Finished the "Magic Tracks" today. If You glue them careful, they will be working.
13 April 2014, 17:20
Wim van der Luijt
Man...that's a lot of parts...not what I'm used to in 1:48
13 April 2014, 17:42
Christian Meyerhoff
Hi Wim! There are 54 track links per side. Got up this morning on 06:30 .Nobody else was awake. When I came home from my favourite baker shop two hours later those tracks were done . Breakfast was fine and my wife did not notice that I started modelling a little bit earlier this morning...

Making the tracks in the bakery? Count me in.
14 April 2014, 11:03
Christian Meyerhoff
No Acki! Made the tracks before going to the baker shop 🙂

Kim Branders
Nice start. Looking forward to rest of the build

Christian Meyerhoff
Small update: Finished the cooler of the Sd.Kfz. This is a Panzerart resin part which fits very well to the Voyager etched metal. It`s an improvement to the kit`s part, cause you can see all the Detail when looking from the front.

BTW: For a very short time I was the proud owner of an Eduard P-39 Dual Combo. Bur not for Long....

Hi Christian - I prefer your "Stubentiger" 🙂
16 April 2014, 19:31
Christian Meyerhoff
@Mike: Sometimes Tiger, sometimes Panther... just look...

Ingmar Stöhr
Hi Christian. I also want to build this combination sometimes. So I'm in on this build. I noticed, that you have the rood between the breech-block and the recuperator fully extended. But during transport the breech-block was disconnected from the recuperator. Also in most pictures the breech-block, the optics and the rails, the barrel slides on, where covered. I guess these parts where oiled an would capture a lot of dust if not covered. I try to find some pictures.
16 April 2014, 20:03
Christian Meyerhoff
Hi Ingmar! Many thx for your advice. Some pics would be perfect! In this stage of the build erverything can be changed
16 April 2014, 20:08
Ingmar Stöhr
How do I add pictures in the comments?
Wenn du mir deine Email als Private Nachricht schickst, dann suche ich noch ein paar mehr Fotos raus, die ich nicht unbedingt hier posten möchte - copyright....
16 April 2014, 20:12
Frank Krause
I'm also in! I read that optical equipment was usually removed and stowed during transport. I haven't got any pictures, so all my hopes are on Ingmar...😉
16 April 2014, 20:13
Ingmar Stöhr
Frank, you are right. I had a brief look at my references. It seems, as if the optics were removed, but the sighting mechanics and the drum structure with distances engraved stayed in place during travel. These were covered with special tailored tarps. I found some good pics, but since they are scans from books or taken from ebay auctions I can't post them here because of copyright...

Oh Christian is back to 35 scale! I´m in here! Looks gorgeous, so far!
17 April 2014, 13:42
Christian Meyerhoff
THX George! No cats no fun 🙂 But thank you anyway for your Kind words!
@Holger: Never went back from 1:35, but needed a short break to continue AFV stuff to get it right. Ich gelobe Besserung...but so much small airplanes in stash waiting to be build😉
17 April 2014, 18:21
Christian Meyerhoff
Small update: Started with the Voyager set which is very nice. I will not use all of it because there are many parts you will never see again when the model is finished.
18 April 2014, 13:53
Christian Meyerhoff
Small update: Started the paint job on the Sd.Kfz. Black primer, than Panzer Grey in various shades. Applied some filters on the running gear. That`s all so far.

Awesome weathering on the cat, so lifelike!
3 May 2014, 10:54

Running gear and tracks on. Next step will be detail painting and weathering the engine and the gear boxes.
4 May 2014, 19:15
Christian Meyerhoff
Small progress.
Painted and weathered the undercarriage than put on the body. It starts looking like a Sd.Kfz. 7 but still many hours of work.

Christian Mundt
2 October 2014, 19:54
Christian Meyerhoff
Hi everybody! After a 15 month break I started to rework this one. The paint job was improved because I never liked it and some peddinghaus instruments decals were bought too. I also changed my mind about the s.F.H.18... Meanwhile I have two Dragon 88 Flak`s in my stash and I will use one of them being towed. It took me a long time, but step by step I started liking this one.
15 March 2016, 19:18
Kerry COX
Avoid, at all costs, CA on a cats whiskers. It really stuffs up their being able to judge the size of the holes they like to crawl through. ! 🙂
I am a BIG fan of the Voyager PE, having done an "Ontos" with the Verlinden resin interior. 👍
This will be a spectacular build Christian M, and I am looking forward to the excellent results. 🙂
15 March 2016, 19:20
Christian Meyerhoff
Thanks a lot Kerry, I will try to do my best... what ever thas means... 🙂
15 March 2016, 19:24
Kerry COX
Hehehehe, the cat knows. 🙂
My cat got stuck into a tube of CA and it glued his whiskers together, and it stuffed him up for a long time, trying to get it off his facial fur and whiskers, and wouldn't let us anywhere near him the whole time. So funny but sad mate. :-/
He took a long time to 'recover' 🙂
15 March 2016, 22:56
Joerg R.
Nice Christian 😄 Thats a big project.
16 March 2016, 00:08
Christian Meyerhoff
Small update:
Decals are on and painting the small bits and pieces started as well. I hope that I will finish the whole thing within one week.
@Kerry: I´m sorry to say that my dear friend from the norwegian woods passt away last year in the age of 16. He had a perfect cat`s life. I think next year would be fine to get a new friend out of that cold and dark norwegian woods. If You like cats take a Viking, You won`t be disappointed.
24 March 2016, 19:15
Kerry COX
Happy Easter Scale Mates and friends. 🙂God bless you all. 🙂 👍
24 March 2016, 21:33
Christian Meyerhoff
Happy Easter to You as well Kerry!
25 March 2016, 07:40
Thomas Mayer
Christian, our cat is 13 years now and doing fine. Maybe, too fine...
Just kidding! What´s the difference of a Norwegian cat, aside from a long travel to catch one?
25 March 2016, 17:07
Thomas Mayer
Christian, on picture 21: to me something looks strange. Should the last roadwheel be the same level as the others? As far as I am aware the last roadwheel sits higher than the others. I found a picture showing this: toadmanstankpictures.com/sdkfz7cd_01.htm

What do you think?
25 March 2016, 17:16
Bryn Crandell
Looking good! How far are you going to go with weathering? Mud? Etc.
25 March 2016, 18:16
Christian Meyerhoff
@ Thomas: Regarding Viking`s Cats read this:
de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegische_Waldkatze
Regarding the wheel I have to check my references. Probably You are right!

@ Bryn: This special vehicle belonged to the 24. Panzer Division which took part in Operation Barbarossa in 1941. They took the "Road to Perdition" to Stalingrad. There will be no mud but only dust from the "Roads" ( Rollbahnen) they used to cross the russian country in summer time.

Thank You both for watching and Happy Easter to all! 🙂
25 March 2016, 18:45
Hanno Kleinecke
Looking good so far Christian, tracks and wheels look nicely weathered !
25 March 2016, 19:28
Christian Meyerhoff
Danke schön und frohe Ostern! 🙂
25 March 2016, 19:31
Rui S
I missed this one. I'm grabbing some beers now and some almonds too😉 👍
Happy Easter to you all
25 March 2016, 19:51
Christian Meyerhoff
Well Rui, thanks a lot and Happy Easter to You as well! Missing this one was easy because I started it in 2013, fucked it up and restarted it this week. So all in all You missed nothing except my mistakes while building this one. Slowly it starts looking like a Sd.Kfz.7 should look like. Many thanks for watching!
25 March 2016, 20:17
Christian Bruer
Sometimes it is better to leave a project for a while to make the best out of it at the end. So with this, very nice and covincing work Christian. 👍
27 March 2016, 17:34
Christian Meyerhoff
Thanks a lot Christian. Meanwhile it turned to fun again. 🙂
27 March 2016, 19:41
Kerry COX
Herr Myerhoff, I am so pleased to see such a great result mate. 👍
The 'Voyager' PE is certainly the premier choice for detailing and you have just made your build 'come alive'. 🙂
Congratz Christian. Very well done sir. 🙂 👍 👍
27 March 2016, 21:43
Christian Meyerhoff
Many thanks Kerry!
I sprayed a thin layer of Alclad Clear Gloss in preparation for the washings and the weathering. I hope that I will finish this one in the comming days.
28 March 2016, 08:12
Kerry COX
I built the "Flakvierling" that Tamiya made, and I was fascinated by the mechanics of the truck and it's track drive mechanism, but I see that the Dragon has so much more detail in that department. Oh well, an OTHER model I must have lol. 🙂
28 March 2016, 09:17
Christian Meyerhoff
Well Kerry, try one!
Trumpeter has also a nice selection of Half Tracks. I like this one as well:

28 March 2016, 13:43

I certainly will Christian, as I like the way the Germans applied their 88's to all kinds of mobile systems.
28 March 2016, 17:44
Christian Meyerhoff
Yep! 🙂
28 March 2016, 18:03
Mike Kryza
Hi Kerry - the kit is really a "walk in the park". Building this SfL is fun pure. 🙂
28 March 2016, 19:31
Kerry COX
Thanks for the reassurance Mike, and I will now see what is available on line. 🙂 👍
And now that I know where to come for all the build alerts and suggestions, I am sure it really will be "A walk in the park". 👍 🙂 As the images from both Christian and Mike's builds will be invaluable reference material. 👍
Thanks gents. 🙂

Clifford Keesler

Flak 37 first steps. This is my third "Acht Acht" from Dragon. So should be a piece of cake 🙂
And many thanks Clifford!
30 March 2016, 18:57
Christian Meyerhoff
Small update. My Flak keeps growing. In my opinion the best kit ever made by Dragon.
2 April 2016, 19:52

Looking good Christian. 👍
I Suspected that and I've to get my hands on one.😉
2 April 2016, 19:58

2 April 2016, 20:54

Looks great 👍 And I second the opinion on the Dragon 8,8.
3 April 2016, 08:48

Small update. This kit has many fine details and small parts. The fit is excellent.

Nette Schleifbügel hast du da, Christian! (Grins...)
5 April 2016, 18:41
Christian Meyerhoff

Allererste Sahne, Christian! Mir wird schon beim Zusehen schwindelig!
6 April 2016, 05:39
Christian Meyerhoff
Ich danke Euch! 🙂
6 April 2016, 06:00
Christian Bruer
It seems to me the Dragon 8,8cm was a great improvement to the old Tamiya kit?!
6 April 2016, 17:30
Mike Kryza
@Christian B. 🙂 - You're right - it's like night and day.
6 April 2016, 19:40
Mike Kryza
But there was a time, we were happy about Tamiyas 88.😉
6 April 2016, 19:40
Christian Meyerhoff
Today's progress. Finished the gun basement and started with the boogies.
Very smooth job so far! 🙂
7 April 2016, 17:46
Christian Meyerhoff
Some progress at the boogies.
11 April 2016, 18:25
Thomas Mayer
I like your clean build! This highly detailled FlaK builds up nicely!
12 April 2016, 07:00
Hanno Kleinecke
Super accurate work so far Christian ! Mastercraftsman at work . 🙂
12 April 2016, 07:12
Christian Meyerhoff
Thank You both! 🙂 I think this is one of the better kits produced by dragon.
12 April 2016, 10:25
Rui S
Lots of detail. Looking good Christian 👍
12 April 2016, 10:35
Stefan Schacht
Interessant, bin dabei.
12 April 2016, 10:39
Christian Meyerhoff
Many thanks! Still a lot of work but it`s still fun.
12 April 2016, 11:42
Ingmar Stöhr
Christian, even if I don't comment on every progress I'm still following this with great interest. I have the same Flak kit in my stash and I also wanted to show the 15cm sFH behind a Sd.Kfz.7 - which was your original idea. Maybe sometimes I will start this project.
12 April 2016, 13:05
EnsignExpendabl
Nice beer pairing 😛
12 April 2016, 16:23
Christian Meyerhoff
@ Ensign Expendabl: Modelling without beer is less fun!😉 (Sorry, only my opinion.)
@ Ingmar: You are right. My first idea was the "Schwere Feldhaubitze", but I took the wrong kit. The Verlinden version was one of the worst kits I ever started and was a real show stopper regarding this project. Meanwhile the fun is back and I hope to complete the whole thing within 4 weeks.
Thanks for watching mates! 🙂
12 April 2016, 17:42
EnsignExpendabl
Verlinden is very poor in general. I had a Chaffee PE+resin kit and I had to throw away half the parts because they weren't mentioned in the instructions at all and I had no idea where they should go!
12 April 2016, 18:52
Christian Meyerhoff
Well, to be honest. Not all Verlinden stuff is bad at all. I used their Duster set on this one:

M-42-A1-Duster Part 5 | Album by worldinscale (1:35)

It turned out great, but the SFh 15 is crab. Never again!
12 April 2016, 19:14
Christian Meyerhoff
Construction finished. Ready for painting! 🙂
16 April 2016, 13:47
Christian Meyerhoff
Today`s progress. All sub assemblies got primed with " Chaos Black" from Citadel. In my opinion the best primer ever. Very thin, dries in minutes, no loss of detail and easy to use. Next step were several thin layers of Humbrol No.67. To be continued...
17 April 2016, 18:15
Ingmar Stöhr
👍 did you fix the wheels already? I would have left them off for easier painting. Just curious.
17 April 2016, 19:57
Christian Meyerhoff
Yes Ingmar, the wheels are fixed. 🙂
18 April 2016, 05:21
Holger Kranich
Wow, its all looking unbelievably good detailed!
18 April 2016, 07:12
Christian Meyerhoff
Thank You Holger! As I mentioned before, this is one of the best kits made by Dragon so far.
18 April 2016, 09:29
Christian Meyerhoff
Today`s progress. A very thin layer of Humbrol No.67 mixed with Humbrol flat white to make the details pop up without using any washings so far. The whole thing will getting darker again by using some filters later.
19 April 2016, 18:11
Rui S
Nice 👍
19 April 2016, 19:30
Ingmar Stöhr
👍 so you sprayed a lighter color from above to make some highlights?
19 April 2016, 19:45
Christian Meyerhoff
@ Ingmar: That`s what I´m trying to say 🙂
20 April 2016, 08:05
Ingmar Stöhr
🙂 nice and easy. Have to give it a try!
20 April 2016, 17:36
Christian Meyerhoff
Well Ingmar, this is only my way to do it and for me it works fine. By using this method any black washes will come out great, cause You put black to black. You were asking how I will paint the wheels... It's the same thing. Now they are gray, but once painted with heavy thinned black, the paint will do the job for You. Let the paint flow and you will cover all the areas that can't be if reached with a brush normaly. But that´s only my way and many ways leed to Rome 🙂
BTW: Here is another example for using this method:

Thomas Mayer
G4! Cooles Gefährt!!
20 April 2016, 18:51
Christian Meyerhoff
Jo!🙂 Ist ein schönes Modell. Hab ich vor drei oder vier Jahre mal gebaut. Ist die Mühe wert!
20 April 2016, 18:56
Alistair Graham
So far looking fantastic.
20 April 2016, 19:12
Christian Meyerhoff
Many thanks Alistair 🙂
20 April 2016, 19:25
Ingmar Stöhr
I like to try different methods and this one looks as if it's worth it.
For my last Panzers in 1/48 I also assembled the whole running gear and then uses diluted black to define the rubber of the road wheels. That works quiet good.
20 April 2016, 19:35
Christian Meyerhoff
👍 🙂 !
20 April 2016, 19:48
H K
That`s an interesting method I have to try. Thanks for explaining.
20 April 2016, 21:09
Kerry COX
I haz bin doin' dat foe yearz.👍 🙂 But it is unwise to use a solvent based wash, and an acrylic black and water is great, as the excess can be removed with a damp cotton tip. 🙂 👍.
20 April 2016, 22:00
Christian Meyerhoff
Painted the wheels of the boogies and prepared the woodend tool handels today. Everything got a shot of Alclad clear gloss for the washings. Decals were setted as well. Weathering this beast will be the next step. To be continued...
24 April 2016, 18:25
Christian Meyerhoff
Small progress:
Painted all the boogie details put on the decals and sealed everything with gloss coat. Tomorrow I will start with the washes.
27 April 2016, 18:13
Christian Meyerhoff
Today`s progress: Some test fitting of the Flak. It seems that this one will come out very nice. No issues to recognize so far. I`m happy 🙂
29 April 2016, 20:15
Thomas Mayer
Nice successful FlaK, Christian! Das machst du aber schön!! 🙂
30 April 2016, 09:35
Christian Meyerhoff
1 May 2016, 07:38
Christian Meyerhoff
Sd.Kfz. 7 finished.
7 May 2016, 12:02
Hanno Kleinecke
Outstanding work on Herta, Christian, looks like the real thing. Weathering just up to the right amount : visible but not overdone . 👍
7 May 2016, 12:16
Kerry COX
Christian. 🙂 You certainly have got a great touch mate. 🙂 And if I didn't know better, I would have thought you had taken photos of the 1/1 scale and posted them. 😉
7 May 2016, 12:22
Christian Meyerhoff
Thank You Mates! That makes me happy 🙂
7 May 2016, 13:11
Kerry COX
Herr Masterhoff. 🙂 🙂 👍
7 May 2016, 13:19
H K
👍 I am with Hanno, great weathering.
7 May 2016, 15:40
Thomas Mayer
Cool! I only would give a short shot of matt varnish to the running gear. Fine work, Christian!
7 May 2016, 16:16
Christian Meyerhoff
Thomas you are right! Will do it tomorow!
@ HK: Thanks a lot!
@ Kerry: Too much honour for a simple guy like me....but I like it 🙂
7 May 2016, 19:41
Mike Kryza
And the front wheels need a llittle bit dust. 👍
7 May 2016, 20:05
Kerry COX
Christian.............GET USED TO IT.!!!...👍 👍 👍
Your good at all you do mate. 🙂
7 May 2016, 22:38
Rui S
hehehe.
@ Christian, go for it and do not stop the improving Mate. 👍
8 May 2016, 00:43
Christian Meyerhoff
Thank You all!
I`ve added 5 additional pics. Matt varnish at the running gear and more dust to the wheels.😉
In my opinion it`s ok now.
8 May 2016, 13:54
Kerry COX
Christian, The matt varnish you have applied has reduced that 'sharpness' quite a bit and gives it that 'going to the front' look.🙂
I am now wondering if the figures will be making an appearance any time. ?
Looking forward to what else you may have in mind mate. 🙂
Most impressive. 🙂 👍
8 May 2016, 20:47
Christian Meyerhoff
Many thanks Kerry! I will try my best.
