scratchbuilding. I designed the decals myself, and these were printed for me. I can't find any pictures of the conversion anymore unfortunately, but if I can help you in any way just let me know!

I would go with Gelboliv myself. But I'm not read up on Dutch Army color schemes. Perhaps we have some Dutch Army veterans here who were around before the NATO tri color camo came along.

The one I saw in the Soesterberg museum last year looked a tad more lighter and browner than Gelboliv. But as it was restored you can't be sure. Maybe RAL 7013 might comeclose, that's the Austrian Bundesheer colour.

Thank you once again! I find myself starting to have an interest in airliners too lately. I've been looking hard for a 1/144 747-400 for years now, and I think I have finally found one. A shame those kits are so rare indeed. I actually got incredibly lucky with this one. I got it from a friend who wanted to throw the kit in the trash!

The limit to using a 3D printer for modelling is your design skills. Something like this model is about as difficult as I can manage, but you keep learning. A year ago I would never have been able to design something like this. I am thinking of going serious with the 3D printing part, and upgrade to a bigger printer. That would remove the size constraint I currently have. I certainly have plans for more conversions, but not much on this big of a scale. Some YPR-765 conversions, a Tpz Fuchs and a couple of DAF trucks for a friend. Lots of drawing to do in the near future!

This is my attempt at a Cougar in 1:48 scale. The model is my first dive into 3D printed models, and after a lot of work and frustration it is finished to a decent result. Many lessons were learned, and I can tell you that plastic injection kits are here to stay. 3D printing is nice, but you can't beat a good plastic injection kit!

Wat die decals betreft, ik heb echt geen flauw idee. Je zou Luuk Boerman (Dutch Decal) kunnen proberen, ik heb het hem een poos geleden gevraagd en hij zij toen dat een 1:48 Chinook set er wel een keer gaat komen. De decals uit die oude Italeri ga je nergens meer vinden vrees ik...

Haha, heb precies hetzelfde contact gehad! (maar eerlijk: het gaat altijd nogal traag bij DD). Ideaal zou een sheetje zijn, maar dan moet er iemand zijn die extreem goed met photoshop is. Ik ben toevallig bezig met een Deense Lynx MK.90 (1:35) en heb via een Deense bouwer een PDF gekregen met alle decals die hij zelf heeft gemaakt vanaf foto's. Zal wel een megaklus zijn geweest, maar dat is natuurlijk perfect!
Wil uiteraard ook de nieuwe toned-down roundels, die bestaan vooralsnog niet... Hopen da Luuk ze snel op de markt brengt! (Let wel op: die nieuwe uitgave van Italeri heeft alleen de stompe neus, ik heb er eentje opgestuurd gekregen vd customer service: shop.italeri.com)

Ja, de neus van alle Nederlandse Chinook's is het radarmodel. Helaas heeft Italeri dit onderdeel niet meer en is het dus niet meer te krijgen.

How did you get the tank to tilt? Is it as simple as removing the small piece of plastic on most of the wheels?
Can it be tilted the other way, or must the wheels be glued in place?

The suspension arms have locator tabs on them, if you remove these you can freely move the suspension. There is enough friction to keep them in place, so glueing isn't necessary. I added a connection between the arms on both sides to make them move synchronised. So yeah, it moves freely and can be positioned freely.

Thanks Lukasz. I tried with the correct colours but I didn't like the way that looked. That's why I decided to go for these black and yellow props. I made my own set of Propblur photo etch propellers using clear packaging plastic, as I couldn't find a real Propblur set anywhere.

I used the back end of a pipette for the radar, it was the closest thing to the shape I could find laying around.

Nice topic & build! I´d love to see a shot from below, if you replicated that grime & soot horror on the belly - but then it´s probably not easy to flip a finished helicopter for pictures... Did you use something special on the front canopy to get the rainbow effect? Looks really good!

Thank you very much Slavo! As you say it is a little tricky to take a picture of the underside on a fragile model like this, but believe me when I say it is nice and dirty like the picture. I used a mix of airbrushing and streaking with oil paints to achieve the effect. The effect on the glass is straight out of the box, nothing that I did to it. It is a strange effect that all Italeri clear parts seem to have. It is realistic though, so i won't complain!
