My Jedi masking skills have doubled since last we met..

Album image #4
Good masking job, but I went a different way. Good practice.

First time using Stynylrez Water-base, flat black Primer.. I have a lot to say.. but It’s really Awesome!

Album image #6
This is supposed to be flat black? Looks more like gun metal to me.. That’s really cool but not what I expected.. Look at the amazing contrast..

Album image #7
I have an idea to use the stickers from another X-wing kit as pre-cut masks to do the stripes..

Album image #8
Progress report photos help me think about what to do.

Album image #9
I was hung up at this point for awhile. My First idea was to mask the orange and paint black around it, but that proved to be difficult, so I decided to go all black, and try and recreate the orange and stripes later.

Album image #10
At first I wanted to keep the Orange stripe and work with making the rest black, but only because I was mesmerized, and having trouble comprehending and matching that specific perfect orange until.. I felt a disturbance in the Force, and decided to try and do something original.

Album image #11
Masking is a skill which requires lots of practice

Now be brave and don’t look back..

Stynlrez primer...Lays down like silk. The Carbonite freezing process was successful.

Album image #14
It changes colors depending on the light source

Album image #15
Progress report. I’m really liking it in all black. Something tells me maybe it’s a stealth prototype.. 🤔

Jedi meditation exercise with knife, tape, brush, and paint..

Album image #17
Another meditation exercise with the Knife, tape, and the mysterious masking fluid..

Album image #18
I had to repeat this step 12 times, because I failed 4 times in a row previously because the tape kept peeling up the paint. After the 3rd round, I grabbed a silver Sharpie, and then cleaned up with a brush.. The lesson is this approach was overkill and unnecessary.

Anti scanner stealth paint applied.. Final assembly.

First date with Stynylrez Primer went extremely well, and I almost scored, except I was surprised when She turned out to be........Gun Metal.. 😮

Progress report: Stynylrez primer has exceeded my expectations and has performed beautifully. I love the way she looks all in black, before any markings. Maybe it's a stealth prototype.. 🤔

Looking awesome JD, that black is great. Prototype is a nice idea, maybe with some coded markings? Great mug 👍

A little more progress. Tom, what would coded markings look like?
10 February 2021, 23:27
Tom
I guess coded wasn't a good word, I was thinking some alien glyphs in a Predator kind of way 🙂 Nice design in pic 10 👍

Ooo, now I have an idea.. lookup the various Rebel Alliance symbols and cast your vote! I already know the one that I think most represents this prototype ship..can you guess?

Thanks a lot everyone! By the way, when you press down on Bb-8 he talks, press again and you hear the engines roar, and laser blast sounds!
