Some News: First paintwork in white.
I was already very impressed after the first part of the camp. I think the white/black finish in the military area is a nice change. Something completely different, so I will definitely build an RAF machine with the black and white underside.

I had already spent hours trying to figure out how the black and white paint was really laid out. Unfortunately, I could not find sufficient pictures of the A4 V4 "Woman in the Moon" that would have shown the rocket from all sides.
The fact is that many pictures on the Internet and in books are incorrectly labeled. The painting instructions are also wrong because, for example, they quarter (radial division) the upper part (2 semicircles black and 2 semicircles white, which according to the few pictures that can be clearly assigned to the A4 V4 "Woman in the Moon" is not the case. The upper part is only painted in half (radial division) black/white, so one half white, one black with the separation and reversal about half the length.
Often pictures that show a completely different A4 are titled A4 V4 woman in the moon or with the date of shooting October 3, 1942, but they clearly show a different A4 (So the first picture in my album doesn't show the A4 V4 "woman in the moon"). The A4 V4 Frau im Mond, for example, had a black painted tip ("warhead").

According to the title of the picture, the A4 photographed is supposed to be the A4 V4 "woman in the moon", which was launched on October 3rd, 1942. But she isn't.
I begann the base, with the painting of the A4. The taping has already taken several hours and the A4 is not quite finished yet. Unfortunately I also made a mistake. The paintwork is rotated 180°. But I'll probably leave it like that.

Shar DipreeThe instructions from Revell are of no use at all when it comes to painting, as the painting instructions only show the rocket from one side. The same applies to Takom.
The instructions from Special Armor are much better because they show the rocket from four or five sides. But, as described above, the painting instructions are wrong, at least for the V4 "woman in the moon". But the lower part seems to be correct. at least that's how it makes the most sense (missing pictures of the real ones from all four side.

Rail shafts and rails were added to the base today. I also filled the gaps between the concrete slabs, although I'm not finished here yet.

Scratch built the the line tower and cables. The A4 is now hopefully finally finished with paint after I had to touch up the paint several times. Things are looking good at the moment. then I can apply the semi-gloss clear coat tomorrow. Things are looking good at the moment; really good - I love the black/white paint job. If the paint really fits, I'll take photos.

@lukasz. Thanks. Unfortunately, crossing your fingers didn't work. Once again, the clear coat didn't work right away. So I decided to start all over again and strip the paint from the rocket. But I have now found a clear coat that I seem to be able to handle - at least so far (Humbrol acryl clear satin/matt/gloss varnish).
@All: After some unfortunate adversity, I finally found time to continue working on my V2 #4.
After I was once again not satisfied with the clear coat and I had applied the black/white pattern incorrectly, twisted by 180°, I removed the paint from the V2 and started painting from the beginning.
The image "Woman in the Moon" as a lucky charm was applied to what appears to be a light gray/gray-whitish background based on the original images. This background is missing from the decals and so I improvised this with a decal from another kit. This decal is actually a light gray/white gray base plate of a license plate from a Toyota Prius kit.

Shar DipreeA few small steps forward: panle line washing, scratchbuilding of some little details.
Next I start trying to recreate the icing of the middle rocket segment. The tank for liquid oxygen is located in the lower middle segment. As soon as this has been refueled, the outer shell of the rocket ices up in this area.

Not much has happened so far, except that I covered my test sample ((painted plate) with clear varnish yesterday and am now waiting for the varnish to dry. After that I will try to recreate the icing.

Shar DipreeMy attempts to recreate the ice on the lower fuselage of the rocket to my satisfaction have been completed. So here we finally move on. Today was the wedding, the rocket and the launch table are finally together and I can now start with the wiring. *happy*

My version will be the A4 "Frau im Mond", the fourth launched A4.
It was painted in a high-contrast black and white to better observe and track the movement of the missile during flight.
V4 (fourth launched A4) -"Frau im Mond" was launched on 10/03/1942. It was the first successful start of an A4. It reached a top speed of 4,824 km/h (about Mach 4.5) and reached a top altitude of 84.5 km, thus reaching the frontier of space for the first time. This was the first successful large rocket launch in human history an the first time, a man-made object reached the limits of space.
I really like the high-contrast black/white finish. It goes contrary to the usual finishes in the military sector; an appealing change.
